I think you did the right thing paying the man even when his work was not what you wanted. That is the admirable thing to do. But first allowing him to at least try and correct it was also good. He might take pride in his work and giving him the chance to feel good about what he's done, so he can be proud in front of his children and family, is a good thing. I admire your patience and kindness.

I live in Canada right now but I'm looking to move. I have been looking at Central America because it is relatively close to Canada. I started looking at Costa Rica but changed my mind after hearing about how the crime rate and cost of living has risen. I am now looking at Nicaragua and can't wait to come explore. Thanks for your videos. Love them.

Nice! Good luck on the hunt! My advice is to travel to Nicaragua and spend some time discovering the cities before committing to buy. Cheers!

Funny story about wood - Back in 2004/2005, when I was a real noob, I asked an extended family member why so few homes were made of wood, so many was cement blocks.
He turned and said to my with a wry smile "Wood does not stop bullits" - I still laugh, and fear, that statement to this day.
We put Alumax sheets on the roof of our house after reading up on it...

So exciting! What most of your viewers need to understand is that the farm is two hours up on the mountains from a city large enough to find skilled labor. Since most don't own a truck, that becomes a large challenge for you too. In the expat communities where I live, finding skilled workers or even a general contractor is much easier. Still, a year plus to build a home is not uncommon here. The house is going to be amazing when it's finished. Such a beautiful place with spectacular views!
What are you going to do for power? Solar? Galvanized is good. I hope they spray painted the welds to prevent them from rusting. Have you considered screening in the deck/patio? Mine is and let me tell you it's a nice touch in mosquito season,. Can't wait for the house warming party.

    • @EmenseCoffee
      @EmenseCoffee  Месяц назад

Thanks Brett! We did spray paint the welds. I want to go solar, I am emailing company's to see if they want to work with me as a sponsor. I am hopeful I can find a partner! Cheers

I feel you. We bought a nice huge properly in ticuantepe on la concha never live in it . And is now up for sale since my dad passed away 3 yrs ago and i have no relatives in Nicaragua so there's no point of Us keeping that property . Is a 6bd 3ba huge backyard witj many frutal trees and view to the cordillera and nice terrace to sit and sip coffee watching the beautiful sunset. Very nice refreshing climate. But we pay $100 a month to a house keeper and when it comes to minor repairs due to no vacancy of the property we found this neighbor guy that knows the job ans have the skills but takes for ever to get the job done and its frustrating. I just pray we could sell that property ASAP. I can send you info and pictures if you know of anyone interested.
    Thank you for your time.
By the way greetings from Santa clara ( silicon valley California) .

Hi! Emense i have been following your channel I like your content
I seen my self on your experience.
Is like my dream own a farm in Nicaragua and be busy doing something
I have been living in the states and travel very obtén to Nica
Yeah you guess it .. I’m from Matagalpa.
And yeah I run on the situation about construction when I build commercial space to rent
The solution for that is you (owner ) have to be supervising the project.
    Nices videos keep up.

Great choice on material but it is just galvanized steel, not Aluminum. You don't have to galvanize aluminum. I am using the same material to build mobile chicken coops on our farm in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua.

Very nice tour. BTW: it's very expensive in America to build anything and the workmanship is poor... As far as an American moving to another country: Mexico is easy, still cheap in some places and the 6 month visa is easy, too. My dogs don't need a health certificate or anything special to cross the border. So Mexico is very attractive.
Nicaragua beats all other countries for its cost of living. So I would seriously consider Nicaragua. And I am planning on a visit next year.

I would like to move there and try it, however, I would like to buy a land and build my own house.
How do you find an architect to make sure they do things right? Is this a good idea or a contractor would do?
What is the process of the paperwork when buying a land or house over there as far as finding an honest attorney and people involved?
How can you buy directly from the owner instead of going through a realtor?
When you left CA, did you bring your stuff with you or did you sell everything and came with nothing? I live in CA as well.
Did you bring your vehicle or did you buy one in Nicaragua?
I know, I have so many questions but it’s getting so expensive over here that I’m keeping me options opened. Thank you in advance for your answers.
