- We were lucky enough to be apart of a good friends party down near Las Vegas this past summer and he needed a pilot. So without asking questions we headed to southern California to pick up his Huey, where we would then fly it back up through Nevada and spend a weekend flying Helicopters, shooting guns, and exploring the beautiful mountains surrounding Las Vegas!

The reason they dumped those helicopters in Vietnam is not because they didn't want to take them back. The Viet Cong captured Saigon and it was a race to evacuate the remaining U.S. personnel and Vietnamese civilians that had helped the U.S. military during the war. They had to push those helicopters into the sea because there was only a few boat with many incoming helicopters loaded with people fleeing, without pushing those overboard the others couldn't have landed.
Thanks for filling us in! truly appreciated.
Lot like what happened in Afghanistan crazy that it turned out almost like Vietnam did.
@Mike-01234 One might come to believe that the military industrial complex is in control of the U.S. government, not me though.
Ty for saying that and thanks to the troops for trying to save as many lives as they can man it’s crazy even to think of anything like that……
Logistics logistics..🎉
Love the sound of those Huey's. You can hear distinctly when a Huey is passing nearby before you see it. I always run outside to look at it and then I hear that CCR song in my head.
That 2 blade makes like a THE noise you think of when you think helicopter noises
"fortunate son starts playing"
Hey Editor, you missed the mark man, you failed us, as you failed to add the ONLY Huey Soundtrack! CCR - Fortunate Son. 😂😂😂
😆

The thump thump thump of a Huey gives me goosebumps...
And I wanna listen to Fortunate Son for the Red, White, and Blue!
Man that thump is soooooo amazing. Gives me chills, can't wait to see one in person. Amazing music choice too 😆
I have to take exception to the asinine comment about having too many hueys in Vietnam and they had to dump them over the side of the Navy ships. The newsreels you showed were from the fall of Vietnam, in 1974 something I saw from the alert lounge at MacDill AFB, Tampa Florida where I was stationed. That was a sad day for the United States, no matter what I thought of the Vietnam war.
if all remember they werent thrown overboard because govt did not wantto bring them home
they were tossed to make room for the constant stream of people being evacuated
I didn't realize until now how BIG a Huey is... quite a formidable machine.
Man, I'm learning something new everyday watching this channel!
I was a grunt with the 1st Cav in Vietnam. I spent a lot of time sitting in the doorway on a combat assault. Not that's a trip. I always wished I could have been a pilot. I still love the Slick and I have to stop and look skyward whenever one goes by. I live near HAFB so I have seen plenty of these as the fly over. It is a sound I will never forget.
My Dad was 1st Cav 2/20th ARA in the Cobra. Ive heard some wild stories.
Thank you for your service sir.
"just wiggle these 2 sticks" "Do it backwards to land" Ha.
If you enjoy rappelling, you should try it out of a helicopter. Got my Air Assault Wings in the mid 80's, one of the biggest thrills in my, then, young life. DO IT ON A ROPE!
Thanks so much for taking me back 50 years. I really miss the startup sounds of the Huey.
So you loved the music played over the top as much as me I'd imagine
I maintained Bell 212 helicopters in Peru. I worked for a contractor supporting Operation Snowcap. It is a rugged machine. The day I left two of the helicopters were damaged, and got the crew and Guardia Sevill soldiers back. One took ground fire, the other landed hard, bent the skids, but made it back to the comendancia. It was a very interesting day working for a flakey contractor.
The Air Force still actively flys the UH-1N, many people are surprised when we fly into airports or airships and sees them
fun fact about this, used to be a line guy in kcno and had the pleasure of hot fueling this exact UH-1 as well as most of heli streams fleet, glad to see theyre still out and about
I hope you guys realize how truly blessed you are !you guys do things that I've always wanted! Thanks for sharing
Dave + Helicopter content= best content on RUclips 🤙
What about Cleetus….🤨
@@DK-gt1jk once he has that 500 flying I’ll review my statement 🤣
As a kid grew up in southern Vietnam before and after the war, I was obsessed seeing these Huey helicopters flying around. Still am these days in the States. Would be cool to get to fly it one day 😊
Love hearing you being in the market for a huey. Would love to see them in the videos.
history of it was cool need more of that
You can hear a huey 4 -5 miles out.
Actually the military designation was UH-1 Iroquois. Huey was a nickname given as twisted version of the UH-1
The original designation was YH-40, then HU-1, hence Huey, in the new system, however the system was changed to UH-1 about the time it entered service.
@@Cthippo1 HU-1Y Prototype
That was cool. My dream helicopter to fly in or own would be the Bell 222 or 230. The 222 was the famous Airwolf Helicopter. I used to ride my bike wearing a motorcycle helmet as a kid in the 80's thinking I was Stringfellow Hawk on a mission for The FIRM and Archangel.
Here in Germany there are a bunch of German Army Hueys that are being sold.
Paint scheme looks like a ERA Helicopters.
One of my neighbors in central California was a Vietnam copter pilot he started a crop spraying business and used a huey to carry a 500 gallon spray tank woke me up about a thousand times taking off at 3:00 a.m. in the morning
Great Helicopter video Dave. Kudos to Dave and Dave being able to fly a helicopter. Not anyone can do it🤙😎
Great vid, as always. This part was amazing entertainment and raw emotion/just saying what you think 15:45. Loved it!! This is the clip: 15:11. All around, this was top notch fellas. "and he's jumped an airplane with a monster truck" -DD. So good!!!
Love this content...brings a boy to his dreams ♥️
Great video 😊
ChickenHawk by Robert Mason is a good read !!
Wow!!! I am sooo jealous right now. Thanks for making these videos.
Glad you like them!
love the music!!
So badass lucky guy for sure !!!! looks heavy heavy
The Twin Huey is fun to fly in, and I would guess the civilian version is as well. The Twin Huey was developed for the Canadian Armed Forces, as the policy for military aircraft was that they had to have two engines, and able to fly on one. Canada is the second largest country on the planet, after Russia, and there are vast spaces that if you go down, you might never be found. And that has happened. So the Bell UH-1N has a stretched airframe with two engines. And various US government and military agencies liked it and bought ten times the number that Canada did. The civian 212 is also popular.
Chinook, great recovery helo.
Nice ending 👏👏👏
You guys should help with the Baltimore bridge cleanup and recovery
At 15:34 the pilot in the A Star was my Ssgt in the Marine Corps, Blaine Conrey! Hell yea
The issue with the helos in Vietnam was that when they did zero G maneuvers the pilots would over compensate for the condition and cause mast bumping which lead to them losing the rotor.
Very nice trip...
Awesome 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thank you guys, I can sit in my easy chair and see what I can only dream about doing. I would love a ride in any of those helicopters BUT my acrophobia will never allow that.
Keep up the fantasy life. 👍🙂
Love this Dave! Thanks for the aviation content! Should've gone for the 240B!
205++ with high skids are my favorite but I do love me a 212 with the fast fin tail. You should definitely check out a 214, it’s like a Huey and Blackhawk had a baby.
So like a HuHawk
I made the best decision possible, and did the Gunship Helicopters ride for my bachelor party. Absolutely class act staff, and an unforgettable experience. Well worth the money for a group of 4!
Good job blanking out the tail number 😂
First time viewer on this channel. Love the aviation content, keep it coming!
The sound of those blades is so epic
yes it is!
There are two helicopters in the world that sound like that. The Huey and the Huey Cobra. Love that sound.
Very cool. I flew in one as a guest in 2023. I paid for my entire family to take a ride after my son graduated from Army Flight school at Fort Novosel. A local flight club in Ozark, AL offered the rides to the graduates and their families. It was so amazing. I’ll never forget it. I hope you find the right one for you.
Great fast forwarding video
The helicopter log shows that this Las Vegas trip was Oct. 29,2023, basically Halloween in Vegas with a Huey.
That was epic !!!
No better sound in rotary wing aviation than the 205-212-HUEY.
The 214b beats both of them 👌
Love the content that you guys bring to the table been a fan from Diesel Brothers amazing content guys keep it up😊😊😊
thats crazy for a normal human, thx for sharing
Trinity flew the 212!!!
You flew over my house . Newbies fly to low and wake me up. Glad it was you
Ive flown Huey and Jet Rangers. The best thing about them is being able to do 50 ft autod.
That was too cool. I had many a ride in Hueys while in the military. A few with Vietnam pilots. Those were the best rides. Never got to be a door gunner, though.
Super cool to see this more "random trip" style content from you guys. I'm not sure I'd ever be cut out for the influencer lifestyle but it sure does look like fun. Even if I could do like 10% of the stuff you guys get up to in a given year that would probably be plenty!
I wouldn't consider them really influences. Which I'd consider really just the Instagram models kinda thing. These guys are more RUclips and businessmen
A M A Z I N G loved it
That was cool thank you. God bless you all and your loved ones
There was a Heuy flying around my area a few weeks back. Once you hear it you know EXACTLY what kind of helicopter it is
Hell yeah buddy! From a Naval Aviator family!
It’s a rough life for the diesel family. 🚁
I can't believe at some point you didn't play "Ride of the Valkyries" maybe I'm just old.
Just had an epic week getting cut up from rigging boats.. Arms look like meat.. BUT I just got my new carb for my airboat.. So maybe the weekend wont suck.
Heavy D GET SOME!!!
They pushed the Hueys off the carriers so more helicopters carrying rescued South Vietnamese could continue landing during the fall of Saigon. They were also not American aircraft, they were South Vietnamese.
Two Tango Alpha…that’s a mouthful.
Cool video and an awesome chopper , U know when a Huey is coming with its distinctive sound
that chopper has a sounds on its own.... viet war !!
an interesting source possibly for choppers is U.S. forestry service. I live a mile from a base in maine, they are louder than chinooks. 3 and 4 blade. they have been upgrading for a year or two, not sure where old stuff goes (50 years old). I honestly think they are upgrading to the housing boom, univeristy ect. the old noise is truly astoundng, it rattles windows a mile out.
Bro you guys have to check out Trident adventures in Oahu Hawaii. You can jump out of a helicopter over the ocean . I jumped in February with Steve a former Navy seal. It's amazing. Let me know when you want to go I'll go with you guys.
Multiple times here, you can see how much Dave is a pilot with someone else's toy, just always in the checklist being a pilot first.
Cool..I helped go get a wrecked plane in the tundra of Alaska..same copter
Mad respect for your helicopter knowledge! I am still pissed that our local VFW repainted their Huey the wrong color green! Not Olive Drab! LOL!
Lexington GA VFW Hall. Just sitting there. Wrong color. Needs to fly!
Huey is not what the army designated the helicopter. That would be Iroquois.
This makes me want to find a helicopter ride. Only time I've flown in one was Afghanistan. Over 10 years ago. Scared of heights but love flying
Love the content Dave! Been watching your stuff since before the early Diesel Brothers days
An old Huey Driver would say, two engines needs four rotors.
Ah... classic Huey sounds
Hell yea brother
That's some good timing. 15:16 Almost worthy of that James Burke shot.
Apocalypse Now soundtrack
Where's the Fortunate Son!
Had to take a double take though chuck noirs was giving the briefing at the beginning of the video l😂
co0ol video the 212 is a fantastic machine its perfect for Heli logging and forestry fire fighting we use them up here in British Columbia Canada. Dave look around in British Columbia you might find a deal here.
Saw that helicopter fly over my work so loud down here, Southern California
Huey, beating the air into submission 😂
haha exactly
A totally epic video for all that is manly...dusting rock outta' a helicopter !!
Looks identical to the bell 212 contracted out of Delano CA for the USFS H-531 Angeles National Forest
It's all fun and games till someone looses an eye lol.
Very cool video. Well filmed too!
Someone tell heavy D the gel or hairspray whatever in his beard he might as well start getting sponsored by just for Men and soul glo 😮
Americans, you’re all off your heads, you’re living a dream Heavy D for US president.
Yah, Heavy D is a least an honest caring fellow, very much not like the Donald! Eh?
Mast bump doesn't chop the tail off like in the animation, it breaks the mast which is the vertical rotating shaft connected to the main blades. Same result though - a very bad day!
When that started up I was suddenly transported to a Saigon hotel with Martin Sheen. ✌️
