Kind Thanks Banjo Hicks for singing and preserving these heartfelt stories set to music by our Ancestors! These are stories of Heart, Soul and Honest Truth! It’s of the upmost importance to keep this tradition alive! I do my best to do so as well, on my porch or kitchen with friends! Old Time Kitchen Music, the Heart of The American People of the land! For this Clifton, I am very grateful for your Art, Skill and Spirit! Many Blessings! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
excellent as always ! there is an amazing play in the lyrics, " there is a cross, and day is the cross for me ". compare this with the scripture " behold, the bridegroom comes at midnight ", and the parable of the 10 virgins. very powerful.
I enjoy your channel. It’s my favorite in the topic of banjo and banjo history. I’m learning banjo. 6 months into it. Keep sharing, playing and singing. Talented.
Sounds great. I gather that the banjo is simply (or not so simply, I wouldn't know) tuned to 432 hertz -- clicking on the video I thought you might have tuned it to that frequency in an audio editor. I'm just getting into electronic music and would love to hear your thoughts on the benefits of 432 hz as compared with other frequencies.
Thanks. I don't know much about it; just adjust my tuner drown from A=440 to A=432. It sounds a little richer to me, and which suits the woody instruments I use.
@@KittSpiken I'm on day 1 with Ableton and making crazy all-over-the-map microtonal techno stuff right now btw, haha. Aanyway.. didn't know Verdi was into 432 hz!
May we truly be ready. He’s coming for sure , just don’t know when. Ain’t going to be no time to get ready then. Gotta be ready now, hand on the plow. Could be tomorrow, could be a while. Don’t you wait till a later date. Even tomorrow may be too late. He’s coming for sure, just don’t know when. Won’t be no time t get ready then.
Do you leave the strings curled up like that or are you really changing the strings that often? Man I can't stand breaking in new nylon strings, takes so long for them to stretch out and breathe. I'm all about the OG Nylguts with the steel wound bass string too, by the way.
@@CliftonHicksbanjo I used some real gut strings and high string broke off right by the tail piece. Seeing as the set was so expensive, I have stuck with nygut since. I wonder if the old timers leaving a long tag on the gut strings had something to do with re-using the string if it happens to break close to where they tied it. I think good strings were pretty valuable back in the day.
May your lamp stay full of the pure oil of the living Christ and your flame continue to give light.
Sounds so darn good in that tuning. May we all be ready when the Bridegroom comes ☦️
Ole Ozark boy here.... You got gifts that make me soft in heart. Lord gonna bless yall!
Thank you sir

Perfect for our Sunday morning. Nothing like being outdoors playing and making a joyful noise. We’re about to do the same here!
Thanks Clifton, what a great start to a Sunday morning here in WA. I'll pick for a while before church. 🇺🇸
A good song for a Sunday. I love those hymns in that tuning. Amazing!
Sunday sharing time. Lift up your heads brothers and sisters!!

Keep fighting the good fight, Mr. Hicks!
Prodigal son about the Lord's work and an appearance by the cool cat. What a pleasant Sabbath surprise.
That's the sound I love, thanks Clif. Your voice is sounding especially great here too
This stuff where folk and the blues meet up is a treat

Your performances are excellent Clifton! Thank you
Great playing and singing Clif! Beautiful rendition of that ol' gospel tune.
Keep them coming, Clifton.

Guy this made my day God bless you thank you so much 👍👍👍
Glad to hear it.
The resonance on that banjo is so nice that it almost sounds like someone singing "ooooooh" in the background
Love your style and vocals . Keep it going please !!!!
Great song! Excellent performance as always!
Thanks, Dan!
so deeply moving
Sad and yet at the same time very sweet
A very complex feeling, very well played
Always felt like the banjos not a instrument u can sing along with it but with this slow clawhamer it is verry nice . Beautiful Clifton
The modern banjo has come a long way from its roots. Traditionally, it was always a rhythm instrument used chiefly to accompany song and dance.
Clifton always delivers the goods!
Awesome song !!!! Thanks for sharing this with us!!!
Hwy cliff, congrats on the marriage! I haven't noticed the ring before, but its front and center in this one!
Thanks. After ten years we finally went to court house.
@@CliftonHicksbanjo good on you both. I wish you both all the best and many blessings!
As the opening notes rang out, I literally sang out loud "There's a hill lone and grey in a land far away"..... LOL 😄
This is so good man
This video made for a great start to my Sunday morning. Looks like the Boucher is attracting new types of photo-bombers. 2:19

Very nice, good one man
Have you considered doing more gourd banjo type stuff?
I think your interpretation of a 'modern' gourd banjo would be really interesting.
Yes, I will build and play more gourd banjos in the future. Thanks for writing.
432 Hz 🙌

I’m have just seen in old photos they often left gut strings rolled up and uncut like that.
