Danielle should keep her certifications up to date in case she needs them in an emergency…like her first aide license and other things.
Stuff like that will always come in handy, especially when you are waiting for the first responders and ambulance to arrive

Danielle, From one healthcare professional to another. The greatest advice I can give you is keep up everything you can PALS, ACLS, NOWS, etc etc. Keep your license! You will thank me. The 2nd and most important thing is I have seen it in your eyes for some time now. Burnout sucks. I was a Paramedic for 28 years. Quit 3 times and on the last time I quit for good. The worst part is going to come, No one, not even Jason, will know what you go through mentally and physically. The outside shows, but on the inside, no one can see. Please consider going to see a therapist to help you through it. I am serious! Nothing affected me badly until I got time off. And sat and dwelled on my life and the things I saw, the faces that died in front of me, the people I was blessed to help. Everyone will say, oh, I don't need that. But those that do are happy they went and were able to vent to someone who listens and more importantly gives you ideas and ways to cope and deal with it.

I am a respiratory therapist and I was in a children’s hospital working in the PICU and NICU. I just recently quit after some health issues and going to 3 different doctors they all told me I should quit my job. I didn’t even talk about my job other than saying where I work/what I do. I didn’t even realize the amount of stress because I became so used to it. Not to mention the nightshift has so many health complications with it as well. I first cut my hours, and although it helped it almost made the anxiety of going back to work worse because I had some more time to think. Nobody can really understand it until they experience it, healthcare is such a soul draining, exhausting field. Keep your credentials and you can always go back if you need to, otherwise enjoy life away from all the stress and sadness. 💗

Danielle, Good for you. My Grandmother worked in PEDS for 25 years and had to take early retirement due to catching from a Nine year old boy Hypotitis(Spelling?) You sound like you may have a better prospect in the future? Whatever that maybe make sure it's really what you need right now. God will show you your right path. Congrats! I am a retired nurse, 12 hour shifts sounded great when they were introduced, however the time off did not make up for the stress of it. I changed to 8 hr shifts after my children were born. I changed my focus and did different jobs in nursing every 5 years. I would not change the variety in my career for anything. Things just came up as I was looking for a change and I seized the day several times. Nurses are always needed, your caring and empathy are powerful tools and clearly come across over your videos. Please don’t give up nursing altogether find what works for you. Congratulations for taking this step, something great will come Someday

My son is an Emergency room nurse..
He served in the Navy/Marines as a corpsman ..
    Did two tours in Afghanistan..
First tour was in a trauma unit in khandahar.. second tour was as the Doc for a marine sniper unit…
When he got out of the service he worked in a hospital and went to college to become a nurse while starting a family…
He’s worked in a few hospitals in emergency rooms and is now working in a VA hospital …
It’s a rough job and takes a toll.. he’ll be able to retire much sooner now that he’s in the VA hospital…
Congratulations on making a choice that works for you..
Health care jobs can suck the life out of you.. doesn’t matter how caring you are or how much you want to help people, it takes its toll on you..
God bless and follow your heart…❤

Nursing is a very demanding and hard profession. It takes a special kind of person to do it. But even then it can be difficult and weigh heavy on your mind. Don’t think of it as “quitting “. Think of it as moving on to a different career. Wishing you lots of luck.

I was married to a real nurse for 16 years.

I hear you girl I’ve worked in my field for 32 years I’m a medical technologist with a masters and microbiology and I ran a micro lab in the hospital and now I work in hematology and oncology clinic. I see them at their best and their worst and it takes a strong person to work with cancer and other kinds of issues. People are running into. Sometimes you have to take a minute. I know what you’re talking about and I am ready to retire. I still have four years to go.
