The reason why I have subscribed to this channel and to their Patreon, is because of this man right here! I simply adore Pete Werner! When he rants, you feel the passion! So much respect for you, Pete. I couldn't agree more that these cast members deserve to be brought back in some capacity. I am also loving the cavalcades. Much easier to enjoy than a parade you have to get a spot for 30 minutes in advance.
Pete! That group of cast members at that Kadani gift shop have always been this way for years. Kadani is my home resort and I wake up and take pictures from that lobby as the sun comes up every stay. I wait for that gift shop to open and take the time to talk to those cast members. They tell me stories about themselves and their families that you would never know unless you set time aside to engage with them. Amazing people!
I am going to miss The Citizens of Hollywood so much! Betty Shambles was my favorite! The actress that played her was always so funny as Betty and you can tell she is genuinely a kind person in real life. I always looked for her every time I went to Studios. I hope and pray they bring The Citizens back! ❤️💫💫💫
It’s sad that most of the live entertainment was terminated. These are the things that make Disney unique and special. If this trend continues, there will be no extra special things to look forward to while going on a Disney world vacation.
Pete, We are long time listeners and HUGE fans of DisUnplugged. I have to admit that we have been very unhappy with the content over the last few weeks and have even stopped listening and/or watching. I came across this video on your social media and decided to watch. THANK YOU!!! It is refreshing to have the old Pete back. You were complimentary when you were happy and upset when you feel Disney is doing wrong by the equity actors. We have always appreciated your candor and we think highly of your opinion. Keep it up.
I loved Iger, so it surprised me when he named Chapek. What surprises me even more is that he doesn’t even recognize that he will fall into the same mistakes that Eisner fell into, when you prioritize economic efficiency over creativity and connection with guests, you are always going to lose. You can’t trick Disney people, we have experienced the best, so we are going to except the best.
I've worked in parks with management that hated entertainment. Spending a billion dollars on a new land or giving execs huge bonuses is no big deal yet the idea that they are forced to pay some employees a decent wage seems to enrage them. The entertainers all hate you Bob.
I agree that Lex Luthor is the wrong person to run Disney. He is unimaginative and does not have the vision needed to guide Disney through this pandemic!!!
I have to agree. Those individuals are paramount to the parks and a literal part of the Disney character and experience. Till then... Stay safe, be well and fun.
Great commentary. You're absolutely correct a lot of these changes and cuts have been on the table and will not be coming back. I will include, daily housekeeping, luggage delivery, price increases. The parks have stepped it up in cleanliness due to covid but prior you could see the decline in such things. Table service's lack up busboys had made the restaurants less clean. Food quality had been taking a dive.
Thats the real magic. Little touch of kindness. I love the cast members. Not visiting Disney this year. And i really hope that we can in 2021. Thanks for your show.
So sad that I don’t know when I will ever go back. It’s not so much being in the parks as much as all the travel to get there. I’ll just continue to watch you guys and be happy you can enjoy it!
I also agree that the cast members are so grateful to be back, and it shows. I also feel like laying off all of the Equity Actors was a terrible thing, and seemed like a money saving move, and not because of Covid. If they could rethink the parade with cavalcades safely , they could rethink the stage shows safely! Thank you Pete for saying what so many of us have been thinking!
I wanted to comment on cast member service. All the cast members at the Boardwalk Inn Resort are wonderful and service oriented to the guests, but the cast member that is at the Bellevue Room in the morning is simply superb delivering service with a smile. She is wonderful and I feel that it goes unnoticed to the management. She brightened up many mornings at the Boardwalk Inn.
LOVE LISTENING TO PETE!!! HE GIVES UPDATES, THAT YOU WON'T HEAR ANYWHERE ELSE, AND I LIKE HIS HONESTY!! HE TELLS IT LIKE IT IS; HE DOES NOT SUGAR COAT ANYTHING;; IF SOMETHING IS GOOD, HE WILL LET YOU KNOW; AS WELL AS NEGATIVE THINGS; AT THE RESORTS, REST. ETC. HE IS PASSIONATE; AS DISNEY LOVER, AS I AM MYSELF. THANK YOU, FOR YOUR WEBSITE.
Thank you, Pete for this great video. Everything you said here rings true for me and my family as well. Though we haven't had the pleasure of getting to the parks since February pre-Covid (though unbelievably thankful we were able to complete that trip), I've watched and supported a lot of the Disney World community via RUclips streams and of course the awesome DIS Unplugged videos on this channel. I feel something inside me that some day, like you said within the next 12-18 months (my guess is on the sooner side) that most of these incredible Cast Member Performers will be back producing magic in all the ways we love and cherish every trip to Walt Disney World. I'm looking forward to the channels videos in the coming weeks when you're back! Stay safe and enjoy.
It's hard to social distance with the amount of people they are letting into the parks. Disney needs to modify this especially now going into the Holiday season.
I agree that it is going to take pressure from Disney customers to bring back the entertainment. Also, when a Cast Member does something unexpected at just the right moment in time, definitely thank them. Also, take it one step further: note their name and where they are from. Fill out a compliment card with guest services or the front desk. The Cast Member gets recognition by their managers and it reminds management that these simple, unexpected moments of kindness are WHY we keep coming back to Disney.
Enjoyed your day with a guide. Missing going to parks for Christmas. Thank-you for showing us the parks, when we can't go. You all make my day. Pete I enjoy you telling like it is.
Thanks Pete for raise your voice and tell in a video who many of us also affirm. These entertainment lay offs were a huge disappointment. If Frozen Sing Along came back, there’s a creative way to keep some shows like Indiana Jones or Lion King, these last lay offs are a huge miss to Disney parks soul.
The magic is still alive 😭 I love hearing this story about that Cast Member and knowing you felt extremely safe at the parks. Thanks for sharing 😊🤗. Missing home 🏰 so much 😢.
I have not had steady work for almost a year but chose to renew my Annual Pass. I had hoped this small contribution and others renewing their passes would help keep some Castmembers employed. It devistated me to hear so many hardworking people lost their jobs.
I was talking to a cast member, who has been with Disney for many years, told me that Disney (for years) has no control over the pay for equity actors, and has been trying for years to get rid of them. According to the cast member, after 911, Disney discovered that they could use disasters as an excuse to get rid of the equity actors. I guess this was too good for them to let pass. They, Disney, even got rid of the band, after 31 years, at the Grand Floridan to put in a bar to attract a younger audience (not the correct demographics for that hotel). Because of this, and some of the planed attractions scheduled, will not be open, I did canceled my 2021 trip (two suits, 9 adults, 2 grand kids). To me, a lot of the magic is the street actors, character meet-and-greet, shows, parades, and fireworks.
The live shows are a huge part of the Disney experience. These actors could have been utilized in other capacities. It really is a slap in the face when you hear of Disney executives taking in large bonuses. I for one will not return to the parks until there is some semblance of "normal". It's hard enough that certain restaurants and shops aren't open. It simply isn't worth the money for me at this time. I would be comparing it to my prior Disney vacations, and I don't want the disappointment. The Disney executives are walking a fine line. If they continue to take away the "magic", other Disney fans may just decide the trip isn't worth it too.
Agreed. It’s not about the safety at this point. It’s about the fact that the corporate Disney behemoth is stripping away the very heart of why we all love to spend time (and money, hint hint) at their parks.
I went like two months ago where the capacity was like 15% and it was great. Not hat crowded. Now that a lot of people are going I don’t feel comfortable
The lay offs in entertainment were the first thing that made me think "is this still worth my money and time?" I still renewed my pass but if they never are brought back it may be the end for me even as much as I love the parks. If the experience isn't special anymore there is no reason to go. It's not even the price, I have no problem paying for a price for a premium product, but if it's no longer premium I'm out. Never thought I would say that
I have to agree. Most of us are understanding of the financial strain they're under, but entertainment is a big factor to me as well. I really dislike how the business side of Disney is run. I've been debating the same thing for a while now. I want to support the castmembers there by going but I also don't know how much longer I can support the company side of it, if that makes any sense.
When things return back to some semblance of normalcy some of the shows have to come back. It is not WDW with just rides. These amazing cast members help to make WDW the wonderful destination vacation that we continue to return to over and over again.
Thanks Pete. Thanks for today's rant, thanks for donating the cruise to the raffle. Hope we get a glimpse at the new office look (did you replace the desk with a doom buggy?).
I sure hope the the bean counters at Disney don't give Jeri a hard time for giving away a free coffee. Employees like Jeri are one of the best parts of going to the Parks.
I think they should have taken the Hoop Dee Doo Revue and retooled the show for outside. I think people would love to go the Hoop Dee Doo BB-Q Hoedown Picnic. The tables can be spaced out and they can make a stage and boom jobs saved and people get a unique experience, everyone wins.
Good to hear. Glad it went well. I agree it is a different experience for sure. Totally agree that Lex Luthor wanted to purge the entertainers and used this as a cover.
We went recently..different but still found magic. I loved the cavalcades...keep those forever..better than parades as short and a surprise. We never ate inside...so finding food was a challenge..that was the biggest issue
We live in WI, were there 2 times in 2019. January (that really nasty cold spell) and then August/Sept. I could not do a mask either time. We have a young adult son with cerebral palsy and he cannot tolerate a mask. Great Movie Ride was his favorite ride. We will come back when no masks are required.
I would be really mad if I paid Deluxe pricing to stay at Jambo House and Boma and The Mara were closed. Masks, limited dining options, inconsistent transportation, and no entertainment? I don’t know if I will be back to Disney until they get back to normal.
I wonder if cast members are being even more nice now that the parks aren't jammed wall to wall with people. Less stress for them with fewer guests complaining every 2 seconds! 😊
Many cast members live near me. We’re very near MK. They used to be very friendly. No longer. It was so bad I had to stop greeting them because of their acrimonious response or no response. Now I know why. I hope Disney’s poor treatment of cast members does no harden their hearts permanently. These are extremely hard times but one day they will pass and exist only as a memory.
Pete, it is good to hear about the change to the old magic service. When I first went to WDW in 2006 a d 2007 the service was amazing. So many little things were done to make us love WDW. As time went by I began seeing garbage in the parks, rude cast members, open back doors in the Pirates of the Caribbean Q, Chef Mickey character's back zippers open in showing the cast member underneath... These things really take away from the experience. I hope the trend is swinging back to the magical service and.attention to detail that made Disney so special.
Here is my response to the decision regarding laying off the equity actors at Disney World. "Disney World, as you near the age of 50, I have seen the pandemic affect you in ways thought to be unimaginable. You have given us many magical moments and great memories over the years, and I am grateful for that. However, you are now fraught with corporate greed, and inadequate management, who make careless and terrible decisions about what matters most to your guests. You may still have a heartbeat, but your soul is gone. RIP WDW!" #FIRECHAPEK
I was thinking. Wdw will probably never be the same again. I fear we have seen the best of it. Even before March. There was changes. Like the welcome show in magic Kingdom..gone. shows, entertainment, really good cast members, very clean parks. They cut entertainment in epcot to the point of nothing now. Just watched something on disney + and it showed the good morning train show at MK. It was a great way to start the day. Now with hoopdy gone. Ye ha bob. And others. It just seems like in a year or two...they will not bring back or replace.
I completely agree with Pete! Me and my family were there early last month and it was definitely different than our previous vacations there in the past. Wearing the mask in the heat and humidity was almost unbearable. And the parks were more crowded than what we were expecting them to be. Having to mobile order everything and the menus being cut down to almost nothing and then with the shortened hours, no after hour parties, no fireworks, no night time shows and no live entertainment it was definitely different. Our family is huge Disney World fans and we did manage to have a good time but it’s just not the same as what it was in the past and I’m hoping and praying that everything goes back to normal soon.
I totally understand your concern; I'm diabetic too. Everytime I check an "update of the unpleasantness; it's never good". I'll just leave it at that. We still have not gone into a restaurant. We'll get take out; but that's it.
Pete, I totally respect what you're saying and support your decision to do what makes you feel comfortable. I'm a RN here in central florida. I've been back to disney once and in resorts twice now. I'm very cautious. I feel as comfortable at disney as I do in my place of work (hospital). I don't feel uncomfortable indoors or eating inside. Disney just does a phenomenal job of spacing people out inside. i won't even eat at a local restaurant but I'm comfortable at disney. Glad you had a good experience!
They know many visitors do not care much but these people have to be back. They are more core to Disney then any ride they have. They set the tone, magic, and make the difference. Disney (business) is not making the most profitable decision as they think they are. Back firing.
As someone that was going to visit WDW in 2021. From the UK and similar health concerns, it not safety of the parks. However outside the park's, its the lack of masks and social distancing, controlling numbers in supermarkets etc and general COVID SAFETY we are undertaking in the UK and Europe. I have seen many videos of events in Florida outside the parks with no Covid safety shown. I cannot see my family and I returning until 2022 at the earliest.
Just a idea couldn’t they put say FOTLK singers and actors on top of the buildings in Africa waving at people and engaging that way?? They could perform and sing from the buildings?? I do like the calvacade idea but, if you want something a little different place them in different parts of the park. Put them on rooftops or something and same goes for the other actors of different shows. Now for Hoopty Dee Doo they could do that or maybe have them sing on bay lake? Like as guests are coming into Fort Wilderness Resort campground the Hoopty doo cast could be on a pontoon singing and waving to guests as they come in?? Just a thought
We need to have Josh D'Amaro as CEO; he seems to be the only one that cares what happens to the cast members of Disney World and the guest experiences. To me Disney was more than just rides. I loved all the shows and pray they will return as soon as this pandemic has ended. ☹
We were planning a large trip for our family this Christmas. Very happily willing to spend the money in spite of no fireworks or parades... but this was it. The streetmosphere and magic of the shows bring a magic to Disney and I can't support this. I am not willing to pay that price for a magical sixflags.
I loved The Citizens of Hollywood. They were the essence of Hollywood Studios. So sad to see them let go. I really hope they are brought back once Covid is all said and done with. It would be a huge disappoint if Disney decides to keep them gone permanently.
I know what you saying about not liking change. I hated it when they moved the Magic Kingdom morning opening ceremony from the train station. I hated it when the changed the Main Street Electrical Parade.
Don’t be nervous. We live about 6 miles from Magic Kingdom and go to the pros 3 to 5 times a week. Just mind the ground markings(cause some people won’t especially the tourists), wear your mask, bring multiple masks , bring sanitizer for when you get off rides if you want your own, and everything is great. There are no character meet and greets and no fireworks, but the Christmas decorations will be up and it’s still fun. We’ve also stayed at several resorts and Vero Beach last week. We feel safe, it’s, clean, and it’s made our year being able to have some sort of normalcy back.
I was just at WDW last week. With all of the protocols in place, I felt safer there than at restaurants and stores back home. Disney is handling things well.
I'm willing to bet my weight in Turkey legs, that most if not all these shows will never come back. These shows/performers can't be turned back on like a light switch let alone these performers have been there over 20 years and you can't replace that! At the rate the lack of entertainment is going, wdw will just be like 6 flaggs!
My husband my son and I went for the first time now in October and although I know allot is different we still had a great time. We went to CA Grill for dinner and they went above and beyond to make our night special.
Pete your Vlog gives me hope for returning to the parks. Thank you. I know that you do not take visiting the parks lightly and would never state anything that wasn't true. It is why I continue to watch and support your show.
I'm watching this on November 4th at 935AM and I must say that listening to your kind, comforting voice at this hour is exactly what I needed. Thanks so much for your clear take oon your experience and outlook. Take care and keep up the wonderful work.
Love a solo pete show. Very well said about how cast members impact us

We met her a couple weeks ago and I had forgotten my mug in the room and she gave me a cup of sprite and told me not to worry about it. So nice!
hope every one is well
I completely agree with Pete!
I think a great alternative for your example of Hoop Dee Doo is to do something like Thanksgiving at the Fort on a smaller scale.
I totally understand your concern; I'm diabetic too. Everytime I check an "update of the unpleasantness; it's never good". I'll just leave it at that. We still have not gone into a restaurant. We'll get take out; but that's it.
The magic is absolutely baked into the buildings
Such a beautiful sentient and boy is it true. I lived it today as I walked Downtown Disney for the first time in 13 months.
Glad you enjoyed the Park. Stay safe.
Well said Pete 👏
Oh the cast members are a wonderfully huge part of the magic. 😇
We love Pete! We Love Pete! You're the best. So glad to see you back into the parks!
Well said Pete! 👏👏👏
They know many visitors do not care much but these people have to be back. They are more core to Disney then any ride they have. They set the tone, magic, and make the difference. Disney (business) is not making the most profitable decision as they think they are. Back firing.
Thanks Pete, I agree the performers must come back. For myself, I will not go back to Jambo until the Mara and Boma reopen.
Thanks for this Pete...imagine a couple years from now (hopefully).....when we say "remember when?".
Explain why so many layoffs at disney world (which is open) and not at Disneyland (which is closed)

Love what you do my friend great show
My "Go to" for Disney and moving to Florida.
Great to hear from Pete and I so appreciate his honest opinions and his feelings on safety in the parks!
CM’s like Jeri are the reason Disney is the place it is despite the current leadership.
Pete, I respect you so much for this video.
Yes. Yes. Yep. Yes. Ty.
I loved The Citizens of Hollywood. They were the essence of Hollywood Studios. So sad to see them let go. I really hope they are brought back once Covid is all said and done with. It would be a huge disappoint if Disney decides to keep them gone permanently.
That could place a thousand laid off CMs in yellow shirts and in the extended cues. They are woefully short on cast. My opinion.
I know what you saying about not liking change. I hated it when they moved the Magic Kingdom morning opening ceremony from the train station. I hated it when the changed the Main Street Electrical Parade.
I'm glad you got a chance to get back into the parks! It was so nice to see you Pete! Take care of yourself!
Making my way back for the first time in two weeks! I am so nervous but so excited!
@rwatt5931 No I meant I'm going in two weeks for the first time in a while lol
Just getting a hot second to watch. Always love seeing Pete In The Parks. #100
Very good
Great show
Pete your Vlog gives me hope for returning to the parks. Thank you. I know that you do not take visiting the parks lightly and would never state anything that wasn't true. It is why I continue to watch and support your show.
Well
Said Pete!
Pete, I am so glad to see you back in the parks and how grateful you are just to be back!!
Makes me feel more at ease about my upcoming Christmas trip! Thanks Pete
I'm watching this on November 4th at 935AM and I must say that listening to your kind, comforting voice at this hour is exactly what I needed. Thanks so much for your clear take oon your experience and outlook. Take care and keep up the wonderful work.
love it
