We had the same issue and after watching your helpful video I was ready to disassemble. My wife suggested trying to lie the machine on its face or back to see if the air bubble moved out of the flow meter. I removed the drip tray , water tank, and most beans, unplugged it and tipped it forwards while holding it over the sink. I left it like that for a few seconds, and put the machine back on the counter. It worked perfectly. Maybe we were just lucky but it’s a simple enough thing to try before taking the machine apart.
This exact issue happened for me in the past 24hrs. I was almost ready to buy another machine as it's out of warranty, & everything I had tried to fix it failed. Then I found your video, & my son & myself tried this tonight, & woo hoo the machine is working flawlessly again. Thank you. 👍👍
My wife's machine was only running for 2-3 seconds and thought we might have had a different problem. But this worked! Definitely takes a little finessing, but i managed to get it done in about 45 minutes, having to use my wife's hands for some of the smaller parts. When I opened the flow meter, i thought it was full and was not the issue. I just topped it off and tried it anyways. Before closing the entire thing i set it all flat and plugged the unit back in. Tested it and it worked! Thank you!
Thank you for this video. Following the steps effectively fixed my machine. I’m a bit skeptical that adding water did anything, as the machine could move water thru the system before the 3 beeps. I think what fixes it is breaking the vacuum. Regarding the clips, I found the bottom more challenging, requiring a screwdriver jammed close to the front clips, and using a flat head screwdriver to push the pins. The back panel pins were easy to me because I used the flat head screwdriver and a bit of leverage rather than using a table knife. Hope this helps the next person passing by. And again, thanks for the video!!
Agreed re the breaking the vacuum. I had visible bubbles in the pipes leading up to the boilers so put the thing back together with no water in the lower system at all. It made a few disagreeable noises but sorted itself out during a descale and flush. All good now.
Fixing a coffee machine before I have had my morning coffee is a level of frustration I had not experienced until today 😂 Machine fixed now enjoying the most satisfying cup in a long time.
TRY THIS FIRST: take a syringe (I used my kids Tylenol syringe-cleaned first obviously) and push water through the opening where the water tank sits. No need to take anything off besides the tank. This fills the sensor the same way the machine does normally. I pushed some water through until it came out the front, and that fixed it.
Incredibly helpful comment, thanks. I had tried the flushing which worked for about 24 hours, and then tried this and its been working for 3 days since... hopefully it continues. Did it work straight away for you? I inserted about 250ml (where does all that water go, it never came out anywhere), 5 second problem persisted, then I came back in an hour and its been working well ever since. Was your experience similar?
Just done this using a metal straw , blowing through water (no syringe and desparate!) and it looks to have done the trick. Between this comment and the video what an absolute life saver

Your comment gave me hope 😂. I was doing the same and then I got my partner to try the first fix and yep it worked. Saved ourselves $1000 on a new machine 🙏🏽💙🥳☕️
Thank you so much for sharing! As you my machine was also out of warranty and was being charged $315 for Breville to fix. I’m so glad I found this video… my machine is back in business and working like new! Thanks again! 😊
This saved me so much money! Great video! Only thing I’d say is the tabs are easy to not break if you shine a bright torch and just look at the way they latch, then use 2 flathead screwdrivers one to pull the tab back and the other to lever the plastic apart But this is a really helpful video thanks mate!
Perfect guide to disassembling the machine and fixing the problem! Thank you very much. In case anyone is interested, I managed to remove the big hooks for the back with two flat heads, one pushing the hook down and the other prying the back away from the frame at the same time. Flipping of machine required.
My machine works now-thanks. We filled the flow meter with water and put it back together. The hardest part of this process is placing the flow meter back onto the two little holding slots and also we worked from the back as we could not get the bottom cover off after undoing the 6 screws. We used little blutack to hold the very last screw (which goes inside the back cover under the holding tank)) onto the screw driver.
Thank you for this video! My Breville is back in action after a year of collecting dust. I tried various descaling tricks and resets, but nothing worked. The Barista service center in my country is 170 miles away, and I can't afford the time and money to go there (costing about $100-120 USD). Following your steps, especially the syringe trick to prevent bubbles in the flow meter, was the key. After doing the shot, I noticed a leak from my faulty flow meter, causing the bubble issue. I purchased a new $26 flow meter, installed it three days ago, and now I can successfully pull shots, descale, and flush. I'm thrilled because your video is the only one that addressed all my problems. It seems flow meter issues like bubbles, leaks, and magnetic problems are common in the Breville Barista Pro. P.S.: Dealing with that fiddly part during disassembly tested my patience, especially the first time! 😂
Hi appreciate the detail in your video. After learning what the problem was from your video I thought I'd try getting air lock out with dismantling. Steps I used were; 1. removing drip tray, water tank, bean hopper and inner grinder. 2. Roll machine around and turn upside down while rolling around. 3. Reassemble and on second purge of hot water dial the machine kept pumping👍🏽
This worked like a charm, as many others have suggested. You've saved so many ppl's morning routine (and money), mate! Three tips from my go: 1. the bottom plate was harder for me to remove. Def go from the back, as there are four clips at the front - ended up breaking one but not the end of the world 2. the back plate only has two clips, so if you wedge them at the same time they came off quite easily. 3. that white part was def the most fidgety part - make sure you move other cables aside first and that your orientation is right Thanks again!
An air bubble had formed in the tube between the water reservoir and flow control meter. I opened the flow control meter, drained the tube, reassembled and it started working again. I didn't see any cracks or loose connections from control meter to reservoir so how the air bubble formed is a mystery. Thank you for the video! It makes it possible to actually get inside this thing without causing significant damage.
I have the Sage Barista Touch which is very similar and this video gave me the courage to take it apart (as well as the hint on the clips holding the back panel in place). I now have a working machine again! Saved £250 and a 10-14 day wait to have it fixed at a service centre an hour away, and took all of 1 hour all in. Awesome!
Great video. I also had to open my breville because some sesame seed found their way inside the water inlet. The counter was dirty when I put the tank on the counter to fill it and in it went. I was able also to not break the 2 tabs. I used a plastic pry tool and went at it patiently, gently and popped it out. Thanks again.
Great fix. My Barista Pro is back in action. Saved over $800 on buying a new one. Amazon had the replacement flow meter. Only busted one clip on the bottom but you would never know it once it was back assembled. Thanks!
Brilliant video - thank you so much - saved me a £100 - also thanks for all the warnings, managed to get all the covers off without breaking any clips, the air bubble was at the top of the pipe, had to turn the whole mashine up side down, watched the bubble go all the way back and out!! Brilliant!
I had the same issue and fixed it by turning the whole machine upside-down and giving it a jiggle. Make sure you remove the tank, drip tray and bean hopper first though! 😅
Amazing, thank you for uploading! A couple extra tips/ details: - removing the bottom plate, there are four angled tabs at the front holding it in place. Takes a bit of force and angled pulls to remove. - removing the back plate, I was able to release the top edge first. This created tension along the bottom edge so when I pushed the bottom tabs with a flathead, the bottom corners popped out easily. No broken tabs. Pay special note to the video to ensure you’re releasing the correct tabs as there are a few others underneath. - repositioning the white water canister piece was tricky. Alignment of the bottom pins are key. Aim for this first and keep the piece level. Exact issue and for now, fixed. Will never remove the water jug when turning machine on again. Good luck to everyone!
This worked a treat and saved $150 service fee, thanks. Sorted issue. Managed to get base clips off without breaking off and without taking top of machine off. Not breaking clips was a slow and steady side to side process. Nice and easy!
Just fixed mine following your exact instructions. Now works so thank you very much. Seriously though, anyone in the market for a coffee machine should look elsewhere. Great coffee out of these for sure, but I have gone through 3 in 5 years. Zero reliability.
Thank you! This fixed my machine. I opened mine and the water was about 80% full, just can't believe a tiny air gap would cause the issue. Thanks again!
I had the same problem. Force descaling did not work for me and I am afraid of opening up the machine. So at the end, i fixed this problem by manual extractions with the flushing disc inside. Prepare the way of flushing, but instead of press flushing, I kept doing manual extraction. It fixed my machine 🎉🎉🎉
Dude .. thank you .. I was completely broken this morning when this happened .. first video i saw .. tried the hot water recommendation ..worked like a charm Thank you again
thank you so much for this detailed video save me a trip to sending my coffee’s machine to repair just before christmas. now the machine back on duty. ❤❤❤
Well, that was yesterday and after making half a dozen or so coffees, the problem has reoccurred today. This time I turned the machine upside down and gave it a good shake for about 10 seconds. It cleared the fault again but for how long? My guess it that there is some wear or debris in the pump/impeller and it seizes, turning the machine over frees it up? Looks like I’m going to have to go with disassembly before long but I’ve just made today’s coffee, so it’ll be another day!
@@MAGPies213 No, I literally lifted the machine, tipped it up onto its side and gave it a shake. However, that only worked temporarily and the fault turned out to be the flow meter.
Thank you for this video. I have had this happen a couple of times and last time was able to push water through to break the airlock without taking it apart. I had to take it apart as the video describes and this fixed it. I blew out all the lines and also made sure all the parts in working order. Now cross my fingers that it will last for some time. You saved the day!
I just followed the instructions about tipping the machine upside down for a few seconds and it is working again. Worth a try before pulling the whole machine apart..
Works like magic! I took out the coffee beans tray, water tank, and drip tray, then left the coffee machine upside down for about a minute. I lifted it and gently shook it before placing the trays and the water tank back. Steamer and extraction back to normal, no more stopping at 5 seconds! 100% worth trying before opening it. I still don't know if this issue will come back (hopefully not). 🤞 Let me (us) know if anyone tried this and worked too. I just want to see if this could be the easiest way to resolve the problem.
I want to add my 2c that I had this issue and also resolved by filling tank with descaler and pressing the 2 cup button 1000 times until it finally got past the 5 second mark and then it has working fine ever since.
Awsome video and guide, this fixed it for me, where evey other non opening up and fixing advice had failed. Thanks for posting this, was getting stressed without my morning espresso routine. 👍
100% works. I also got a little syringe (oral medicine syringe) and pushed water into the system from the water tank pipe and waited till the water rose to the surface so no air bubbles would be in there at all. This is just me being ocd though. Make sure you 100% click the little connector cord back, cos I mustn't have pressed mine in correct the first time and had to reopen the machine. Don't be silly like me, lol. 😂
Thank you for posting this video, my barista is working fine again (and if it stops I will just replace the part which is quite cheap compared to a service)... I managed to remove the base without breaking the clips by using some plastic tools commonly used to open mobile phones ;)
Great. Thanka for the tutorial. I managed to remove the clips that you had mentioned without breaking them by applying pressure with a big screwdriver upon the clip and then gently working out the back cover with a smaller screw driver in the hinges
Very helpful video, saved me a 2 week wait for repair, thanks. At 3:22 to avoid leaking from flowmeter, place o-ring/seal in top-part when assembling, took me a couple of disassemblies to get right 😊
Hey dude! Enormous thanks and mega-props for this video. Been sittin on a busted machine with this problem for too long. An excellent video which captures everything I needed to know. Saw some air bubbles in the pipes, so additionally I disconnected them from the spinny valve wotsit to clear that. Anyway you gave me the confidence to have a crack and I'm so glad I did. AWESOME. PEACE!
Another video by CY in Singapore suggested clearing the bubble by running the steam wand into a cup of water for awhile instead of taking apart the whole machine and it worked without all the work.
Another thing that you can try is tipping the machine upside down for at least 10 seconds. I’ve done this before and it worked first go. yesterday I had to do it again (after the machine had been working fine for many months) and it took 4 or 5 goes. Also trying over and over to flush the machine, which of course works properly once the air bubble has moved.
Thanks for this. But I was able to resolve by: 1. taking water tank off, blowing down the black plastic water seal at back of the machine where water tank joins onto (no idea if this actually helped clear any water lock) 2. poured some extra water into the black water seal, slammed water tank down back into place, some bubbles came up 3. let the hot water run through for 20 seconds or so, whilst shaking the machine a bit like a mad man 3. repeated step 1-3 a couple of times Slightly crazy approach but involved no disassembly :D
Yes! This slamming approach worked! I I gave the tank several drops on the seal and it’s working again! I tried disassembling it but could get the cap off to expose the screw by the water tank
Absolute legend!! I’ve had this playing up for a couple of months which has been driving me up the wall, I tried this yesterday and so far so good. Thank you so, so much for sharing this info in a really digestible way! I don’t have any tips to share other than I tried the alternative fixes that people have recommended, and they didn’t work - if anyone is doubting trying this, it really isn’t too difficult to fix if you’re patient. Again, thank you so much.
Such a great video! I managed to repair my machine even without breaking any clips. Thank you so much for sharing! I tried to buy you a coffee but didn't work 😢
Great work! Thanks so much for trying and your feedback. I've now changed it to PayPal as I think that will be easier. Great to hear you saved some time and $$$! 🥳
Mate, just want to thank you and shouldn’t be enough tho! Just follow your instructions and was able to solve this pain that I had for a few months!! I really appreciate!! ❤
Thanks for such an in depth video. Having followed the steps including breaking those lower clips I found no to little air in the system and a working flow meter. I am wondering weather my turning the machine to acess the screws moved the little air that was on the system. I will definitely try old mates turn it upside down and back up again without the water and coffee attached before doing this again.
Thanks a MILLIION (or more precisely A$300 repair quote) for this awesome video !!! It looks like it's fixed ours and I even managed not to break any clips but I tell you putting that #$@#$ flow meter back in was an absolute bee !!! Also can I recommend everyone get a small plastic syringe (you can actually ask for them for free at chemists) which helps pump water back through the hoses from the tank hole to refill after you have disassembled .. again thanks so much mate you're a legend !!
Our machine had this exact problem and we were a little terrified at the prospect of pulling the whole machine apart. I happened to see a comment somewhere that sometimes the machine might need descaling. We did this- had to persevere many times before water would go through, and then had to descale twice more before the problem was solved.
Thank you sooooo much!!!! We had this issue and put our machine in for a service and they couldn’t find the fault. Machine came back and was working okay then the same issue happened again. Anyways, I’ve been so frustrated about it and decided to search on here for tips and THANKGOD I found your upload because the first fix worked. If it happens again then I’ll get my partner to do the second fix. Cheers 🥳🍻 🇦🇺
From what I see many of us have this problem recently, I believe that the Barista Pro was defective from the line, my girlfriend has the simplest Breville model, she has 5 years with it and has not given her problems, I bought almost two years ago the Barista and today I woke up with this problem.
I’ve got to agree - the fact this one video has 27,000 views in 12 months implies it’s a pretty common problem! Which I’m glad hasn’t happened to mine again since making this vid!
To avoid breaking clips I used a butter knife to pry the clip inward gently and then pushed up the bottom of the clip with a small flat head. Opened very easy
I cannot believe it… I have Barista Express. It used to be like this for over a year now. Extracting for 2 seconds and just stops. I opened up the machine (make sure to empty all coffee beforehand) and found the white plastic thingy. I couldn’t get it out so I twisted its cap at its place and it just opened up. It was filled about 70%. I used a plastic pipette to fill the rest. As it filled a bubble raised up the pipe. I didn’t bother with it. Just replaced the plastic ring and closed the cap. When I ran the machine I instantly noticed the difference in sound it makes. Extraction took about 15 seconds I guess and coffee coming out was so smooth. I can’t believe how 5ml water changed everything. Thank you so much it used to bother me a lot.
Woo! Your video saved Christmas! Haha. I somehow didn't even break the two tabs you warned would likely break! The HARDEST part by far was re-seeding the little pump thing. Trying to set in place was very difficult with that MESS of wires you have to work through. I helped solve that by using a twist-tie to keep all the wires together, then strapping them out of the way with another twist tie. But even then, it felt like I got lucky when the thing clicked in place. Not sure what filling the devil device up with water does, but it worked! My only fear now, is it happening again! But thank you for your video! NOTE: I did not remove the bottom, as you said it was only an option.
When reinstalling the flow meter: if you remove the screw on the back left base of the machine, the whole flow meter mount can be swung out allowing easy access! Makes it easy as!
Thanks so much. Nice to know what causes it. Hot water trick worked for me after 25 goes. I was doing it for one last time having just vacuumed out the beans and it just carried on putting out water.
Thank you!! Thank you! Detailed, step by step guide. Worked! (And what the hell Breville!!? Obviously this happens a lot. 28,000 views! Change the design on this expensive machine!)
Really thank you for this video. Followed the instruction and pour water into the meter to push the air bubbles fully out the pipe. Then everything returns normal. Appreciate!
After trying all the tricks down here in the comments, I ended up having to do this - but I only removed the bottom then the back, not the top. When you're handling those clips, a long and small flat head can be used to push them out of the latch. Although, I noticed that from my trial attempts some water had come out along the base of the machine (very small amounts) so I suspected a leak. This fix did work, and I was able to get the machine running! A week after doing this, my GFCI outlet trips while the machine is ending a double cup cycle. Cracked it open after ensuring it wasn't just drawing too much power and it wasn't the outlet, and spotted condensation all over the inside of the machine - water drops were visible everywhere. Honestly wondering if air got in the system through a leak that is now making itself very obvious. Either way, this causes 3 dual outlets on a wall of my home to have power cut as I think it's shorting.. So this machine will remain opened up until I find out where the leak is coming from. I appreciate the video.
Adding more here, at the top of the machine, the thermo-jet coil on the left was spewing water everywhere when running. It was the elbow connector on the left. If you’re having a similar issue, Google part number “SP0100073”. Replacing the clamp, elbow and ring worked well. Note the accessory tray behind your drip tray should not have water getting into it, this can be an easy sign of a leak.
Thank you so much. Didn’t have an air bubble. A small piece of plastic in the pump. Not sure how it got there. Managed not to break anything in the process.
Nice work!! 🙌 It must have got sucked through from the water reservoir, I wonder if a piece from the water filter holder has broken? Awesome effort saving yourself some $$$ and time at the repairer 👌
I had the same problem and was about to disassemble. I solved it by power cycling the machine several times. With each power on some water is cycled through the system into the drip tray and it was enough to bleed the lines.
I have the same issue and just tried this 2 times and still cant fix the issue. Even filled up the tube between the meter and the water tank and nothing. Kind of feeling like im hitting a dead end.
Great video thanks. i had this issue and ran though it, it worked for a while but stopped again, i found the seal on the flow meter must leak a bit air gets sucked in? I lubed mine with some Vaseline and so far so good.
Great video, I changed my flow meter in a few minutes after watching this and didn’t break any tabs either. Unfortunately this did not fix the problem. Any more ideas?
hello friend, please can you give me details about the repairs. with my coffee machine, you set it for a single coffee for 13 seconds, for 2 coffees I set it for 30 seconds and the water stops at 20 seconds, what could be the problem? and when grinding the grains, I set it to 13 and it doesn't grind fine, I also tried 5 but it still grinds like that
That does sound like a grind issue more than a hardware issue. Have you tried removing the burr grinder and setting it to the lowest grind? I have my burr grinder on #1 and typically grind at 6 to 12 (depending on bean age) with 20g of beans in the grouphead.
We had the same issue and after watching your helpful video I was ready to disassemble. My wife suggested trying to lie the machine on its face or back to see if the air bubble moved out of the flow meter. I left it like that for a few seconds, and put the machine back on the counter. It worked perfectly. Maybe we were just lucky but it’s a simple enough thing to try before taking the machine apart.
That's brilliant!
I just did what you said and it fixed mine too. Tell your wife she saved me an hour of my life so I can now drink more beer ! Thank u

I had the same scenario. This video possibly saved me hundreds of dollars

Video is a lifesaver. Though there was cussing, almost giving up, trying to convince my wife just to get a new one, it did work. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. Following the steps effectively fixed my machine.

I did it quite a few times until water started coming out where the drip is if it’s in place
Yes! Thank you! This worked for me, so glad I didn't have to open up the machine.
@@jokwod Hello! Can I please ask you to clarify what you mean with a metal straw? Getting pretty close to madness on my end!

Great fix. My Barista Pro is back in action. Saved over $800 on buying a new one. Amazon had the replacement flow meter. Only busted one clip on the bottom but you would never know it once it was back assembled. Thanks!
That’s brilliant - nice work 🥳☕️
Brilliant video - thank you so much - saved me a £100 - also thanks for all the warnings, managed to get all the covers off without breaking any clips, the air bubble was at the top of the pipe, had to turn the whole mashine up side down, watched the bubble go all the way back and out!! Brilliant!
Nice work! 👏
Thanks for this! My Sage Barista Pro developed this issue after almost 3 years of use. Cleaning the water flow meter did a job!
I had the same issue and fixed it by turning the whole machine upside-down and giving it a jiggle. Make sure you remove the tank, drip tray and bean hopper first though! 😅
Amazing, thank you for uploading! A couple extra tips/ details:
- removing the bottom plate, there are four angled tabs at the front holding it in place.
It worked for me, too! Thanks a lot!
That worked thanks. I’m facing a b problem, the water leak from the flow meter. What should I do
What do you mean by not removing the water jug when turning the machine on?
This worked a treat and saved $150 service fee, thanks. Sorted issue. Managed to get base clips off without breaking off and without taking top of machine off. Not breaking clips was a slow and steady side to side process. Nice and easy!
Nice work!
Well done! 👏
Instruction is perfect. My machine is back. Time to enjoy a cup of coffee! Thanks for this video.
Dude .. thank you .. I was completely broken this morning when this happened .. first video i saw .. tried the hot water recommendation ..worked like a charm
Thank you again
Getting it sorted by just running hot water is a win!
thank you so much for this detailed video save me a trip to sending my coffee’s machine to repair just before christmas. now the machine back on duty. ❤❤❤
Great disassembly video. Thank you. However, I managed to clear the airlock by taking the water tank off and turning the machine onto its side.
Hello! I was just about to try this - could you specify which side you turned it to, and for how long? Thanks so much!
@@markhutchensAh how annoying! Mine was fixed briefly by forcing some water through with a straw, but it’s gone again. Looks like I need to unscrew!
How did you force water with a straw??
@@MAGPies213 No, I literally lifted the machine, tipped it up onto its side and gave it a shake. However, that only worked temporarily and the fault turned out to be the flow meter.
Thank you for this video. I have had this happen a couple of times and last time was able to push water through to break the airlock without taking it apart. I had to take it apart as the video describes and this fixed it. I blew out all the lines and also made sure all the parts in working order. Now cross my fingers that it will last for some time. You saved the day!
Great work! 👏
You, sir, are a legend! Followed your instructions exactly and my machine is back to its best. Thanks!
Let me (us) know if anyone tried this and worked too. I just want to see if this could be the easiest way to resolve the problem.
@@BayuNuswantoro Same worked for me - thanks for this tip! Saved me inevitably breaking clips 🤣
thank you for this, it helped me as well
This worked for me as well!
I want to add my 2c that I had this issue and also resolved by filling tank with descaler and pressing the 2 cup button 1000 times until it finally got past the 5 second mark and then it has working fine ever since.
My machine got the exactly same issue. Your video saved my machine!!! Thank you!!
What’s funny is that the same clip broke on me as well.
Awsome video and guide, this fixed it for me, where evey other non opening up and fixing advice had failed. Thanks for posting this, was getting stressed without my morning espresso routine. 👍
Had my machine ready to take to the tip but thanks to this video I may have extended its life. Much appreciated
That’s a win - great job! 🙌
Hai. Can u specify which part you use your syringe? Is it before dissamble?
Thank you for posting this video, my barista is working fine again (and if it stops I will just replace the part which is quite cheap compared to a service)... I managed to remove the base without breaking the clips by using some plastic tools commonly used to open mobile phones ;)
Ah that’s a good tip - thanks for sharing!
Super instrukcja. Przywróciło Express do życia, dzięki.
AWESOME. PEACE!
This problem ruined my sunday morning ritual but this worked after about an 45mins of trying to dismantle this damn machine lol.
Thank you
Great work! And you saved yourself a trip to the repairer 🥳
Another video by CY in Singapore suggested clearing the bubble by running the steam wand into a cup of water for awhile instead of taking apart the whole machine and it worked without all the work.
Thank you *SO* much! I was about to take my machine apart and you saved me from that arduous task. Kudos to you! The steam wand trick worked! 😊
This worked for me too! Thanks ALOT!
This just worked for me! Thank you!! I was not about to take apart my machine
I wish this worked for me. Wand turns off after 6 pumps. I tried switching wand on and off each time but it didn't work.
Thanks for doing this. This fixed my issue without needing to send the machine in for a more expensive repair.
Thanks for this. But I was able to resolve by:
1. taking water tank off, blowing down the black plastic water seal at back of the machine where water tank joins onto (no idea if this actually helped clear any water lock)
2. poured some extra water into the black water seal, slammed water tank down back into place, some bubbles came up
3. let the hot water run through for 20 seconds or so, whilst shaking the machine a bit like a mad man
3. repeated step 1-3 a couple of times
Slightly crazy approach but involved no disassembly :D
😆 now that would make for an interesting video!
Great to hear that you've got it fixed 👏
Awesome to hear! Great job getting it sorted yourself 👍
😆 yes that flow meter is not much fun! Great job getting it done yourself 👏
Gotta love a quick fix! That’s great to hear the first option worked, even if it’s just for now 😁
From what I see many of us have this problem recently, I believe that the Barista Pro was defective from the line, my girlfriend has the simplest Breville model, she has 5 years with it and has not given her problems, I bought almost two years ago the Barista and today I woke up with this problem.
I’ve got to agree - the fact this one video has 27,000 views in 12 months implies it’s a pretty common problem!
Which I’m glad hasn’t happened to mine again since making this vid!
Thank you so much, this worked like a charm! I didn't even break the clips :)
To avoid breaking clips I used a butter knife to pry the clip inward gently and then pushed up the bottom of the clip with a small flat head. Opened very easy
thank you! I was pushing the clip outward til i read this comment :)
Did it, works like magic!!!! Thanks so much. Must add that the base of the rotor is different looking in my machine....
Thank you! We tried this today and it appears to have worked. I’m so grateful!
Hey nice work! 👏
🥳 great work getting it sorted in time for Christmas and thanks for sharing some tips!
You saved me 8 or 9 hundred dollars. Thanks!
Bro. You saved my life😢 that works. Thank you so much.
Did this. It worked for a week and the issue started again.
Awesome video with very detailed instructions. I followed the instructions step by step, and I was able to fixed my barista pro.
That’s fantastic - great job!! 🙌
Crazy that this works! Great video, solid instruction and easy to follow.
Great explanation, saved my machine ❤️
Thanks I would have never worked out this was the issue with my machine without this video
Thaaaaaaank you!!!!! You’ve saved my life! You’ve made my day! I’m absolutely happy!Lots of greetings from Germany. Have a great day!
When reinstalling the flow meter: if you remove the screw on the back left base of the machine, the whole flow meter mount can be swung out allowing easy access! Makes it easy as!
Legend - great tip!
This is actually very helpful
Thanks so much. Nice to know what causes it. Hot water trick worked for me after 25 goes. I was doing it for one last time having just vacuumed out the beans and it just carried on putting out water.
You saved our coffee machine. Thank you so much ever so grateful ❤
Great work getting it fixed!
Thanks for the detailed video! Made it simple for me to fix my machine - it's now working again just in time for the weekend :)
Awesome!! I had exactly the same problem.
Really good explanation and step by step guide.
Thank you!!
Nice work!! 🙌
It must have got sucked through from the water reservoir, I wonder if a piece from the water filter holder has broken?
Awesome effort saving yourself some $$$ and time at the repairer 👌
Thanks mate, I was stumped, I was trying to brew with no luck, but trying the hot water setting worked
I had the same problem and was about to disassemble. I solved it by power cycling the machine several times. With each power on some water is cycled through the system into the drip tray and it was enough to bleed the lines.
This worked for me too! I power cycled it 7-8 times and now it works normally. You saved me the headache of dissembling it or sending it for repairs
@@Kayecharles55how do you power cycle this?
@@sherryk5008literally turn it off then on, wait for the purging noise to finish, then repeat
Thanks
You sir are a life saver, this was an excellent guide.
Followed this same procedure to fix my Barista Pro. Thanks a lot.
Great video, unfortunately did not resolve my issue. Any other thoughts?
Did you find another solution,, followed step by step and didn't resolve mine either.
@@alexwebb4255 and me. machine still faulty.
Same. Hoping not to have to send it to Breville
@@dudescott8983 Hey - I fixed mine by running the descale function about 15 times in a row - give it a try!
Thanks. It worked! I didn’t break the clips as I used a light to find where the clip was on the side and eased it out.
Had the issue of water/coffee only running for 5 second intervals. Just did this and it worked because two of the tubes were built up with gunk.
Wow thanks for the video, how can I know if I had the same problem, my machine doesn’t get out water at all…?
I have the same issue and just tried this 2 times and still cant fix the issue. Even filled up the tube between the meter and the water tank and nothing. Kind of feeling like im hitting a dead end.
I have the same issue, do you have any updates?
Drop the water tank up and down on to its hole several times and like mine you find it works again so no need to pull apart
Thank you for the detailed instructions. It was very helpful to fix the issue with the machine.
Thank you my friend. I have done it and it working fine now.
Great video thanks. i had this issue and ran though it, it worked for a while but stopped again, i found the seal on the flow meter must leak a bit air gets sucked in? I lubed mine with some Vaseline and so far so good.
Great tip - thanks for sharing it!
Legend...worked a charm. Thank you.
Great video, I changed my flow meter in a few minutes after watching this and didn’t break any tabs either. Unfortunately this did not fix the problem. Any more ideas?
Thanks. Very fiddly but thankfully it resolved my issue after a second attempt.
Great video. Problem solved. Thank you for posting.
Great to hear! Well done getting it sorted 👏☕️
Thanks for your video 👍 after trying the hot water rinse I smacked the sides of it and it worked fine again 😂
😂 that would make for a much shorter video!
hello friend, please can you give me details about the repairs. with my coffee machine, you set it for a single coffee for 13 seconds, for 2 coffees I set it for 30 seconds and the water stops at 20 seconds, what could be the problem? and when grinding the grains, I set it to 13 and it doesn't grind fine, I also tried 5 but it still grinds like that
That does sound like a grind issue more than a hardware issue.
Have you tried removing the burr grinder and setting it to the lowest grind?
I have my burr grinder on #1 and typically grind at 6 to 12 (depending on bean age) with 20g of beans in the grouphead.
