Yes it really is good though there are questions about how a plague and the building it was housed in are around. Though I have a lot on that considering a theory of a cat going into said facility and a whole lot of others on how a lab leak like that happened which may look up real lab leaks another part could be mistaking a refrigerator for a lab one or misplacing said viruses in somewhere happened in IRL too anyway may want to look that up and really that building would cost a lot may have had some tax problems in there along with who was building it like Star Wars Death Star as mentioned in the first Clerks had private contractors.
When they first broadcast this and they go through the opening credits panning the facility to the tune of Don't Fear the Reaper I was SOOO impressed. It was the best use of a known song in a movie I had ever seen to that date and even now so many years later I can't think of any better.
Whilst this is better than many Stephen King adaptations, I urge everyone to read the book which is far, far superior. One of SK's best standalone novels & certainly one of my favourites
It is not completely stand alone. Randall Flag in one form or another appears in more books. There is a hint to another world where there is a clown with silver eyes (Pennywise).
@chrisk1208 stand alone means one book...... it's immaterial whether or not the character appears in any other novel. By your definition, none of his books would be anything other than an episode in a series which encapsulates his entire catalogue. Read a dictionary
Is it like the rest of his books? Gory and graphic? I can handle some things but wondered if the stand might be slightly different than his other books in that way
I love his books. The Shining, The Stand, IT, all scared the bejesus out of me. All of his books are scary, creepy, and spine tingling, skin crawling. But those 3 made my hair stand on end. Still do. The Stand is too prophetic for words.
the Dark Tower series is my favorite Stephen King story, it's got lots of characters from his other books, the Priest from Salem's Lot, Randall Flagg from the Stand is one of the main bad guys, it's so good
Interesting enough: The Imp that is Randal in the 'Stand' is the same Imp in many other King novels. IT. Dark Tower. Ect. It is a force of evil beyond time, place, & realities that serve the C.K.
@@buddhamack1491It isn’t that horrible, but this was ruined for me when I met my new neighbor back in 2010, he played Randell Flag. Jamie is one of the nicest kindest people… so when I see his character I just laugh now. Took all the fun out of it. If you watched the newest one…you have people like Amber Heard who really can’t act.

Loved the book and enjoyed this movie just as much. Much appreciation to Stephen King and his incredible mind.. 🎉❤🎉
The clarity and smoothness on this version is fucking brilliant. Makes it look 10 years younger! Thanks for this bro! Also this version is way better than the 2021 version people ❤
@@JustinHappenstanceyup. Thats his schtic. A cameo in all his adaptations. Like Maximum Overdrive he appeared as 'guy using the ATM' in the opening sequence.
In the early '90s I remember seeing TV commercials for the Stephen King library. I was only 12 or 13 years old, but I convinced my parents to sign me up for them and the first book that arrived was The Stand. I had no idea what to expect when I began reading it, but over the course of about a month I felt like I had been on a rollercoaster. Although this movie was a fairly good adaption, I don't think it's possible to make a perfect adaption because the narrator in the book was such a vital "character" that was able to explain the other character's emotions so much better than any actor could portray.
I read this in 1919 (30 years old) and was fascinated by Stephen King’s writings horrors leading to moral messages. Saw the series before but this the first time all knotted together ready for the binge. It still impresses me at 75.
I was obsessed with this and any other post apocalyptic movie or book when I was a teenager. I owned this on VHS (remember those! lol), and watched it tons of times. Very well done
I have an idea for RUclips movie watchers. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a schedule of old movies like this where at a certain time the movie began and the audience could actually do live chats with each other during the movie? Let us just call it movie night.
It's called a watch party and they happen all the time. You can't do it on RUclips as it violates copyright. I'm sure you'll find them if you look though. Or set up your own
In the late 1980s.i used to attend an all night cinema in London UK called La Scala cinema. We would watch theme nights including Westerns, Science Fiction and Horror. This adaptation would have been a great ensemble to watch. We don't see such long series as often nowadays because the entertainment business thinks people have a shorter span of attention now.
*The Stand* was the first Stephen King book that I ever read. It was recommended to me by a little old lady branch librarian at the Seattle Public Library a block away from my rooming house. I read it all the way through non-stop over 36 hours in July of 1979 when I left the military at Ft. Lewis, Washington.
I read this book for the 1st time when I was 16 and have watched this movie roughly once a year since it aired in"94"… and I still enjoy it as if it's my 1st watch!!!! M-O-O-N… Spells A great masterpiece!!!!
The concept of an apocalypse, predates that squirrelly set of "visions", many prior cultures have a story version, though King is quite biblical in this one
I'm A 73 years old woman and I have seen this timely. I'm thankful it's a timely movie. And in these ending times it's close enough amidst Our daily prophecies that's being mentioned on the master's voice prophecy Blog. It's truth and wisdom amidst righteousness and holiness unto the Trinity Amen 🙏💖🌍✔️

Wow.. Topaz is amazing.. I've been messing with the demo and it's fantastic.. other than it taking very long to process. This video had to have taken a week or more. Thanks!
Wow, you’re absolutely right! It took an incredible 2 1/2 weeks to process this entire video, and that was even 2 years ago! I can’t wait to see what it would look like with the latest software updates. Imagine when Topaz Labs (or another program) introduces features that are truly next level-I’d be thrilled to try again! Stay alert for me!
Every generation thinks it's going to be the last. People have been waiting for the end of the world for two thousand years. It still hasn't happened. Why don't we stop looking for signs of the apocalypse in old books of fairy tales and historical fiction and take care of ourselves and this planet.

@@davidhanahoe8752 tnx fir the explanation, non native speaker here.
@@chrisk1208 Hahaha, sorry buddy..... I didn't mean to come across so aggressively......I'd had a few beers
Still do. The Stand is too prophetic for words.
the Dark Tower series is my favorite Stephen King story, it's got lots of characters from his other books, the Priest from Salem's Lot, Randall Flagg from the Stand is one of the main bad guys, it's so good
@@High-Overlord-Pugula My favorite series, also. They really screwed up the movie version, though.
Interesting enough: The Imp that is Randal in the 'Stand' is the same Imp in many other King novels. IT. Dark Tower. Ect. It is a force of evil beyond time, place, & realities that serve the C.K.
King is a creep
I first watched this movie in 1997 and have watched it at least 50 times since then, it is really great..acting, plot and all.
So what you are saying is that you have spent 300 hours of your life watching the same movie.
@@pappibum8072 Just like food. When you find what you like you know it's good.
The acting is atrocious lol. Some of the worst I've ever seen. It's still kinda watchable and feels almost purposely bad, like Twin Peaks.
Played this over and over for a year or more. My kids got tired of Kelly's Heros 24/7 for over 2 years non-stop
This was in most respects a really great movie! Thank you for the upload, and cheers from Outback Australia...
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you. I read the book, then seen the movie years later. I've been a Stephen King fan ever since. Great movie

this is incredible quality. thank you!! PS: I love that Joe bob cameo :)
Wow seeing this in a visible resolution is a treat after watching a 720 p version
720p isnt even that bad, most of the older films on YT are 480p and lower, its like watching a potato 🥔
One of Stephen King's finest.....thanks for the upload. 👍🤗
🫶😊
thank you so much.... it took 2 years for this to finally get recommended to me.!!!!!!!!!!
I remember reading the book, I couldn’t put it down. I love Stephen King.🤩
I was the same on both the first version and The Complete Stand release.
Truth be known, I couldn't put down any of his first 10 novels. Thank you, Mr. King
Yes, he writes some page turners for sure there have been some times I wouldn't even sleep.@@ReadyPlayerRon2000
His writing is great. Too much of a communist these days but great writing.
@@benrtomahawk A communist? Selling books is capitalism.🙄😑
I read the book in Jail. 2003, after this movie was made. I didn't see it but the book l got had a black and white pencil drawing each chapter and now after watching this version l can remember each chapter's depictions and the one that stuck with me the most was of "Trashcan Man" on his ATV 4 wheeler carrying the bomb..
Loved the book and enjoyed this movie just as much. Much appreciation to Stephen King and his incredible mind..
🎉❤🎉
The clarity and smoothness on this version is fucking brilliant. Makes it look 10 years younger! Thanks for this bro! Also this version is way better than the 2021 version people ❤
One of my favorite SK movies. Appreciate the work you put into it. Thank you for sharing
I can't believe how GOOD this old TV movie looks on YT! And i forgot King wrote the teleplay. That's a bonus.
He is also in it, delivering the devils gf at 3:18:00
He makes several appearances
It's been Remastered at least 2 or 3 times at this point.
This is the latest greatest ❤
@@JustinHappenstanceyup. Thats his schtic. A cameo in all his adaptations.
Like Maximum Overdrive he appeared as 'guy using the ATM' in the opening sequence.
I had to leave 3k movies in the US when moving to Europe from Appalachia. This is a series I watched a lot. TY for giving me a piece of home. 😊
DON'T FEAR THE REAPER. One of the greatest songs ever!
Bring out your dead
the monsters coming
Wow.......thought this was gonna be grainy, but this is a GREAT copy. Thank you so much.
Enjoy!
I just love anything by Stephen King and i'm watching this masterpiece September 2024.. Thankyou so very much for sharing this!😊

Great movie
Stephen King is tge best
Thankyou also for shareing this wonderful movie
I read this in 1919 (30 years old) and was fascinated by Stephen King’s writings horrors leading to moral messages. Saw the series before but this the first time all knotted together ready for the binge. It still impresses me at 75.
I was obsessed with this and any other post apocalyptic movie or book when I was a teenager. I owned this on VHS (remember those! lol), and watched it tons of times. Very well done
LOVE this adaptation . Saw it as a kid back then and happen to love it ever since!
It looks great in 4k here! Thanks
wow! ive never seen this movie in such great quality. thank you for uploading this! :D
I have an idea for RUclips movie watchers. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a schedule of old movies like this where at a certain time the movie began and the audience could actually do live chats with each other during the movie? Let us just call it movie night.
Yes, it's done already, a live upload. 😊 I think I saw it being played live and the comments section was open live. 😊
GENUIS!
It's called a watch party and they happen all the time. You can't do it on RUclips as it violates copyright. I'm sure you'll find them if you look though. Or set up your own
@@buddhamack1491there are loads of TV series that do this all the time here on YT. Good ones too.
I know for certain I’ve watched this in the last year. Such a great film, why not watch again lol
Still, the best book to screen movie by Stephen King. Thank you for the video! 💜
Thank you SO MUCH for posting. I ain’t paying Amazon $5 for their version that doesn’t even look as good as this one here 😉. You’re the best N v.3!
I second this praise of thanks!
Don't even bother to watch the Amazon version, it isn't a patch on this one.

Watching 1/23/25. Saw it when it originally premiered on TV. Loved it then. Loving it now!! ❤❤
25& 26th Jan 2025. Awesome, first time full witness to the whole show. Gr8 quality too
I watch it during times of trouble. Covid…the fires here (now & 2018) and if course trump’s
horrible agonizing installation in 2025. Sigh….
Stephan King reads Revelation once, says oh I have a book idea...
I would have focused on Rev 2.9 and 3.9. That's what's going on now anyway.
The concept of an apocalypse, predates that squirrelly set of "visions", many prior cultures have a story version, though King is quite biblical in this one

From all these years I just started watching in 2025. Great movie
This still stands as the best version ever. It's pretty relevant to our time too. Biblical significance.
You are correct about that
Maybe a few years ago
Every generation thinks it's going to be the last. People have been waiting for the end of the world for two thousand years. It still hasn't happened. Why don't we stop looking for signs of the apocalypse in old books of fairy tales and historical fiction and take care of ourselves and this planet.
