I think the comparison to Richmond is honestly a really good one. If you look at the tiges list they still have some good premiership players on it like Vlaus, Nank ect but they quite clearly have not been able to handle the losses of Edward’s, Lambert, Cotch, Riewoldt, Dusty and more. Pies have similar older players that are right at the end.

That's 1500+ games experience at once. So you just ought to win the flag eh
That's not what Fly meant. Not to neglect the draft, but to get senior players in that can help us improve now, as opposed to 3 years away when these kids mature with 50+ games under their belt. When we do need a rebuild, Fly will be the guy, as he was an excellent developmental coach.

I think the comp is so even that the addition of a Houston isn't the be all and end all. We will be in contention either way imo half the battle is luck. We need to keep an eye on our future we need to maximise Daicos while we have him and he needs a midfield built around him. If that means using pick 13 to draft rather than trade perhaps thats the better of the two outcomes.

Draft picks aren't the be all and end all. You could find the next diamond in the rough Naicos type later in the draft, or they could turn out to be the ultimate potato. Clubs just need to decide which risk they're prepared to take, based on what they've seen go on within the four walls of the club that most of us plebs have no idea about.
