I recently just passed my MSF course with Harley (Palm Bay) in FL. After passing my test, watching this video has given me way more understanding as to everything that goes into riding and more. In the city riding portion, I noticed your hand never grabbed the front back, aside from the fast stop example. Are you primarily stopping with the rear brake all the time? I'm a beginner rider who will be purchasing his first sport bike. I had to learn on a Harley short boy, as the call it, so I know how it's going to feel going from a a Harley to a sport bike. Thank you in advance.
This is a good formula. But do it with the 765 and make it more premium. Adjustable suspension, cruise control, better dash (hopefully with an analog tac). Keep the ergos semi-relaxed like this 660.
What up Chase. A year later and you're still keepin me in the loop and nag for motorcycling! Thank you for constantly making quality content when we need it. You always deserve more appreciation. Ride safe! Much love
the rs 660 has more power , is much lighter, more electronics and better suspension and brakes i believe, also quite the big price difference (rs660 being 2-3k more).
I rode all three 660's back to back last month. I like the tiger comfort, the trident engine braking, and the top end of the daytona. I hopped on the tiger 900 next and it solved all the differences I had with the 660s. except for its about $5k more dollars.
This made me seriously consider getting this bike. I've done a couple of test rides and might actually get it next year. Guys, the engine is a gem. Docile around the lower RPM's, perfect for around town. No jerky movements when going on-off throttle but boy does it wake up in the midrange and asks for you to rev it.
I own one of these bikes and recently finished a 1000 mile 3 day trip. Got home with little to no pain to speak of. Aside from a right wrist cramp from the lack of cruise control the bike handled the entire trip perfectly and I'd have no problem taking it on a longer trip
Tried a Tiger 660 recently. Love the engine and feel of it. Ended up on a used Versys 1000 because i got a really good deal. May end up on a triumph in the future.
It's a road bike, not a track bike, some folks expecting an update of the old daytona... Its not. I would buy this if it were a naked! I own a trident 660 and love it, but if they upgrade the trident with this engine in the future, i would trade, otherwise i,ll keep blatting around on my trident. 👍Thanks for the video
I'm a fan of stiff suspensions, I wanna be able to have as intuitive an understanding of my bike's grip as possible. If I wanna be comfortable I'll hop back on my char with the soft seats and the AC xD
A few youtubers that were in the spain event said that the brakes were developed by J.Juan and then branded Triumph. It was said on their videos that they were told this on some sort of press conference before the ride. The time spam between the videos is short, probably they were in the same room when this was said. But I didn't see this in any other video and there's no confirmation anywhere.
OC 34:41 ❤ Q1) what do you think long distances with that vibration you mentioned? Q2) as the bike is less agile than a naked, does the bike fatigue you after a while? Q3) is this for a tall rider as the seat is so low? (6ft+)
Local dealer had their an open house for their 10th anniversary and the White 660 looks amazing in person. Even though I have a Speed Triple 765 RS I want to add that bike to my garage too.
Nice time to be a rider. Suzuki has the 8R and now Triumph has this. Comfortable bikes with super sport looks and affordable to boot. I dig naked's (I have an FZ1 and really want a 1st gen MT-10) but the fully faired look is my jam. I would like to see bigger displacements in this comfy supersport style though cause once you go liter, it's hard to go back.
I rode this bike twice! It’s really good. Regarding the steering I can feel it not so focus as a super sport but it’s marginal, it’s not something detrimental to the bike.
I was super hyped up about this bike, but the more I think about it the more it feels budget to me. Sure it's premium made and feeling, but no quickshifter as standard? For the price I kinda would like one. Better dash? Same story, it's not bad, but for the price... It's this lack of things that really detracts from this bike for me, it feels like it was made from parts laying around - all the budget probably went for the engine. Will still give it a ride, but for this price, I am probably not gonna get it and go with something else. Hell, the street tripple R, which is a MUCH better bike, is just a couple hundred more. Edit: and yes, white is the best color!
@@shalokshalom yes, I know it's A2 compatible, and no, it doesn't make it valuable, it's an afterthought. It simply feels cheap, like it was an afterthought to make it nice (like a premium brand like Triumph should be). And guess what, there now exists a version of ST765R which IS A2 compatible ;)
Did a test ride during my local dealer’s demo event. Bike sits way too high for a sportbike, even for a 660. Feels a lot more of a sport touring bike. Has decent low end torque but at that price it was cheaper and more cost effective to get the 2024 gsxr 600 which I ended up getting.
Nice vid. It's a good bike, looks pretty nice & has a decent engine for the class. However, I don't like the cockpit (not a deal breaker though) & the suspension & handling are a bit disappointing. I looked in to this & the GSX8R & bought the 8R in the end. The 660 looks better overall, including the bars, but they are less comfortable. I also think the Triumph has a better / more exciting engine, but the 8R's engine is still very good & the low down & midrange torque makes it more useable at legal speeds. It also has a QS as standard. Whereas the best part of the Triumph's engine is when you rev it out & then you're looking at jail time. Also while they aren't bad on the Daytona, the build quality, comfort, suspension & handling are all better on the 8R. Brakes are very good on both bikes. If Triumph upgraded the suspension & dash it would easily be the class leader imo.
Hope they sorted out the crappy throttle from the Trident. Had one, couldn’t sell it fast enough. Went back to the 10-year old class benchmark- FZ-07. It’s just about perfect- still.
I really want to see how @chaseontwowheels likes the Triumph Bonneville Bobber. Seems like its mad comfy but has plenty of torque to get you where you need to go.
Definitely agree the state of tune/power characteristics of the Daytona are a perfect fit for this style of bike. Yamaha's CP2 and Suzuki's 8 series motors not so much but have to wonder since I know you had the opportunity to ride the European Honda Hornet while tire testing how you feel that motor would compare to the Daytona's triple?
nice, ive been looking for a portable pump for a long time and never trusted any reviews so nice to see one from a trusted source. How much have you used it and how good does it work?
Hey Chase. I’ve got a 2024 BMW K1600B that I just purchased, and I’d be happy to lend it to you for a review if you’re interested. Not sure where you’re located, but I’m in Southern California. Let me know! Great review as always. Tommy
Love a Triumph, but to use the Daytona moniker and not improve on the previous… I’d consider myself a 675R fanboy, but this is not what I think when I the Daytona. They make such a quality bike, wish they’d have done what they could to keep that name sacred.
OC: Triumph really knows how to give us a great triple. That linear power band is my favourite kinda power delivery. You get the punch of a parallel twin with the high rev range of a in-line 4. Giving you smooth power delivery thru the revs. I just wish they brought back the 675R triple instead of using the Trident 660 triple. Honestly though the head unit is a lil dated, like you can see they made lil effort to change the front of the bike compared to the 675R and naturally they gave it a budget feeling dash to get it under 10k. I'd say pass because I owned a Daytona 675R and no matter what Triumph do with this new Daytona aside from putting the 675R triple in it and calling it the R spec Daytona I'll always choose the more aggressive riding position of the 675R and more sporty nature. But given the choice between the Daytona 660 and say a Aprilia RS660, I think I'd go RS660 even if it's msrp is higher. The RS660 is a better bike and Aprilia tend to sell below the msrp from what I've experienced.
A great review, can you tell me which camera you used to take the exterior photos when you drove the red Daytona. The recordings look really good! Thanks
Great review Chase! Reasonably tame corners, I would love to see this bike in the twisties. Based on your comments it might not be as good as the R7 and the R8. The power plant is changed from the other 660s, more RPM and power, triple throttle bodies etc. Finally, don't agree with you on the dash. It is a pile of rubbish, even the tame Ninja has a better dash, the R7 is fine for an LCD and the GSX is the best in class. Triumph needs to up its act. And a free quick shifter too! Watched to the end, always Chase.
Technically, mechanically, it must be a much better machine than my '72 TR6. But where's the style, the charm? Ah well, you do you and have fun. Keep the rubber on the road. 👍
Am I seeing things or at around 5:50 the bike goes from black to red as he is pulling out onto the street? Love your videos Chase and thank you for reviewing this bike it is one on my list of potential next bikes.
Glad you enjoyed it sir. I love mine. We didn't get the 660 Daytona for a full month but maybe we can convince Triumph to loan us one for a full month soon.
Looks to me this is a very direct competitor to the cbr650r, which doesn't look as great anymore, same price too I believe. These both are pricier than the r7 of gsx8r. Though to me in this class rs660 stomps.. But its price speaks for itself lmao.
I had the same dilemma, test rode both, and bought the Daytona. The Suzuki is more upright and has a quickshifter, but other than that, the Daytona is much smoother in every aspect.
Is the cardo worth it when I have a ruroc with the integrated sound an mic, we tend to group call as no headset has enough range as we tend to split up often but stay on call till whoever split of from us gets to where they're going or we all meet back up and stop
Please do make a Sport video. I have had 2 entry nakeds and I'm thinking about entering the mid sport tier for my next bike but still only ride city and some HWY. Curious what you think about those.
I have a few options of my first bike I’m pretty athletic so physical stuff I guess wouldn’t matter but I’m not a expert so I wouldn’t know my options are r7 and cbr650r and gxsr8r and the Daytona 660 what should I get I’m 6 foot 4 and 220 just in case if matters
Hey, dont know if you picked up a bike yet. What did you end up going with? Im 6'3 and im 6 months away from my full license so im starting to keep my eye out for my next bike.
@chaseontwowheels I'm not too familiar with that style of handle bar/clip on unit. Is it at all possible to raise or lower it on the front forks? Is it possible to adjust your riding position slightly by doing this?
Oc so if you could only buy one which would it bw the 8r or the dayton? I know u said u prefer the motor of the daytona in the vid. I rode the 8r on test ride while back and it was onw of best bikes i had ever ridden, so smooth and just really nice. Hard to imagine this being that good.
I feel like this bike is a generation behind. There's nothing bad about this bike per se for me, but for the cost there's also nothing that stands out either. The only selling point is that it's a 3-cyl sport bike.
After watching allot of RUclips reviews of this bike. I finally gave one a test ride the other day. because of the reviews I was expecting a let down. like a Trident that looks like a sport bike. so I was totally surprised by its power and handling. the bike is so much faster then the Trident. and the bike is really stable and planted feeling. I really loved everything about how it felt riding it. but when I stopped at lights I was looking at it and I started tapping on the gas tank and noticed that if felt like plastic. and the area around the dash looks plasticky. and then when I got back to the dealer I was asking the sales person how much the bike is selling. and the guy said it's not selling good. and then he said because it has to much plastic. and then he points out to me that what looks like the frame on the side of the bike is actual a piece of plastic.and I was kind of in shock because I didn't notice that. its actually got a tubular frame under the plastic piece. its the first bike I ever saw in my life with a fake frame. and I have to be honest. even though I loved almost everything about the bike. the plastic side cover that looks like a frame does mess with my head. also the brakes aren't near as good as the Brembo brakes on the 765 Rs. but other than that its a really good bike that I could be totally happy riding.
I fucking love mine haha put it in sport mode and it wheelies first gear all day longgg you can pop em up in 2nd too and it accerlates super super good too
OC I love this bike! But I am way too big for this bike. I’m 6 foot six, 285 pounds and have a 37 inch inseam. I do not see myself being at all comfortable on that thing lol
As a former Daytona 675R owner I just wish they had called it something else. The Daytona was always a pure sports bike to me, and though for its class it may be a great bike.. I don’t think it’s worthy of the name.
@chaseontwowheels thanks man! I'm looking to move on from 07 SV650S but I don't want something too aggressive. Deciding between CBR650R and Daytona 660

You know a manual pressure gauge is faster
Triumph should make 765 version as well. People have been wanting it for a long time.

You mean the Daytona 765? They already have made it. It's a limited edition release though.
I like that feature that it changes color from red to gray.

They have successfully made "the peoples" daytona. Triumph can NOW make a 765 moto2 edition with terrible ergonomics for the hardcore guys. 😎😎
Keep it up my friend! OC!!
They need to make these bikes that straddle the line between naked and supersport actually fast.
You should make an Aprilia RS 660 vs Daytona 660 video for those who want something a little *special* and premium
OC alright chase if you could only have one Daytona 660 or Tuono 660?
@chaseontwowheels
I'm not too familiar with that style of handle bar/clip on unit.
Do both headlights come on with high beams? I see only on daytime driving
Yes they both come on with high beams. There is just one daytime running light sadly
How would this compare to the GSX8R or a Tuono 660 Factory?
Next i'll be waiting for Aprilia RS 457 eargerly..
Is this riding position more or less aggressive than a thruxton?
Trident 765 by Triumph would be awesome
I fucking love mine haha put it in sport mode and it wheelies first gear all day longgg you can pop em up in 2nd too and it accerlates super super good too
OC I love this bike! But I am way too big for this bike. I’m 6 foot six, 285 pounds and have a 37 inch inseam. I do not see myself being at all comfortable on that thing lol
I'm 6'5, 36" inseam, and 190lbs. It wasn't terrible sitting (didn't ride) on the Daytona. It's still more cramped than I'd want.
My nearly 5yr old KTM has a better display setup. Love what they tried to do tho
As a former Daytona 675R owner I just wish they had called it something else. The Daytona was always a pure sports bike to me, and though for its class it may be a great bike.. I don’t think it’s worthy of the name.
Hey Chase, how would you compare the body position to the SV650S you used to own?
Similar but slightly more aggressive on the 660 if I remember correctly
@chaseontwowheels thanks man! I'm looking to move on from 07 SV650S but I don't want something too aggressive. Deciding between CBR650R and Daytona 660
OC !!! lovely bike
Blue Steel Quixote is the opening song. OC
