      I started like 6 months ago. I chose as my first as well. I'm 33 or so I guess but this video is the best tutorial out there. I can play part a and b now and I've watched this video many times. I hope you have progressed well. I'm working on drowsy Maggie as we speak and hopefully soon I will get that down too. Good luck on the fiddling. I play viola by the way. Still works just lower.

    I'm a beginner of about 14 months in violin (65 years young). I'm so thrilled that I found your tutorial. Your teaching is Superb with the way you talk through every finger placement. This instrument maybe playable for me after all. Thank you so much, your a great teacher. John P.

    Thank you for doing this so slowly. So many teachers blast through pieces at full speed and expect learners to keep up, which we can't. Bless you young lady can't wait to progress to the next lesson. Keep going also with easy stuff to learn. One day I hope to learn the flight of the bumblebee but for now I am content with the drunken sailor lol 😊😊

    okay, right I'm getting a violin now, -_- you had me from "Hi!" omg I I'm going to learn to play, I have always wanted to learn the violin but the sheet music always intimidated me. I can't really get my head around it, I think its something to do with my dyslexia but watching this, and the way you brake it down has lifted my anxiety I have had since I was just a boy, I'm 30 years old now and I finally feel like I can take up something that I have always wanted to play, thank you so much for the inspiration I have never seen a learning session depicted in such away, I was always told that learning to play you need to learn to read music before doing anything else,
    thank you so much :),
    keep up the good videos and I wish you all the best of luck,
    kindest regards Beyond1ken
    oh and P.S. I just took a look at the sheet music and honestly for the first time in my life its tarting to make sense,

    • @KatyAdelson
      @KatyAdelson  6 лет назад +3

      Yay!! I'm super dyslexic -- I feel like if I can sort of do it, then anyone can! :D Violin is a hard instrument, but It's really logical. I think the challenge of the instrument makes it fun! =) I hope you have fun practicing! ^_^

    Hi Katy,
    I listened and compared the drowsy maggie part on this video and your music video, and they sound different. In this video it goes: E-B-E-D-E-B-E--E-B-E-A-F#-D-F#. But in the video it sounds like: E-B-D-B-E-B-A-F#-D-F#. I personally like how it sounds in the music video more, but I'm wondering if I'm just hearing things or if the tutorial/sheet music is different from what you played in the music video.

    Greetings from Switzerland!!!! you are just Awesome!!! thanks!... Looking forward to showing this video to my daughter (10y/o) who just started learning this summer, those tips for "hammer on" and sliding up to the notes are wonderful.
    What is the brand of your shoulder rest, it seems more fitting to the shoulder and maybe more adjustable? that's one thing that seems to disturb my daughter, I suggested a folded towel and it worked better, until the instructor was insistent she get use to the rest.

    Did you go to college for music? I play piano and feel like I'll disappoint everyone if I don't major in music, but there are some other things I want to try, but I still really love music and feel like I can pursue it without necessarily going to college for it... what do you think?

      +Taz Maniac I think the main melody of this tune is very playable for a beginner! However, the speed of the other two songs, and the change in the key signature at the end made this particular version a bit more advanced. But if all you want to play is the main melody, then I'd say it's a good tune to start with. :)
