Benjamin Zander's Interpretations of Music: Lessons for Life
Dave Jamrog Audio/Video
I could watch Bach music being analyzed and dissected for eternity.
I can’t believe that Boston Philarmonic doesn’t care about having a piano in tune for Ben... it’s not too much but it would make a difference. Please 🙏🏼
So great music is something that passes to the audience's hearts through the player's instrument if played competently (according to the appropriate historical context).
Love this performance since it has a unique arrangement and I deeply musicians' emotive/passionate performance. As a composer of original music themes for comics performed on the guitar who trained musically on piano and the viola in secondary and college bands as well as orchestras, I love hearing various instruments to get new ideas for my original music. The musicians' playing did just that with such a lovely musical experience!
Ohhh the end!! Was just soo brilliant! Go him!
That viola is the most beautiful viola I've ever heard, wow. It's better than mine!
Please sort that piano pedal and tuning out....Please please (it hurts and I have an ear like an Old Boot so I was told) right? These Videos are here forever hopefully. A Ben Zander legacy how wonderful.
Incredible stuff again Ben !! 😊
It is clear the young man has great musical potential. Zander can talk musicians down by calling them "competent". No doubt, this student had a competent teacher. Astonishingly, competency does not include context (with the basic homework at its basis), interpretation, the theatrical effect of performance, nor artistic freedom.
That morning the least he expected was he was going to end up taking dancing lessons from Benjamin Zander instead. 😁
They need to get rid of the squeaky piano pedal :(
Unless the squeak is from Benjamin Zander's shoe buckles?? :D
And tune the piano >.> Auch
How does one attend those lessons as an observer? I am visiting a friend around christmas in boston. I would love to experience this live.
4:24 Professor...you're actually standing in 3rd position. 1st position is heels together, 3rd is heel to instep.
lohphat, true. But he is left footed? 😂
Beautiful, as usual... but please fix that piano noise !!!
Handel's Sarabande (orchestra played over PA) potentially is already awkwardly slow for people having to go through the movements.

I play the piano but fuck it. I do would love to have a masterclass with him
9:04 would have been more the tempo at a court with experienced cocky dancers who want to show off their dancing skills to the others
Very odd bowstrokes🤔
Geez...how about getting a CELLIST to play this? I'll volunteer myself.
