The battles were really dumb too for so many reasons but also really awesome, lol.
Awesome...but dumb, if you know that the United States navy arms their 40,6 cm guns with APCBC Mark 8 shells. While the movie depicts them loaded with sausages.
Well, in one scene it's actually shown that water is impressed (literally) by the muzzle blast, but all other scenes where the 16 inch guns are fired are...surreal.
And that's not the "surreal" which you might consider an art form.
Ofcourse cuz it's CGI😀

This was an underrated fun movie to watch. Much better than I thought it would be. I also missed the fact that the enemy rounds are peg shapes from the orginal board game! hah nice touch.
Yeah, the beginning of that movie seemed really stupid but when they got to the battle tactics it actually became a pretty good movie.
i suggest "epic" on Battleship ..... legendary for Star Wars and so!
It is dumb fun movie that is well made. Like Soldier from Kurt Russel. I like such movies.

Kinda surprised that this was not directed or had any connection with Michael Bay! The style and overall aesthetic of the film really reminds me of his films.
Even the music composer is the same than the Transformers movies.
And some of sound effects.
1:13 I like how they had to significantly change the fire rate of the CIWS so people could actually understand that it's shooting at the incoming shredders lmao

Can you believe I started watching this movie without knowing nor realizing that it's supposed to be an adaptation of the board game?
It only dawned on me during the scene where they are bombing the grid.
Whatever people think of the movie, that was actually an amazing experience, that sudden realization, and one that I'm sure only extremely few people in the world did experience with this movie.

It’s nice to see Navy get some recognition since 95% of them are never in danger unlike Army or Marines. So ya know, good for them for making them feel good. 👍

It's compensated by the fact that they have to get within melee range to fire guns that have an effective range of 20+ miles against a target this big.

Love the fact that these aliens managed to travel to another planet but are sensitive to sun light, dont have windows that can resist 50 cal bullets or higher and didnt put a shield on their spaceships to prevent easy destruction from heavy explosives

as underrated as this movie is, and I'll give credit where it's due, the how they handled everything in the movie was dumb, the premise is good and the action scenes are phenominal imo. I like this movie for what it is, and I do want a second one, it sucks that we never got it tho

After the boy's brother died, he handled the war himself.Because his girlfriend tells him, first he runs into a supermarket and tries to get something, then he gets caught by the police and rescues his brother, then his brother tells him to join the army to work responsibly. I have to say. The *idea* of "the board game Battleship as a movie but make one side literal aliens" is extremely absurd, and admittedly at some points the movie is extremely campy - but for all that, they ACED the battle scenes, especially the ones at sea.

Film has lots of pointless filler. Would have liked to see a large fleet battle between the Pacific Joint fleet and an equal if not larger alien fleet. Battleship U.S.S. Missouri will always be cool though.
with the ability to lock targets. the missiles we got are far longer range. we rule in ground forces and will probably develop better tech from the tech that’s alien to us. as a result they create another enemy that they can’t win simply because we adapt too fast and we don’t actually need shaded lenses to see.

ok, this part was so goofy. The kind of energy density to make something like that possible would be world-ending if it had a melt-down. The fact that it blew up like a few hundred barrels of gasoline was kinda funny. Was expecting a multi megaton nuke going off and vaporizing everything in a 10 mile radius, or at least a singularity implosion that created a tsunami or something. Would have made for a better movie too, knowing that they can't just blow this thing up, it can literally kill everyone if it is blown up.
