    I know it is more expensive, but I suggest getting a Tank system. It will make you well pump last longer, the sediment settles out in the tank, and if the power goes out, you still have a tank full of water.
    I speak from experience, plus my son in the water well business, and he always suggests a tank system.

    When you use a water softener and feel slippery it's because you are clean and don't have minerals from hard water and your soap and shampoo last much longer and keeps your pipes and appliances clear . Get a softer you wont be disappointed.

    • @trae74
      @trae74 3 месяца назад +5

      Makes such a huge difference. I giggled when they said that. 😂 They're just not used to that feeling.

    • @RobertJLessard
      @RobertJLessard 3 месяца назад +2

      Not exaclty, that's what the water softener people say. I'm a chemist, the minerals in the water help it being a better solvent and the soap and dirt can be dissolved better. The slippery feeling is the soap and can't be risned off with the low monerla soap.

    Whole house filtration systems are small these days. I have mine from Home Depot & it's about 12" tall and hangs on the wall - get the filters you need. You may need 2 filters but a well house you can stand in is MUCH NICER to work in than bending over. Think "4x6 shed", imo... to allow room for insulation and a space heater - if needed.

    We drilled a well about 5 years ago outside of Houston. I too watched and talked to the drillers and loved the process. The moment the water flowed from the pump I noticed it was cold! Being a muni water guy that was unheard of. Love my non chlorinated cold water 230' of sand filtration. Never going back.

    If you do get a water softener, go with Kinetico. That is what the majority of hospitals, restaurants, etc, here in the Texas Hill Country and San Antonio use. You may not need one, but if you do, it's worth spending the extra money up front.

    Softener advise from a former commercial softener sales person with 10 years experience. Some softeners have the ability to adjust hardness by mixing in some hard water after softening. All water coming out of the softener should be 0 grains per gallon but by using the mixing valve you can adjust it to say 3 grains, then you get the best of both worlds.

    Great job guys! I know you said you didn't want to put a softener in but I would recommend that you at least plan a space and plumb for it and I would put in the "well house". Make it tall enough so you can walk in it comfortably. At least 7 feet tall also insulate it. Also, wire it so you have plenty of light bulb locations, a switch at the door, and maybe even a light outside the doorway. Also, the softener needs to have a place to drain the water that rinses the tanks so you won't have a mess right around the well house.
