I so wish I could go to this with my dad. I plan to take my Marine and Army sons and college girl daughter...he would be so proud of each and every one of you!😇
As an old Marine, I always love a parade. The finest military units in the world know how to do the pomp and circumstance. If we are this good at marching, you can bet we are this good at everything else. "No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy!" Semper Fi
I have the honor of seeing all three parades, The Sunset Parade, The Twilight Parade, and the PRade T the Iwo Jima Monument. The Commandants House, The Lincoln Memorial, and The Iwo Jima Monument. I am a Vietnam Nam Vet. She per Fi!
I got the opportunity to see this event when the Commandant of the Marine Corps was in attendance. Truly a spectacular sight to see the "Commandant's Own" Marine Corps Drum & Bugle Corps perform.
rory mac one need only say Marine to know you are one of the elite. The RM have a different mission but regardless of mission to be a Marine is to be the best.
@ Rory Mac - My son served with the US Marines in Afghanistan and Iraq as a grunt but he always had high regard for the Royal Marines. As far as he was concerned Royal Marines were TRUE MARINES! As a Marine dad allow me to express thanks to you for your service and in behalf of my son SEMPER FI!!
I would love to hear some hard hitting snare drums instead of those clicks! Also some loud bass drums and Souzas on the down beats. It sounds like a dance orchestra that was told to keep it down because "they're cutting the cake now." LET'S GO BAND!!BALLS TO THE WALL!!! DRUMMERS UP FRONT!!!WE'RE MARINES!!! OOOOOH!!!!! RAHHHHH!!!! BALLS TO THE WALL
As a veteran, IMHO, I really feel that most of today's American youngsters would gain a great deal of pride, satisfaction, appreciation and skills in having to serve at least a couple of years in most of our military forces. We Americans are really very fat, soft, lazy, undisciplined and dedicated to much more than our own pleasures! A strong nation needs STRONG MORALE and willingness to sacrifice! Currently, I don't much of that these days!
Eternal life and love to entire U. S. Military Forces. All are God's children. Sun shines in you wherever you go. You and your families. Sorry, some friends need growth.
+Samuel Scarisbrick as a non American who's been watching drumline and marching band in general for 3 years non stop, the marines I've found in and out of the U.S
It's the trio to the National Emblem March, followed by the Colonel Bogey March (British), and the song Over the Sea let's go Men aka The Marine's Song. The drum & bugle group does a good job but the actual band sounds much better because of the wider instrumentation and the fact that all three selections were written for a full band. Hope this info helps.
"National Emblem", also known as the "National Emblem March", is an American march composed in 1902 and published in 1906 by Edwin Eugene Bagley. The U.S. military uses the "trio section" as ceremonial music for the color guard when presenting and retiring the colors.
As a NAVY Vet i get chocked up every time I see my brothers in arms performing their patriotic duty. At the same time I am truly sorrowful for the state of affairs of our current political climate and the liberals attempts to destroy our country.
There will be women in those ranks at some point since they have joined the infantry. The non-band Marines in the video are 0311s whose primary mission is the defense of Washington, DC.
Every Marine has a minimum of 2 MOS's, with the primary MOS of 0311. 0311 is Infantry Rifleman, that's why every Marine must pass the rifle range with a certain score to earn the title Marine..... no matter what. So your statement about the non band Marines is true and false. Every Marines primary mission by oath is to, "protect this nation and it's citizens from any threats foreign or domestic." Oh, the band Marines are also 0311's. Review my 0311 sentence above. Not trying to be a prick, this Marine saw an error and had to fix it... It's all good!! Thanks for the support though.
There are two kinds of Americans - there are Americans who were _born_ in the United States and then there are Americans who've never set foot in the joint but love it anyway.
Immaculate drill, impressive Ceremony but why oh why do you Americans perform these Parades on grass, the highlight of any Parade is the sound of a thousand Boots hitting the ground in perfect Unison.
Yes - but they march funny. I was in the South African Defence Force and we never marched like that. We sort of threw our legs out further and straighter...
70-76, Nam, Cambo one day only. I only think about the Crotch 20 or so times a day. Thats why they still pay me huh? I was the last boot battalion where "hands could be laid on you." Semper Fi all you f-rs that made it as far as me. Every day is...gravy bebe
For those commentators that belittle the the U.S. Marine's marching skills, be advised that they are required to move from point to point with precision and limited effort, not with that stupid Nazi style - knees in the air and arms with fists outstretched.
Never got to see this parade but wish I had. Very hot out there in those formal uniforms; hard to March in grass; the Corps has finally gotten rid of those ridiculous formal white ‘covers’ worn then by women Marines.
Why do they March like robots? Also the USA seems to hand out medals for just turning up for something. In the U.K. medals are only given for Bravery, for Fighting in a particular Battle or War, or outstanding service to the U.K. Regarding marching, watch the Trouping of the Colours. For Marching at Speed you need to watch the Rifles, who March at 140 paces to the minute and double at 180. Also I have never seen a Band Drum-major walk backwards.

What is the first verbal command given (where the command staff changes formation)?
Too much editing. You chop out pieces of the music. Darn shame. But beautiful Marines

What's with playing "Colonel Bogey"?
What uniform is this? type a, type b, or type c?
Blue dress A. B is with ribbons. C is long sleeve shirt and D is short sleeve shirt.
Should've kept the british drill manual and marches..
Professional army . Appreciable.
They beat the hell out of japanese imperial fleet ! Respect ! By the way I love America unconditionally. Believe it or not I am a friend

Not about to pave over that grass-it is sacred ground to US Marines.
To hear the boots hitting the ground, go to the Friday night parade at the barracks.
The command was: "Mark time, March"
There's something about a Marine in his dress blues
