- In this video I demonstrate how I play the two-handed tapping intro-riff and the slap bass part that follows.
Idioglossia comes from Pain of Salvation's thirst studio album ' The Perfect Element pt. I" (2000 - Inside Out Music).
(E-string tuned down to a D)

Lilium Cruentus has that beautiful fretless bass playing... or In the Flesh... If I had my way I'd have you play through your whole PoS catalog! :D Thank you for this.
Maybe the bass line in the first part of Waking Every God before the verse
In The Flesh before the ascending outro is one of the most beautiful moments in all music. That 7/8 section with the fuzzy guitar and piano.
Such an amazing yet charming bass part! Personally, I'd love to see that last sweet fretless part of Martius/Nauticus II, love all the bass on that album, but man that specific part is just glorious, thank you Kristoffer, you are a great influence on lot of us!
YES! One of my fave parts of possibly my fave album
I have started listening pos at 2002, when I was 17, in Istanbul. I loved all your albums, especially One Hour by the Conctrete Lake. Thanks to youtube for giving me chance to salute you! Thanks for your wonderful music that defined my character, my playing, and my music taste.
Oh man, imagine trying to find your way back into this tapping riff at full speed..
Fantastic tutorial though!
It was always fun the second time it comes in the song. Just hold on to your hat and go full in... Don't look back, don't look down! :)
Oh man I'd really love to watch a Waking Every God playthrough. Such a sassy bassline!
Amazing! I'm curious about Dea Pecuniae..
man.. dat fretless gorgeous tone
I feel so thankful! I can't believe one of my top 3 bass players read my comment! (either that, ore more than one requested the same 🤣🤣🤣). Anyway, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the world! You're an amazing musician!
❤️
Wow. Amazing. I freaking love this part, this song, and your playing. Now I have to practice!! 🤘🤘
Simply Amazing! 😍
I kinda learned to play this on the guitar and it was super fun! Except the slap part of course.
thanks for the video, I'm going to study, a greeting from Brazil ✅🇧🇷
Lo dije en Facebook. Y ahora lo digo aquí. Asombroso video! Muchos piden del BE, sería buena opción! Del entropía puede ser también. Pero comenzaste con esta que es una de mis favoritas de todos los tiempos!
A lot of stuff! But really, anything from "Be" would make me very happy
The intro was.. interesting :D
Waking every god has a great bass part in the beginning which is really hard to hear well in the mix (even the new one). I'd love to see that!
Awesome!!! Thank you for sharing! It'd be great if you could record a video playing "People passing by".
Aprendi! \o/
I learned this in high school 20 years ago and I was wrong haha I still can’t get that 4th tapping section. The 4 10 5 10 part gets me cuz I feel like I want to pull off to open again
Just go at it again. It's all about muscle memory (and a bit of groove) :)
Awesome! Do Dea Pecuniae next!
Fantastic mate :-)
Cool 🤘
Hey Kris, long time no see! If you even remember me of course, great video! What was that song again where you tune your lowest string to A? Loved that one
Cheers!
New Year's Eve springs to mind but I've tuned down on other songs too.
å helvete. har alltid spilt introen på kun D strengen. no wonder it sounded a bit thin..
have you thought about joining back with pain of salvation since i don’t believe they have a bassist right now? it would be great if there could be one more of the members from the best line-up of the band again. (daniel, langell, hallgren, hermansson, and yourself).
I forgot why the big machine couldn't be played live... not really a question in the sense of "can you make a video" but anyway... I forgot
We played it live for sure. Johan bought a special guitar just for the tuning of that song. He put a big "M" on it for "Big Machine".
We stoped playing it mostly due to the choir parts that just didn't sound as powerful live with four people, compared to whole choires on the album.
I'll look into making a play through video of this song.
@@KristofferGildenlow you don't know what I would be willing to give to see the original 5 members playing that song... I'll guess everyone needs a dream to ask Santa 🎅 every year! Can't wait to see you play live again and hand you over the Swedish flag I promised you (nu weet je vast ongeveer wel wie ik ben 😉) keep on coming with videos, I totally ❤ them!
