Daredevil is underrated to a criminal extent... My introduction to Daredevil was actually the silver age - I'm not even remotely close to old enough to have read them when they were first published, I read reprints from my Dads old black and white Marvel UK magazines. The first Daredevil I read was Daredevil #5, where he's in the yellow costume and fights the Masked Matador (that villain didn't take off). I absolutely loved it, and I was probably 7 or so. The first thing I did when I had a shred of income was save up for a copy of Daredevil 1 - I'd save that in a fire over the dog. Eventually I'll have a complete run. Eventually...
I like how you add in the art work of each comic book while you're talking about it. But not just by moving the camera over the page, you actually have the images of the art work edited into the video so we get a better look.
The five best runs on DareDevil I'm need to read are Frank Miller's run, Chip Zdarsky's run, Brian Michael Bendis's run, Mark Waid's run, and Brubacher's run on DareDevil because I'm collecting the comics through the Epic Collection line.
I really enjoyed the character in the ultimate comics, DD & elektra books & the elektra books were all really good I also really enjoyed him in the team ups and in Xmen, kinda wish they expanded and gave him his own ultimate run more then just the Few that we got
I am in the middle of season 3 of Daredevil and it is my favorite marvel thing ever so I I probably reading like all of these reccomendations. I am usually a DC guy but Daredevil is one of the best characters ever
Good video, I recently got into Daredevil by reading Zdarky’s run which is KILLER, so I’ve gone back and got the Miller omnibuses which are also fantastic. Looking forward to reading the Bendis run as soon as I get those omnis as well! Woofwoof
I’ve never read any daredevil. But after you’re recommendation and reading the Chip Zdarsky run of Spider-Man ill have to read his run on daredevil. Great video man
Just thanks!! In the last 2 months I’ve collected a lot of Batman and daredevil(man without fear&born again, all of chip zdarsky so far) based on your vids! Your approach and different ways of allowing new readers to ease into to new comics is exceptional. Next buys are ultimate Spider-Man/miles morales, Dan slott Spider-Man, 616 miles, dini and Morrison Batman omnis. Salute!
Hey Marcus, I love these Where to start videos, they are so helpful! I just really wish that there was one for the venom series. Yeah, I know I could just watch another guys video about it, but you make it way simpler
Thank you for the support mate, Venom is definitely on the list, got a Captain America one already filmed so that will probably be next, but it's coming up for sure! :)
Thank you mate, hopefully it will help more people become fans of the character :) but Miller DD is starting at the best man haha, not sure how anything else compared! Thanks for watching the video mate! WOOF WOOF! 🐶
Just picked up the Marvel Knights and Bendis Omni 1 & 2. I've only read Yellow, Guardian Devil and a few volumes of Waids run before. I'm now on the hunt after the Brubaker omnis ^^
My first Introduction to Daredevil was the Ben Affleck movie lmaooo. I loved that movie as a kid and it is the reason Daredevil is my favorite character.
This was a good overview. Cool hearing you bring up Spider-Man Animated Series from the 90s. I started Daredevil on Bendis with the Ultimate collections, missed out on omnis but need to grab as well as Brubaker run. The Daredevil Yellow arc is good too
I was worried for a while there that you wouldn't mention the Waid run! I know the different tone rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, but I absolutely loved that run. Granted, I don't have much other Daredevil reading under my belt, but it was a great starting point for a new reader. Really, really accessible. And just straight-up amazing comics. I have been stockpiling the other Daredevil omnis ready to get stuck into his history with a binge at some point. Annoyingly, I have the Brubaker omni vol. 2, but it's seriously difficult to find vol. 1 right now for a good price! I really hope that gets a reprint some time. It's going to be one of those things that puts me off getting started with my read through! And I really appreciate how you don't just stick to comics. I mean, you even throw in one of my favourite cartoons ever! Great work Dogg, I love these "where to start" videos. Some excellent choices on here.
It wasn’t just the tone my problem with waids daredevil is that it takes away what makes daredevil unique the fact that his actions have consequences and makes it a generic superhero book with no consequences everything just gets reset and Matt doesn’t have to deal with any real problems
My favorite Daredevil story is Guardian Devil by Kevin Smith and a close second is his first appearance by Stan Lee. While not my favorite, I too, enjoyed End of Days... well, what I read of it.
Let me know what type you want to see, I've only done this Where To Start on him so far, but he's one of my favourites! Thanks for watching! WOOF WOOF! 🐶
Thank for the video, Markus. For me, I have to have an art style I like, regardless of how good the story is. Looks like the Waid and Bendis omnis are the way to go for me.
Ultimate spiderman was my first introduction to DD too! Although I remember the DD related part being so bad that it turned me away from reading DD until I saw the netflix series.
Just found your channel. Very good choices although I'd just like to add one of my fave runs, the Denny O'Neil issues following the first Miller run. Probably not a good entry point though!
Well this was the perfect video for me, i think im gunna purchase some or all of these ! Ive downloaded a marvel comic app to try and help me understand the runs i need to buy, the only thing confusing me is the runs go 1-26 for example than a few other comics are listed in the same run but the number system suddenly jumps to 300 for example, whats that all about ?
Sometimes a series gets re-numbered, then goes back to the 'legacy' numbering for a milestone like 300 :) but hope you enjoy it Sam! Thanks for watching the video mate! WOOF WOOF! 🐶
I wish you would put the year the overall series of comics came out and not just the numbers for the arc… it’s so hard to find these specific issues on the unlimited app when all you give us is “daredevil” “bendis” and “#26”… do you know how many different daredevil series are named just “Daredevil”…? It’s so complicated.
Hey my man this is brother will coming from the Midwest in the US we've talked before homeboy you know I know you're down but hey last one that I saw I saw you talking about you got a really cool box set for your dad a kiss one well I'm a old school kids fan what can I say my brother kind of like your dad fill me in on this bro could you like always man you know I support it by hitting the like and trying to tell fellow enthusiasts love you my man!!!!😜
For sure my mate! We spoke on one of my first videos :) haha you'd probably like talking to my Dad, he loves Kiss! But the guitar case boxset came out in 2001, its real nice looking! Thanks for watching the videos mate, hope you enjoy the future ones too! WOOF WOOF! 🐶
Where can I find the collection of the loeb and sale color series? I want to read them all but the ink it would be better just to get it all collected on one
Hi, is it necessary to read the Joe Quesada omnibus before the Bendis omnibus? I have never read anything about Daredevil and I wanted to start with the Bendis run
Nice list, but Mark Waid it’s not a good thing on daredevil, made me stop reading the series, daredevil has this dark side that needs to be there, mark kind of made it a bit of spider man. The essential it’s not just there
A word of warning for people who want to get into Daredevil through his Ultimate comics interpretation. The guy is completely different from the Matt Murdock of 616. He is a massive asshole with inconsistent morals and a toxic temper which he takes out on everyone around him.
Honestly i didn't like gaurdian devil. The story was not enticing at all and It left me dissapointed. I love the Parts of a Whole arc that came after though.
Daredevil Born Again deserves a recommendation.
Chip Zdarsky's Daredevil is basically the comic version of the Netflix show but is better. Another good video woof woof
I didnt watch the Netflix series and only have some basic knowledge on Daredevil. Is it a good start for me?
Yes!
@@maisweis5636 Yes! Definitely.
@@ggt47 ty. I'll read it after catching up Amazing Spider Man.
@@maisweis5636 It is excellent. At least for except the last two issues. It tied in that black king event.

Probably the character that his been most consistently written well. Very good list, I would struggle to disagree with any.

Need to get the Frank Miller DD companion omni in the future. Born Again is my favorite storyline of all time!
Mine to mate.
Just read Born again.
Outstanding.
Agree!I prefer Miller than Zdarsky

Bendis was my first DD run, so I'm a bit biased, but Born Again is top tier! Thanks for watching! WOOF WOOF! 🐶

Thanks for this man, getting into Daredevil right now!!

@@MaddoggComics would love to see a video of you covering the Bendis run or the Waid run!

Definitely start with Daredevil Yellow
11:29 razorfist is gonna be pissed
Born Again is not only the best Daredevil story of all time, it might be the best story in all of comics.
This guy loves Daredevil as much as I love Spidey!
Ultimate spiderman was my first introduction to DD too! Although I remember the DD related part being so bad that it turned me away from reading DD until I saw the netflix series.
I am currently reading the first of Daredevil and I’m in total love as I’m disabled myself…^_____
An excellent video! DD is my no.1 guy!
I ran 🏃♂️ got whole random stack of DD comics I'm reading all kinds of different stories haha.
Great video by the way
Great video man!
Pretty much pick a Vol 1 of DD....go.
Incredibly concise and accessible character.
Just found your channel. Very good choices although I'd just like to add one of my fave runs, the Denny O'Neil issues following the first Miller run. Probably not a good entry point though!
love your content and your accent!
I like daredevil because He's like kind of batman but more dark
Love your list but dardevil on Netflix should have been more episodes and more seasons cause I love it
Just subscribed to the marvel unlimited app, and im so overwhelmed i dont know where to start 🤣
Thanks for the video
Woof woof!
Great video mate, thanks for the little overview!
💪🔥🐶
Great video! I gave up on the bendis omnibus...should I try again?
Great video, thank you!
Could you do a Star wars comics video? If you have read them though. Thinking about getting The Omnibus by Jason Aaron
End of days is soooooo good
Good list! :-)
I need that bendis omnibus vol 1 reprinted

Daredevil born again
Hey maddogg what's the best book I should read of daredevil after reading the bendis run
How does Daredevil hold up against Savage Sword of Conan from the 70s?
I wish you would put the year the overall series of comics came out and not just the numbers for the arc… it’s so hard to find these specific issues on the unlimited app when all you give us is “daredevil” “bendis” and “#26”… do you know how many different daredevil series are named just “Daredevil”…? It’s so complicated.
Guardian Devil certainly looks a lot like The Man Without Fear🤣
what do you think is the best DD story and artwork?
Is that Kevin Smith hardcover still in print? Art looks good on it
Do you happen to know if Frank Miller’s Daredevil Omni will get a reprint?
Being reprinted right now Jan /Feb 2023 don't miss out
@@JennySparkz yup! I saw on Near Mint! Thank you!

I grabbed the ultimate collection Vol. 1 for Frank Miller’s run - I’m going to star there, then I’ll probably branch out to Mark Waid’s run
🐺Always🐺WolfAimDaredevil🐺.
Wow💯
Hi, is it necessary to read the Joe Quesada omnibus before the Bendis omnibus? I have never read anything about Daredevil and I wanted to start with the Bendis run
Quesadilla
Could I start with daredevil without reading any other comics
Nice list, but Mark Waid it’s not a good thing on daredevil, made me stop reading the series, daredevil has this dark side that needs to be there, mark kind of made it a bit of spider man. The essential it’s not just there
