  • In this video I discuss one of the biggest problems with the average safe and show you how you can fix it! I have a feeling you will start to see more safes come with these entry pads on them in 2022.

    I'm so glad I found your video. I couldn't believe the keypad mounting was really supposed to work that way. I'm going to return it. Not acceptable.

      I love the lock itself don’t get me wrong, but that is my biggest complaint as well. There is no reason they cant use the same style twist mounting bracket every other lock uses.

    Great video. I was going to install on on my safe but after finding out the key backup is deleted I chose not to. If the keypad ever fails you are screwed. And I don't want to cut a safe open with $20k worth of guns inside if it ever fails. You have to remember, It is an electronic part.

      Not necessarily you can detach the pinpad and reprogram a new one, for the off chance it ever does fail.

    Great video! Just FYI since you bought the Scanlogic lock/keypad from Securam you probably have the factory recovery code set. Do research online and change it. After this you will be the only one that can recover/reset the lock (factory reset). Also like somebody mentioned you can turn the beeping on/off.

    A big gun safe like this size is my next purchase so I can properly store my couple of toys/defense and such sensitive docs.

      I got my 24 gun safe from academy, redfield brand. I put some amazon motion lights and dehumidifier oh man I love it. I got it discounted for 680 no tax in TX and I did curbside pick up they brought it out to my truck.

    Edit: (disregard as the lock change sort of mitigated it.) Heads up there is a security flaw that your safe is still vulnerable to where you can remove the key pad, and since the ribbon cable gap is so large (as i can see yours is), a coat hanger bent in the proper way can be inserted into the safe and hit the button that opens the safe. ruclips.net/video/FyObFaxn8v8/видео.html. he also has a follow up video where they fixed it with a different style of bracket but you get the idea and you can mitigate it yourself. or contact winchester.

      Yeah removing they key backup lock was a huge plus, now that there is no plunger to open it you can't open the safe with a coat hanger, or lock pick tool now. I also put in another plate behind that hole later so nothing can be inserted either. Glad to see this lock fixed a security flaw.

    Awesome video what light are you using inside or does it come with that one thanks in advance

      No lights came with it, I'm running a few 160 LED Motion Sensor Rechargeable lights I got on ebay. I'm very happy with the light output, motion and battery life. They charge via a USB cable so I don't have to run wires in and out of the safe and if the power goes out I can still see inside.

      @@Bsaint Thank you for the video, I also ordered the lights too. Did you just have 1 light strip or two?

    Nice video. If you are interested in eliminating the beeps when you open the lock, you can turn off the beeps - check your operation manual. Nice stealth feature.

    I'm looking to this also. But I wanted to ask why didn't you drill new holes and and mount the lock backwards and keep the keyed backup?

    • @Bsaint
      @Bsaint  2 года назад +2

      Because the new lock did not have a pin to utilize the key back up.
