Really enjoyed watching this review of the Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers and also the comparisons, they seem like something I might want to try out sometime. I really loved the angel and the pineapple, the colors are really stunning!
Thank you for the review! I almost bought them and then held back bc I have the entire set of Tombow dual brush markers, but I wish I would've gotten them now bc both of the Michael's nearby are sold out (and one store looked like a tornado hit the Jane Davenport end cap and there was so much merchandise empty!). It's great it's a popular item but I wish I would've grabbed the neutral palette and these markers! I did a review on the brights palette and fell in love with the colors. I really feel like there is something special about this line of products and that a lot of care went into the quality control. As always, I appreciate your reviews for how thorough and detailed you are! ❤🎨❤
I just love watching you paint. I know you've done a hundred painting things. But, I just love watching watercolors. You are a fantastic artist too. Thank you.
I always love your work, but something about this angel just totally captivated me! I really, really love it! I am in the process of watching the weeping angel, and I like it, too, but this one is my favorite. I can't tell you how much you inspire me to try something I didn't think I was capable of. Thanks so much, Lindsay!!!
Really like how the flowers turned out but that pineapple! OMG!! Loved it!! Every time you demo a product I can never figure out if it's the product that makes me want to rush right out and buy it or because you're just one of those people who could make an etch-a-sketch drawing look like a masterpiece. :)
Lindsay, I can't thank you enough for taking time out of your life to educate people you don't even know!!!! And then you apologize for the video being long - you're too funny! You saved me money and helped me make a decision. I didn't know what to buy before seeing your video. Thank you SOOOOOO much!!!! (I already own all 3 prima w/c sets AND a 60 color set of Zigs, etc, etc) YOU REALLY DO ROCK!!!!
Thank you for the review. Your tip for having water nearby and or a place to squirt them out was very helpful. The color is very bright and I wasn't sure if I was suppose to add water. Your video was fact filled and fun.
Holy geez, Lindsay! You flipped the book to that angel, and I actually gasped. Lol You have renewed my excitement for this product. Your pieces are STUNNING.
Wow, thank you so much for sharing all of your knowledge with us. I am a newbie to Jane Davenport and LOVE her goodies. I just purchased these Mermaid Markers, and it was so fun to see how you used them. You are talented. Thanks for sharing the time and sharing with all of us. Much appreciated!
I love how you make drawing look so easy. Plus you take simple lines and shapes and make them absolutely beautiful. Thanks so much for your inspiration.
You are amazing, talented and so generous in sharing your product knowledge and techniques. Thank you! I have been watching your videos and think you're the best because you empower creativity and self appreciation.
I simply love all of your videos! You have inspired me to try my hand at watercolor painting and I am having so much fun! I too, would love to see a step by step on the angel and that pineapple looks like fun. Thank you!
Lindsay thankyou for the review on the brush markers. I love how you show and test products for us, keep on painting! I live in Sydney, the postage from America is quite expensive but sometimes items from America are available at the craft shows for a reasonable price, we just have to wait for them to arrive. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for reviewing these. I have been trying to decide between the Zig Clean Color and the Jane Davenports. This video helped me decide based on how they worked. Really appreciate you taking the time to make your videos.
I love love love the angel!! And wow! That Pineapple!! Your works are just amazing and I definitely count you among my favourite watercolour artists. You're so inspiring! I also wanted to share the fact that I got my hands on the Jane Davenport watercolour sets in the brights and neutrals and I can't wait to use them!! I also got Jane's book called "Drawing and Painting Beautiful Faces" it looks really interesting. I am so attracted to the colours. Thank you for sharing!!
Hi Lindsay, love what you do, love your sketches. Mine is a big YES for the tutorials. That angel ... just awesome! Thank you so much for the review and demo 😊
Oh gosh Lindsay!! First off that image of the pie is simply gorgeous..I wish I could do art like that..anywho..thanks so much for the videos featuring JD stuff..I purchased a lot of her stuff but then I felt overwhelmed because I have no idea how to really use the stuff lol Thanks for sharing! xoxo Glo
I adore your sense of abandon when you paint. I haven’t been able to ‘let go’ like that at all although I’m hoping I’ll loosen up once I’ve been painting a little longer.
I love this; thank you so much! I bought these, all unsure of why and what I'd do with them, and now I can't wait to play. Such a riot of color and I could def. tell you were having fun!
Just also splurged and got the mermaid markers the other day and would LOVE for you to do a tutorial on both the angel and the pineapple. Since I saw them and thought they were so beautiful!!
+The Spin Doctor thanks! U was going to recreate the angel in watercolor tomorrow but I might find another one since people want to see it done with the pens
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich I just went and played with my ZIG Real Brush Markers and loved it but I need to paint a few stamped images with them to get used to using them really.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich oh I would love the angel for the live stream tomorrow. I am off work and will be able to catch it :) why don't you just do the stream with these pens an make the theme for questions about watercolor pens and the like :)
FunctionofLight One I knew Mrs W's stamping videos for several years but I hadn't watched much watercolour as I mostly painted acrylic until about a year ago when I stopped using acrylic just out of time issue so I began doing more watercolour and I saw the thumbnail of that video and was gobsmacked by it. Try as I might, I can't reproduce it.
Great review Lindsay! You are very honest and thourough in your reviews. It's not all "hoopla" (haha! love the expression!) and wauwie like some other reviews i've seen. Thank you for that! By the way i am also for the wheeping angel tutorial. Love it! greetings, Wanda
I would love to see a tutorial on the Angel! The colors on that are so pretty! I also love your detailed review! :) A little black straw looking bit came loose in one of my markers as well. So far that marker is working normally though.
I know what you meant about the Zig pens.......I have a very light more precise, controlled type, touch style with my painting where as my daughter is very "heavy handed" and loose with her strokes so she doesn't have as much control with them. You're right though. I think it just depends on your style of painting......I can't wait to get my hands on these Mermaid Pens as well as the neutral watercolors of hers......these look so fun!! Thank so much for sharing the fun with us..........
Whoa! These are so much fun! The colors are beautiful! Thanks so much for the reviews...I've been debating about this line! :) Oh! Weeping Angel please!!!! Lol!!!
Thanks Lindsay - the pineapple is amazing! I was staring at it wondering how it would look with some Gold Finetec on the leaves and splattered about -- I might have to give it a try~!
I would love to see a demo on the angel or pineapple. I want to learn the technique you used with your colors in those. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I liked how you used bright colors to paint a neutral object if that makes sense! Thanks for another great video. :)
I just bought 3 sets of them! I waited a year, while buying other supplies I needed, but these are in my permanent arsenal. I am not concerned with lightfastness. I love the loose brush effects and how versatile they are. They are not watercolors though, so I also got the brights. You can always mix neutrals.
I was sad when I thought these might be yet another art product only available in the US, but I called the Michaels closest to me here in Canada and they do actually have the Jane Davenport line! The Mermaid Markers are $45 CDN and reasonable in comparison to the US price, esp. with a 50% off coupon lol, but unfortunately they're currently sold out. But I can't wait to get my hands on them when they're back in stock. What excites me the most is that they're refillable and I just ordered a set of liquid watercolours that I can use once they're empty.
Oh my gosh, your stuff is amazing. I wish I could do that so well. I like how those are just in a multimedia spiral book but if I could do that, I'd be framing those!
Would love to see the angel and pineapple tutorial. This was a great review. So, can you refill the mermaid markers if they are designed like the water brush? I really like the colors in the mermaid set. Thanks for the great flower watercolor. Always fun to watch you create something; you make it look so very easy.
Lindsay, great tutorial and product review! Makes me want to run out and buy the JD markers at my Michael's, ha, ha!! BTW, I would love to see the pineapple, please!
All the demos are great, but that angel is really cool. I picked up a pack of watercolor brush markers at a yard sale last summer and have yet to use them! lol
Great review Lindsay and love your Drawing pictures the Angel is so Gorgeous it's so Fun seen you play with these Pens, i just wan't to b and your Honnest review!uy them all lol! Thank You for sharing
Great video Lindsay! 😆 I am definitely happy that I got these for $16. 😉 I think I will swatch them out tonight. I have another set of waterbrush markers (similar) that I got a long time ago that claim to be lightfast. I can't think of the name right now...I believe it's German. I need to swatch those too and see how they compare. If I remember right, those also say you can refill them. They also are a set of either 9 or 11 colors with an extra clear waterbrush for blending.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Your right! 😆 I bought them over 6 years ago, but cannot remember when...sheesh. 😲 I'm pretty sure I got them from Michael's. I do know they still worked because our teen girls used then back in December 2015...lol. I better check them all though. I wonder why speedball called them bienfang?
I have the bienfang brushes and I only managed to make them work on a watercolor pad that has a slippery feel to them- like the canson 300gsm watercolor pad. Other than that, they were near impossible to blend together :(
I love the expressionful look. Your painting of the flowers is the kind of style I am crazy about! : ) I couldn't help myself and just bought the markers from Michaels online with a 40% off coupon. Thanks for a wonderful review.
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich she has new ones? Oh no! I tried using them as you made it look so easy ...and well.. let's say I need more practice...😃
Love this review...I have not invested in brush markers but I think these are it! TFS Oh and BTW.....it doesn't seem to matter what product you use, you make the nicest art! hugs
thanks, they are really nice, So nice that I am thinking of getting another set when these are empty and putting other colors in the empty set for a bigger variety of colors (even though I can mix color with these they are so fun!) Take care:)
When you do finally refill your zig clean markers, could you please post a video of it. I like that idea. I am no where near having to try and refill mine. But I love the frugality of trying to refill them.
Thank you for doing this Lindsay, I know I've been bugging you since your u but ugh them for this video. I haven't opened mine yet, but I need to give them a play. I am not good at "loose" art and had planned on using them for faces, hair, etc. in conjunction with other media (watercolor, colored pencil, etc) but maybe I need to try to just let go and give it a try! I got everything in her line that I could find and wanted for 60% off so I did really well and think I will keep what I purchased. I did buy the colored pencils since they were about $10 with the coupon (I have lots of colored pencils as well). Would you please do a tutorial with these on a face/girl and I would LOVE to see the weeping Angel as well. Thanks for always keeping real, I trust your reviews and demos so much and admire your talent!
Okay next time I need to read what I type before hitting post . . Lol! Darn autocorrect 😂😂. I was trying to say I had been bugging you to do this since you bought them!
I'd luv to see the statue/angel tute - live or filmed! That's incredible & to me seems out of your usual themes - which I'm thrilled to see - not much in the way of water color sur-realism on you Tube :( Thanks for considering.TY!!
Ohhh these were in stock this am! I waited and now gone. :(. I love what you have done here. I have to have some!! I sure hope they come back in stock soon 😉
I've been calling my Michaels for 3 days now coz they've been out of stock and they finally got some in today, so I had them put a set on hold while I rushed down there lol. Good thing I did coz there were only 2 left on the shelf, 3 total if you count the one I put on hold.

Love your art! The angel and pineapple are amazing! Then, watching you paint the hollyhocks was just as inspiring. Thank you for reviewing these.
Omg I loved the angel. That blew my mind. I would really love to see how you painted it.
You are amazing, talented and so generous in sharing your product knowledge and techniques. Thank you! I have been watching your videos and think you're the best because you empower creativity and self appreciation.

Seriously love this bright, splashy pic! Think those mermaid markers will be my next art splurge before much longer.
I love love love the angel!! And wow! That Pineapple!! Your works are just amazing and I definitely count you among my favourite watercolour artists. You're so inspiring! Very nice review as they all are....beautiful examples of what the brush pens can do. Your art samples are so good! Loved how they all turned out :-)
Wow Lindsay-the art you created with these is amazing!!❤❤❤
Just got my JD mermaid markers and love them ! Your video was great!!!
thanks!
I adore your sense of abandon when you paint. I haven’t been able to ‘let go’ like that at all although I’m hoping I’ll loosen up once I’ve been painting a little longer.
Just ordered the JD Mermaid markers and your video was most helpful on "how to use "... thx for sharing, cant wait for the markers to come 🎨
I really like the demo pictures and would love to see you paint them! Thank you!
I love this; thank you so much! I bought these, all unsure of why and what I'd do with them, and now I can't wait to play. Such a riot of color and I could def. tell you were having fun!

Great review, thanks Lindsay. Now I can buy with confidence. I would love to see how you painted that pineapple!
Just also splurged and got the mermaid markers the other day and would LOVE for you to do a tutorial on both the angel and the pineapple. Since I saw them and thought they were so beautiful!!
I would love to see a tutorial on your statue! That is gorgeous! Thanks for this review, too!
The colours of the angel remind me of that wonderful yellow pink and blue piazza live show you did. Still one of my favourite works of yours.
+The Spin Doctor thanks! U was going to recreate the angel in watercolor tomorrow but I might find another one since people want to see it done with the pens

I had the same response! And just as you say, the piazza is one of my favorites of Lindsay's creations and that's from many favorites. (smile)

Lindsay you are so incredibly talented!

+Valarie Connell /DrawingWithFire I think they are the Bienfang, the opaque pens I showed that were not paintastics
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Your right! 😆 I bought them over 6 years ago, but cannot remember when...sheesh. 😲 I'm pretty sure I got them from Michael's. I do know they still worked because our teen girls used then back in December 2015...lol. I better check them all though. I wonder why speedball called them bienfang?

hi can u do a video on the angel statue.. thank you..
I really like these markers. Could a painting with these materials still be marketed as "watercolor?"
Very nice, would like to see tutorials on the statue, pineapple etc. thanks
I would love tutorial on the Angel
like the demo pictures and would love to see them as tutorials, thanks Linday
Really pretty examples, I would love to see you do the weeping angel statue!
I love the expressionful look. Your painting of the flowers is the kind of style I am crazy about! : ) I couldn't help myself and just bought the markers from Michaels online with a 40% off coupon. Thanks for a wonderful review.

Thanks for reviewing these, Lindsay. I was curious about them and now I'm probably going to have to add them to my collection. :)
thanks, they are really nice, So nice that I am thinking of getting another set when these are empty and putting other colors in the empty set for a bigger variety of colors (even though I can mix color with these they are so fun!) Take care:)
I liked your idea of refilling them with Dylusions ink, too. Have a nice vacation!
When you do finally refill your zig clean markers, could you please post a video of it. I like that idea. I am no where near having to try and refill mine. But I love the frugality of trying to refill them.
will do!
The statue wis amazing! I would love a tutorial of that!
do you think they could be refilled with Dr.Ph Martin's inks or watercolors? mixed with water?
love the colors. love the painting.
