I think you’re just trying to trigger me with your forgettable list 😂. I’m on a bit of a different wavelength when it comes to most of the mainstream Prog releases, but that is totally fine and your honestly is frankly very refreshing. I really love how you spotlight new bands and introduced me to so many albums I had not heard before this year! Thanks for all of your brilliant work and can’t wait to follow along with what comes next!
Powernerd lyrics hit so hard when heard through the filter of his separation from his wife. Unlike Addicted, the lyrical impact on Powernerd is profound.
PRR for me is more in the disappointments category; I felt the opposite as you did, I liked the previous two but did not connect with it. Surprises would be Oddleaf, Beardfish, Slift (yeah, again) or Six Months of Sun.
It really seems like a lot of people are saying the same thing, "Einar hasn't screamed in a Leprous record for years" and I have a bone to pick with that. 1 - He screamed in «Aphelion»'s last track "Nighttime Disguise". The song builds to its climax at the end and he brings out some very nice harsh vocal final lines just before the end of the album. 2 - This new Leprous album only has 1 section of screams, just like «Aphelion». That being said, it's still a disappointment for me too. I wanted more. Good but not amazing like «Pitfalls». Other disappointments for me include «GREIF» by Zeal & Ardor and «Shining» by Swallow the Sun. Also good albums but some of the choices they made are a bit questionable for me.
I noticed Axioms End and Truth of the Divine by Lindsay Ellis on the shelf. Both are good and I also really liked Apostles of Mercy the third book in the series.
You were doing great until you got to your ‘forgettable’ list, which was ridiculous, as it contained some of the best and most memorable albums of the year (BBT, Beardfish, IZZ, Pineapple Thief, Neal Morse, Kaipa, all of which were in my top25). As for surprises, mine would be the Circe Link-Christian Nesmith album Arcana, Albion-Lakesongs of Elbid, and Barock Project-Time Voyager, all of which were in my top 5 of the year.

@@NathanOnShuffle I almost wanted to start my "forgettable" section with "I'm so sorry Nathan!"
Another great episode.
I discovered Rosalie Cunningham when she was with Purson and toured with Ghost. I think everyone was mesmerized by her. Great artist!
Your video title says 2025, but you meant 2024. You said it right in the video. :-)
As an antidote to your disappointment in The Decemberists, try "Real Home" by Kiran Leonard (my #2 AOTY).

Its good that you just don't totally shit on albums that you don't like. Its a much fairer and respectful way of conducting it. All the best in 2025

2023/2024 were my favorite years since the mid 20-teens.

@@kristofferrosvall8709 I have the third book on my TBR shelf 😁
Thoughts on the new Frost* album? Finally got around hearing it a few days ago 👀
@@sabrethemoment6799 I put out a full review a few months back 👍
I am looking forward new album from lunatic soul, which apparently going to be last one...
@@maciejpiwowarczyk5496 if it's even a fraction as good as their last record we are in for a treat 😄
I liked Gilmours album...Frost album got overly long and lost my interest. I liked Weather Systems. Agree on Leprous.
Who's Anna Theema? Never heard of her.
@@soundsandvisionsHQ you're missing out on one of the best modern prog bands then. Real shame.
@@NotesReviews Well, I listen to a lot of Anathema, pronounced uh-NATH-uh-ma, and they are pretty great.
Luck and Strange is my favorite album this year. Totally disagree with you, but we all connect to different music for different reasons.
