Sings in 15 languages - just added Spanish to his repertoire - 7.7 octave vocal range - degree in Opera, Master's in Composition and his doctoral thesis in Musicology - check out his concert in Almaty, Kazakstahn from last year - his solo concerts have usually 100-150,00 fans in attendance - from opera to rap and everything in between -

Actually, he was a relative unknown going into the show. It's a talent show like The Voice, but all the contestants are professional singers. They wanted an unknown to open the show. He had to quickly sign a professional contract in order to fulfill the professional requirements. The fans were just hyped because it was the first song of the show. This unknown man just walks out and drops this on national Chinese TV. He collected something like 400M Instagram followers that night.

Dimash was 22 in this performance. Now 29. He has a 7+ octave range.
He began his classical/operatic vocal training at age 5 and also began his classical instrument training at the same time. Later he began training in contemporary and pop and almost always combines all of his abilities in a song He has perfect pitch and was playing classical piano pieces well before that. His grandmother entered him in Kazakhstan's premier music school for youth when he informed her their piano was out off pitch.
This sing off is in China and this song and performance flung him into world dominance as a singer, while he has remained virtually obscure in the U.S.
He completed his PhD in Musicology this past spring then moved to L.A. to obtain a degree in Film Directing. His concert schedule is quite heavy so the film degree may take him awhile.
He is kind, quiet but articulate, loving, often seen walking around with babies or children of his fans while in an airport. He will always give up his seat for elderly or infirmed.
Highly respectful, adores his family, (Grandparents, parents, siblings, extended family and longtime familial friends) He is a strong patriot of Kazakhstan, his homeland.
His ethnicity is Eurasian and is 6'3" tall. He was raised fluent in Kazak and Russian, and pretty good in English and Chinese Mandarin.
This performance is almost childlike compared to what he does now. I hope you react to much more of this phenomena.

He sings in 16 different languages (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin), plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in musicology (has a Masters in composition). After digesting those performances, I can't stress enough my recommendation for one of his most recent songs and music video (mini movie) the artistic masterpiece "The Story of One Sky" that he wrote the screenplay for and spent 3 years composing the music for, which displays a lot of his range (not all) and soooo many vocal techniques and dynamics, including sub harmonics, whistle register, bass, tenor, baritone, classical, jazz, pop, rock and unreal metal screams....and unbelievable dramatic acting. I’m with you on his lower register. I suggest his performance of Adagio from the Singer 2017 show (every other version is inferior). Outstanding low belting, power and intensity in this song.

This performance was his official exposure to the world. He has improved a lot. He sang the same song on his 2021 Digital Concert with maturity. This young man has a master's degree and working hard to get his PhD degree despite his hectic schedule. He is currently staying in the US, but he keeps on performing at different stages around the globe.

Frank was right. Although this is the song and performance that introduced Dimash to the world, it truly just barely scratches the surface of his vocal and creative abilities, both of which are nearly endless. There has never been anyone like him and I doubt there ever will be. Sings in virtually every music genre known to man (and in 15 languages), plays seven instruments well, has fan clubs in 150 countries. Dare I say even more talented than MJ? Yes, I dare say it.

He is from Khazakhstan which means his first language is Russian. This song is from a French musical called "Starmania". Dimash learned it because he heard how hard the song was to sing so he took it on as a challenge. If you keep checking out his songs, you'll find that he has songs in English, Russian, French, Italian, Chinese, and Japanese. He has his own songs he has written, does covers, and works with a man named Igor Krutoy who is some sort of Russian billionaire oligarch composer who came out of retirement just to write songs for Dimash. Their collaborations are always off the charts. You can see Igor in "Sinful Passion" at the end in the front row standing up to applaud him. I think they started collaborating after that. You'll often see Igor accompanying Dimash on the piano.
Be warned: every single song Dimash does will surprise you. As soon as you think you know what Dimash will do, he blows your mind.

This song is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight in 2017 (The Singer).
The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' (1978) and is known in the English-speaking world as Tycoon (1995). Music: Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon (French original text). The English adaptation is by Tim Rice.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day bodyguards were at his door and now he is a superstar but without airs... just our Dimash.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

Dimash is from Kazakhstan, been studying since age five, he’s now 29. Sings most genres from opera to rap, plays a few instruments, sings in 14 or so languages, speaks Kazakh, Russian fluently, pretty ok in English now and some mandarin. But he remains the most humble person, respectful, patriotic and loving. Try Stranger from new wave 2021. It’s like a game of thrones film score, in English and epic.

Kiwi Dear here. Welcome to the most amazing rabbit hole ever dug. I vaguely remember hearing him do Diva Dance quite a few years ago but became a full-blown dear 3 1/2 yrs ago. I've been happily navigating the Dimash tunnels since. Now that you've tasted the appetiser, I highly recommend Sinful Passion, Olympico, Stranger, and Ave Maria as your entree. After that, the course choices are determined by which tunnel you're in at any given time.
Oh, and if you listen to another Dimash song or this one a second time, you automatically qualify for Dear status. So, I'm guessing it's safe to say, "Kia Ora to the club Dear." 😜

SOS is Dimash masterpiece!! It is an existentialist song, about ups and downs in life, depression and death, when you feel you don’t belong here.
The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. Dimash is a world class artist from Kazakhstan, turned 29 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Ukrainian/Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He started his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 15 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He started taking voice (opera) and musical instruments lessons when he was five. He sings in 13 different languages and does a great job and is getting better. He is fluent in Russian and his native language of course, but is studying Chinese and English. He got his master is Music Composition I think.He scored a perfect 100. I think he is sent from the Heavens. We should listen as he tries to unite the earth. Thank you for your wonderful comments about him.

This as a number of years ago--his lower register is even better than it was here. If you like his low voice, you might enjoy El Amor in Ti, where he sings extended portions of the song in various registers.
I also really love him singing in his lower register.
Sinful Passion and Omir/2023 both have plenty of lower register. Use captions as lyrics are beautiful.
Stranger shows a much wider range but there have been Copyright issues as of late so add snowflakes, block, or blur video.

If you like his deeper tone. You would like Sinful Passion and Olimpico. Although, my favorite is Stranger. Any song by him is wonderful. He sings in 15 languages and plays 7 instruments. He is fluent in 4 languages. He is classically trained since the age of 5. He has a 7-octave range. His fans are called "Dears". He has fans all around the world. He is well-known for his kindness and love for his fans. He is from Kazhaztan and is 29 years old. Enjoy!🙂

You've barely touched the tip of the iceberg in terms of what Dimash can do. He is amazing and considered by many to be the best vocalist in the world. I would suggest Sinful Passion next. But for fun, he just recently (a week ago) released a remake of an old folk song called Dudarai that he sang live in China. That shows yet another side of him.

Dimash is very special. And you have could choose a more recently video of S.O.S., but he is always stunning. You cannot put Dimash in one box. He is a free bird in his art. Hearing one song shows only one part of his talend. Thank you for your reaction.
Much better though to catch this version first. In fact it would be better if you listen to ALL of his performances in this competition, his first outside of Kazakhstan. He was a wild card, am unknown write in with absolutely no chance of placing much less winning in this primarily Chinese competition of 'I Am Singer' (2017) ... until he opened his mouth. One should listen to all 12 of his performances in this competition before moving on to other performances. Get a good time line and then listen to him sing 'S.O.S.' (Slavic Bazaar), 'Unforgettable Day' (GAKKU), 'Ave Maria', 'Stranger' and any number of his instrumental performances. He's that good but PLEASE take his entrance into the outside world in order of his performances. Remember, these other performers just had to be wondering how they could follow such a performance.

This happens to be the song and the performance that ultimately propelled him to worldwide recognition. You will find as you listen to dimash more that this song doesn't even come close to his lowest or highest notes. Mariah Carey wishes, she doesn't have the seven plus octave range that he does. He does have songs where he stays pretty much in his mid to head voice mix range. If you really want to enjoy his higher register I would suggest reacting to his version of Ave Maria. If you want to hear a song that comes close to his lowest and highest notes I would recommend Stranger. Both of these are performances from the New Wave 2021 performances.

This version initiates so many to Dimash. This is a mild song and not nearly most of his range. You'll find out more as you go. But he, Diane Ankudinova, Angelina Jordan all have many many RUclips videos with songs of great quality and deep satisfaction. His version of Ave Maria written by his composer may be the most beautiful thing ive ever heard.

Hi, from a Las Vegas Dear. (ardent fan) of five years. Dimash was 22 here and the first (and youngest ever) contestant on a Chinese competition tv show. He had to make an immediate great impression on the audience so chose this particular song because it showed his range and power. It is the first song the majority of his fans ever heard him sing and has become his calling card. BUT, it is just one of over a hundred songs you can find him singing on You Tube. He has sung just about every genre you can imagine except for Country. He truly is amazing with his voice AND his humanity. There's so much more to discover about him and I hope you do at least three or four more performances of his. Thanks for reading. 😊
