The smiles and contentment seen in the older photos bely the fact that guys of that era had a LOT to endure. I’m so happy that today’s youth have less of a burden but at the same time a lot of them can’t grasp the traumas that their predecessors endured. When that trauma has caused long-term effects, describing it doesn’t even begin to do it justice without a lengthy explanation of the prevailing attitudes of the time
Agreed. To quote a popular sad song from the 80s by Mike + The Mechanics, "Every generation, blames the one before." But every generation also struggles to walk a mile in the former generation's shoes. And the smiles, for me, warm my heart even more because I understand, at least in part, what these guys went through. And STILL so many of them found at least frozen moments of happiness. A lesson to us all, in my opinion. Thanks for sharing!
so true. but i think we in the "west" forget just how far others have yet to go compared to what we might now take for granted. plus, just because there are many more open doors for a lot of middle-class folks and those in the entertainment industry, for working class people and in the places that aren't cities there's still a long way to go before acceptance or even tolerance makes it safe to come out.
G'morning Clint, so many images to dwell on in this archive but @ 4:17 takes the biscuit, just the way the smooth guy is looking over at the hairy guy, oh to have been in his mind at what he was thinking/looking at. 8:29 ready to whisper sweet nothings on a morning wake up. 9:17 the unseen says it all, the unseen passenger's gentle touch hands with the driver in his Speedo's in presumably an RV going where to. Cheers DougT 🇫🇴
Glad you enjoyed the palate cleanser, Doug! Thought a "back to basics" video with some "old friends" in next context might be nice. A few "new friends" in the mix too. :-)
Oh yeah. I've done it on other videos, but many photos have been up-rezzed. Not ideal but given how many photos would otherwise be lost, it's preferabls in my opinion.

@@CollidePress 👍
I believe the hairy one at 4:17 was a porn star from the 80s, Bruno.
The 4:17 hairy guy was a Colt model Bruno - used to see him a lot.
Sweet 😂
Thanks. Some of the older photographs seem to have been processed in some way that makes the images clearer.

@@CollidePress I like the clear images.
I like em, but I prefer hi-quality scans so I can SEE the grain and paper texture. :-)
Friends. Lovers. Family. Colleagues. Teammates. Beautiful same-sex bonds.
Thanks. Yeah, it's all a continuum of brotherly connections in my book. Thank for watching.
