WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

@@ashwayn I think we should teach children about religions from a young age, but only from an objective point of view.
They need to know what to look out for later in life so they are equipped to see them for what they are.

When I ask atheists why they believe, (Evolution) guess what?
The main reply is that it’s a scientific fact.
When I ask for the evidence they suggest I go to university or read this or that book.
But with every single one of them, there is no understanding of the evolutionary process.
They have been that indoctrinated they can't comprehend they have been duped.
So, the question of this video could also be rightly aimed at atheists and the evolution theory.
An atheist has to have, Faith, blind faith.
An atheist has told me that there are many in the comment section that understand evolution and can explain to me the details.

It less idoctrianated as just basic facts and theist can't understand those facts (or won't accept said facts) so ask blinding ask more pointless complicated questions that you average person cant answer. so we lead you to a place that can properly tell you, unlike theists.
and how are we being duped? cause here is the basics for evolution. it is the name of the process when a given species changes through environmental factors and mutation over time. we have found evidence through fossils, DNA, and observable changes in viruses, bacteria, and bugs, dogs, ect etc. that's it. it's not promising some great answer to the origins or meaning of life. its not saying if we follow some rules we will get a happy ending after we die. all evolution is a name to a fact of life that's it. if you want an in-depth understanding of it then get off youtube and find a proper non-religious course that teaches it.
this does not require blind faith. god on the other hand does. you have no actual proof there is a god but you believe there one. you have no proof that this god is the god of you bible and not any of the other gods that have existed over the countless years of human existence. and that you way of worshiping said god is right despite so many of the same worhsipers cant seem to agree on that. that blind faith and its a faith you base so much of yourself and life around. evoltion is just a living thing changing over time. don't really need much faith in that.
Billions actually. And it is truly scary because most of them consider this life a test, in a shitty vestibule to an eternal "afterlife" so it is guaranteed that they will never do anything except treat the planet, and each other, as disposable.
Reality deniers should be given a choice. Discard their retarded make-belief or be discarded. We can use them as food for the homeless and starving. 😃

When you look with any ounce of reason it’s all absurd.
Thankfully I don’t have much in the way of religious family, we’ve got some Catholics who go through the motions but don’t really try to ram it down our throats. I’ve only ever had to have one or two conversations on the subject of belief with them and when I’ve said something like “okay, you believe in that god, I’ll believe in Ra, prove I’m wrong” we just leave it there.
I’m more than happy to let them have their beliefs, as long as it’s not forced on me, or any aspect of my life.
I find it astonishing that religion is the only sphere of human endeavor in which a string of unsupported assertions is supported by yet ANOTHER string of unsupported assertions and that strategy is viewed as legitimate. What a sad example of how religion completely derails rational thought.

i as raised roman catholic and once i became old enough to really consider and reason the things i was told about god and religion i realized it was all nonsense. i was exposed to a scientific way of thinking from a cousin of mine and how things require evidence to support them and i realized that religion had no good evidence at all.

I was raised Catholic and for my family it's more of a cultural thing and nobody obeys the church outside of Holy Days. Like each generation is having waaay less children, obviously everyone is using birth control. It's a very 'Saturday Sinners/Sunday Saints' type deal.
But other fundie sects very much bleed into everyday life and there's no just ignoring what you want to ignore type deal. Plus I'd argue Catholics don't really fit the BITE model. But for reals this is faint praise. They are still a criminal organization that does WAY more harm then good.

The problem is that many theists say they don’t accept evolution but they can accept that living things evolve.
What they don’t accept is abiogenesis but this is distinct from evolutionary theory in that the science is not settled.
Are you questioning evolution or abiogenesis?

Not even necessarily only for those who "want" to leave. Those who value TRUTH. Question it all thoroughly, repeatedly, honestly and be willing to accept those answers which are verified and keep skeptical of those which are not.

Took me ages as well, I was around 47 when I finally did it. Takes a lot to untangle the crap and control from your mind, I'm 64 now and I feel finally free and better still happy and free from fear and guilt.
I was raised Catholic by my mom (not dad). All the priests seemed nice, until I was in my late teens, when a new priest was transferred. Said that all non-Catholics go to Hell, and EVEN THEN... 99% of CATHOLICS go to Hell. I concluded that if the Hell-rate is that high, then God is a PSYCHO. Been an atheist ever since. I was 23. Now I'm 25

If I found out my school had paedophile teachers that were protected by the head teacher there's no way I'd let my kids go to that school and certainly no way I would help to fund it.
If catholics are comfortable funding the world's largest paedophile ring then that's a sad, sad situation. If catholics think that the catholic church isn't in fact, the world's largest paedophile ring then the judgement and morality of these people is seriously flawed. Regardless of whether catholic claims are true or not, for its paedophile activities over the centuries alone, the catholic church should be shut down for good.

Aaron asserts that he has found no compelling evidence for abiogenesis and yet Genesis 2:7 asserts that God made man from the "dust of the ground". Assuming that even Aaron doesn't believe that dust is alive, then the only possible description for what his God did is "abiogenesis". Has Aaron even read his magic book of fairytales?

And if only it had applications in the science of medicine, agriculture, environmental sciences. And if only it had a model to explain and predict what we are seeing in nature, a model that's been refined over 150 years with more and more precision. And if only ALL scientists agreed on the fundamental aspects of this scientific theory. [Note that scientific theory means that it's an explanation of the world that BEST explains what we see and has been bolstered by facts and observations.]

From my own perspective growing up a six thousand year creationist, I would've found reading such a book, or the idea of reading it, tedious. I was more interested in books on the end times or Christian encounters with demons, or near death experiences with heaven. That was much more exciting than reading a book on a subject I was so sure was false anyway. This was one of the major road blocks in my life in getting out of that mindset. Or at least looking at other perspectives. Plus it didn't help that I was convinced by other believers Satan was always planting false literature out there to lull me to hell in the end. That assertion of "Satan dresses it all up to sound so convincing" etc. Anyway, it was more exciting to read things that proped up my beliefs. Like now I find shows about ghostly encounters (I took them more as demonic encounters) so boring because I think the people are just lying about it and such. Where as before I found such shows fascinating. Same with subjects I mentioned above. Now a book on the end times or NDE sounds boring.

My mother was a non practising catholic so this nonsense was never forced upon me. I was raised a Catholic, and none of the priests and nuns who taught us religion in school were as sure and dogmatic as this trickster. Literally 2 seconds before he says "I haven't seen sufficient evidence for abiogenesis" let's set aside the actual evidence for it, that shows that he understands what are good reasons to believe something. They just have a little box in their mind that they put all this crap in and don't let logic anywhere near.

Most people have loyalty to the country or the religion they were born in simply because they were born into it. Its what you grew up with so its inculcated into you every day that this is the case.
THEISTS or Catholics, JWs, Born Agains, Muslims, Buddhists, Mormons, etc. are NOT worshippers of the Creator but worshippers of the Devil and NOT believers too of the authority and teachings of the Christ about the Kingdom of God and Resurrection of the Dead but believers of the anti-Christs' LIES and foolishness about Armageddon, rapture, hellfire, and reincarnation.
ATHEISTS are NOT worshippers of the Creator but worshippers of Harry Potter and Santa Claus and NOT believers too of the authority and teachings of the Christ about the Kingdom of God and Resurrection of the Dead but believers of the anti-Christs' fantasies and fairy tales about the Lord of the Rings, Spiderman, and Cinderella.
So, what will atheists and theists respectfully and reasonably discuss about God and Gods the origins of LIFE, creations, religions, the Creator and his Christ, Satan the Devil and his anti-Christs, and the Bible?
Its amazing how fact based evidence is ignored by those of faith, even ridiculed, because they think they're right? I'd love to see the day when America is a totally secular Nation, until then, its like trying to push a turd uphill with a stick.

The principal church in Scotland is the Church of Scotland. Several years ago humanist weddings started to outnumber CofS. They have been legal since 2005. Not in England and Wales - different legal systems. Not sure about Northern Ireland. I'm thinking about becoming a humanist celebrant but applications are closed as they work through the covid backlog.

England and Wales certainly have secular weddings and funerals. A humanist wedding would just have to also be legalised in a registry office.

Thank u Matt for your intellect and vids. I still want to believe in something, but that's my wants, I feel there's something more than this life. BUT, that's just my feelings, that I can't come close to proving. Feelings like something else out there, are all most likely in my head. I may be so indoctrinated or scared of death, that I may always reach for a belief in something. But you Matt and your colleagues, really help me, I haven't found one argument yet, that comes close to even a fair debate with you. Your a beast Matt 💪 👏
