Very cool stuff. Kilwa has always been fascinating to me. This massive civilization full of cities built of coral. Apparently some Kilwa coins have been discovered in Australia as well but it's not known exactly how they got there. Thank you so much for being a part of this collaboration!
I remember being taught about Kilwa in 7th grade history, but it was all extremely vague. Thanks for this, and may I say you have excellent production value for such a small channel!
I've rarely been taught anything about African history so researching for this video has been a blast. Also thank you, I work hard on my editing so that means a lot!
Really interesting. I studied archaeology at uni and have spent quite a bit of time travelling in Tanzania and yet I've never heard of Kilwa! Thanks for sharing.
Great video! I appreciate how you got into the Historiography, that was something I wanted to touch on with regards to my own topic in my video, but the script was ending up too long so I was only able to include a few brief mentions of conflicting accounts. I'm glad you could be a part of this project!
Thank you! While researching I kept running into the interesting historiography rather than the history, which is also interesting in its own right. I found it interesting and assumed others would too.
I've really just scratched the surface, I'm tempted to make another video to add details but I put the sources down for a reason and there are other cool stories to cover. I'm glad you liked it!
Nice video! Speaking of Mafia Island that name always reminds me of Mafia Town in the game A Hat in Time which is an Island filled with Mafia guys in the game. Though I'm pretty sure that's not the case for the real Mafia Island 😋

Thank you!

They absolutely are! such an interesting and unique culture
What an interesting place, can’t wait to watch this, this place always seems to be on the outside of the larger old world
Exactly! It's fascinating!

Bro you should have like 100x more subs this is such quality content
I'm glad you think so! Thank you!
Netflix hates history content but he will grow
Woo!!
Fascinating, if only we had far more detail about Kilwa and ancient subsaharan Africa in general

I guess you could say that Sicily is the unofficial second Mafia Island 😆
@@schrodingersmoose Indeed LOL XD
+15% yields for being suzerain of a city state and an additional +30% on all your cities for being suzerain of two is nothing to scoff at, after all.

Proud of the persian kilwa sultanate 🇮🇷
@SHIITE-IRAQI The Kilwa Sultanate was predominantly Sunni Muslim, following the Shafi'i school of thought.
