Mike Dierickx's Push guise is a world renowned name in many the many facets of dance music, particularly within the trance genre. Since 1994 this guy has been putting out top quality sounds, from Acid Hysteria to Da Story. 1998 was the breakthrough year in many respects, it was the year that Universal Nation was born, the rest is history. Surprisingly - for an artist who had been around for a long time - his first album didn't arrive until 2000. From Beyond showcases multiple trance hits from Push such as Universal Nation, Strange World and a tribute to the late great Marino Stephano. This one got a re-released in 2004 as CDr on Banshee Worx and 2007 as MP3 on Bonzai Back Catalog.

Nonsense. The DuMonde remix is far superior to the original. M.I.K.E. is a good composer but his sound was never state of the art and sounds incredibly dated 25 years later. DuMonde took the melody line from the original and rebuilt the track from the ground up and doing a MUCH better job because their sound was simply a couple of years ahead of that of the original.
Legendary remixers like DuMonde, Scot Project, Alphazone, or Cosmic Gate (before their sound went down the drain when they quit producing hard trance) always exceed the quality of the original. Often by a substantial amount. Some of the greatest trance records ever made are remixes and it was one of the things which made the genre thrive during its heyday. The fact that a brilliant producer could take a mediocre track and turn it into greatness. Or in this case, take a good track with some shortcomings (like an unadvanced sound) and substantially improve it.

A song you can't remix. It's so perfect, it's a classic. You can't do better than this or you'll alter it's purity.

Absolute nonsense. DuMonde remixed this and produced a track lightyears ahead of the original. The riff from the original is good but the rest of the track is just mediocre and sounds incredibly dated. DuMonde were much better producers and had developed a sound that was really advanced for the time so it's their remix which withstood the test of time better and can still hold itself pretty well compared to modern uplifting trance.
@@markm9096 Nee. Het is simpelweg niet correct. Deze track is diverse keren geremixed en in ieder geval de DuMonde remix en de cover van Masif DJs in zowel de Steve Hill vs Dark By Design remix als de D10 remix, zijn beter dan het origineel. Stukken beter ook. En da's niet een kwestie van smaak. Er gebeurt gewoon veel meer in. Zo heeft de DuMonde remix een rollende bassline, wat de plaat een stuk energetischer maakt, en is de afmix ook hoorbaar beter. M.I.K.E. Push is als melodieënmaker erg goed maar zijn oudere producties klinken inmiddels ontzettend gedateerd. Die van DuMonde hebben de tand des tijds gewoon beter doorstaan omdat ze simpelweg als producers hun tijd ver vooruit waren. De vergelijking met de D10 en de Steve Hill vs. Dark By Design remixes is eigenlijk niet eerlijk omdat die jaren na dato zijn verschenen (en dus sowieso veel moderner klinken) maar hoe je het ook wendt of keert, ook in die versies gebeurt een stuk meer en de sound is een stuk geavanceerder terwijl de onderliggende muzikale ideeën intact zijn gelaten.
Legendarische remixers zoals DuMonde, Scot Project, Flutlicht/SHOKK (beide projecten van dezelfde producer, Marco Guardia), Alphazone en Cosmic Gate (voordat die in 2004 stopten met goeie muziek maken en overstapten op slaapverwekkende prog trance) slagen er ALTIJD in om het origineel te overtreffen. En deze plaat is geen uitzondering. Ik zou als DJ zijnde niet weten hoe ik het origineel in een moderne uplifting set kan draaien, die wordt compleet overvleugeld door de platen ervoor en erna. Dat kan met de DuMonde remix dus wél.

Because DJs tend to favour playing recent releases and fitting in a very dated sounding oldie from 25 years ago isn't the best idea given the massive contrast in a full and complex arrangement typical of modern uplifting trance vs. the emptiness of an old track. When they play classics in a non-specifically classics set they tend to pick tracks that, in terms of sound, compare well to modern production standards. A SHOKK or Flutlicht tune from 20+ years ago can hold itself well if sandwiched in between 2 modern uplifters. This one cannot. Because, despite of his enormous musical output, Mike Dierickx was never really the most advanced sounding producer. His tracks became popular because of the musical ideas in them being good, not because they sounded state-of-the-art for their time.
