    ----------------------Video Description----------------------
This is the first video in my book review series. In 2021 it's my goal to read a book a week, and I figured I might as well share with you guys all the books I'm reading. This book is called Existential Kink: Unmask Your Shadow and Embrace Your Power by Carolyn Elliot, PhD. It's about using a meditative practice to pull forward unconscious desires (or the shadow of your unconscious as Jung would call it) that are hindering our lives and making us suffer, and in this video I cover the key parts of what that practice looks like.

Thanks for this review. Ive been listening to Carolyn Elliott aka Lovewell on RUclips and trying to wrap my mind around the concept, but it didnt really click with me until I heard your example of "Alex wanting to be cared for".

Great video! I read the book about a year ago and it makes we want to delve back into it.

Nice book review. I read the book and struggled with the ‘get off’ part. It made me laugh. But laughter is sexual energy. And sexual energy is very powerful. I like how she says over and over As above so below. When you going for enlightenment we tend to forget the lower chakras. I made a meditation on releasing guilt and shame and it’s on my channel after reading the book.

I just watch one of your videos. The answers I want to ask are probably in the other videos. But can I ask you two questions anyway? Are you an INFJ in MBTI? What do you think of Stoicism?
    Anyways, great contents..
    Thanks..

Thank you for sharing, I feel like the book and you are allowing individuals to not heal from some situations that mask pain… sure embracing the experience of some sort of pain and pleasure is acceptable yet when one may be hurting themselves or another individual to fulfill your, their desire isn’t really ok. I think therepy is a better route. Hence, the major problem we have with pediphilia is and NEVER will be acceptable. It is abuse! I feel like this is giving permission for that shit!!!

Interesting, but I'll skip this book - I'd rather stick with good old Jung himself. Incidentally this practice of living out, or "regressing" to unacknowledged needs reminded me a little of Reich/Lowen.
Congratulations on 550+ subs. Looking forward to the next video!

I like this book because it talks about the shadow in a very accessible way, and it's also a fun read. I'd say Jung is a lot harder read for the average audience, so this is a really good recommendation for a lot of people to learn about their shadow.
And thanks so much! Thanks for sticking around and commenting on my videos. It really means a lot.
