asian lady ??? You don't recognize the Empress Masako of Japan. You do realize that NOTHING in terms of aristocracy and blue blood ever tops the Japanese Imperial family. They are by far the most noble aristocracy still in existence today. You can't be serious and call Masako Sama the Empress of Japan, " the Asian Lady" . You do realize that Japan had emperors and empressed while europe did not even have kings and queen and countries like the UK and France didn't even exist. The Emperors of Japan were contemporary to the last Pharaohs of Egypt and saw the rise and fall of the Greek and Roman Empires and the Byzanti8ne Empire and the rise of ALL the western monarchies. And are still here today in straight male li8ne since the first emperor Jimmu over 2600 years ago.
Show some respect ! The Japanese Imperial families were discussing science and religion, art and philosophy while drinking tea, dressed in silk gold and silver brocades, living in palaces while the UK was still a land of savages who barely crawled out of caves.

An elegant form of greeting. Although, I think the trend towards shorter dresses has lessened some of the grace it has. Looking at someone's feet or legs while they do it somewhat awkward. Further, I can also appreciate that the head nod for men has not only survived into current royal protocol, but also as a courtly way for one man to greet another man they don't know on the street with brisk, polite acknowledgement.

The curtsy has a different form for shorter skirts. The right leg does not cross over the left at the back, but goes in a straight line back, held on the toe, and then the knee goes down. The back stays straight, and it is done slowly. It is not as deep as a formal curtsey.

I think that Princess Mary and Princess Grace of Monaco she is a wonderful addition to our European monarchies. Mary has set the extremely high standard on how to embrace the honour of representing not just a new country and language but also showed how devoted and loyal she is to the people of Denmark. MM could definitely learn a huge lesson from this outstanding role model. Mary saw it as a privilege alongside marrying her prince , Meghan just use us, our country and Harry as a stepping stone to the bright lights of Hollywood! Love from 🇬🇧

The visiting Monarch is the one to curtsey to the host Monarch. As a sign they are honoured to be invited and they come in peace. When they meet outside their both territories. They both curtsey as a sign of mutual respect for each other. But when there is controversy which has not been the case since the war times, then neither. But when one territory conquered another, through defeat, surrender or negotiation. They did it by way of curtsey and a bow as a sign of acceptance and respect to who they deem as the Monarch that is superior

@@Nimzzable Thank you for that detailed explanation. I did try to research and find this out myself a while ago but I just seemed to be finding conflicting and opposing answers. As you said, I think now that there are no rivalries or controversies, just a wonderful level of respect for each other and their respective countries (and of course that the majority - in Europe - are related) so would not require the high ranking monarchs to bow or curtsy when meeting.

Two monarchs never curtsy/bow to each other as they are of equal rank .
Only royals of lower rank curtsy/bow to royals of higher rank . Any two royals who are of same rank won't bow/curtsy .
And *Since no one is higher than the monarch , A monarch never bows/curtsies to anyone as all the people he/she meets is either lower than him/her or equal*
