- I take a ride into Solana Beach to have my stock pipes switched out for some Vance and Hines Twin Slash slip ons. On the way home, some lady starts to pull into my path so I get to try out the new exhaust by delivering an attention grabbing series of rev bombs so she sees me. LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES! I installed mine myself. Awesome sound. And you’re right, not too loud, just perfect
awesome brother! Thats what I love about these Vance and Hines pipes! Sounds great and just loud enough!!!!
The Twin Slash's with the standard baffles are nice in the sense that you can be 'kinda' stealthy with them if you want, and when you get on the gas they roar a pretty good amount. The competition baffles are just a whole other level of loud... I toyed around with both and wound up going back to the standards.
Very true. I never tried the competition baffles but the standard ones worked great for me.
Thanks to your video, I picked these up myself. The sound in person is nothing close to what we hear here. Definitely a perfect slip on pick for the 22 FXLRS.
Aw man! Thanks for the update! These are great pipes for the money, loud but not too loud. I know its hard to hear what they really sound like with the helmet mic. Glad you jumped on them! Ride safe brother and I rally really appreciate your support!
You're 100% correct! Loud pipes do save lives. It may tick a lot of people off but if it was their life they would love those loud pipes! Love the Vance & Hines pipes!
To be fair ANYTHING sounds better and louder than the stock mufflers. I was super excited once I heard my Cobra NH for the first time on my 117 LRS. Also I live in LA. No loud pipes will guarantee a save but I think they can help for sure.
Being from the east coast I can’t imagine splitting lanes like that and people not wanting to run you off the road. I know it’s a thing in some western states. Sick bike! Be safe bro!😎
Thank you. The statistics have shown lane splitting actually saves lives as long as you are responsible with it. They legalized it in Arizona recently after analyzing data from other states that allow it. Ride safe brother.
Dude, I’m loving the channel. Love the FXLRS content. I love mine. The pipes sound awesome. Unfortunately I don’t have anyone local that I could use to remap my bike for something like that. There’s only a couple of shops around here that are trustworthy and they stay booked out for months in advance. I mean, one of them could probably do it, but it might be 2-3 months before they get to me!
That lady was like, “I can’t believe I have to wait an entire millisecond for this biker to pass? He’s probably high on drugs too!” Dirty biker!
Thanks brother! Wheres local for you? I know a shop local to me that could do it.
You could buy a Vance and Hines Fuel Pak and put it on your bike. Its plug and play and it comes with quite a few preprogrammed maps but you can also call their technical department and tell them what pipes you're running and the bike they're on and they'll give you a map that's appropriate over the phone. It's easy to program...you dont need a computer or anything. Just plug it in (under your seat) and it's as simple as that. It's not expensive either...I had one several years ago...I think it was around $300. The Screaming Eagle remap/tune is a little pricey and other tuners like Thundermax can get up there in price but you really dont need that kind of tune if you're staying stock except for the exhaust. You just have to make sure you're not running lean and the FuelPak will get that done.
Ride safe!
I put some on my 2020 street bob and didn't need a tuner. They're LOUD and I love it!
In my opinion, these slip ons give me just the right amount of sound to be heard in traffic and still not piss off the neighbors and attract attention from the cops. Thank you for your support and ride safe brother.
Holy Sh*t that MF'er that almost pulled out on you. I h8 that Shiz. My dad lost his life like that.
Now I know what pipes you went with. I like them. The V&H slash cut may be the slip on's for me. Thanks Squatch
I have the same slipons and they pop a lot XD
Did you have it mapped? The shop I went to downloaded a map on mine. Mine doesn’t pop on deceleration, but pops once in a while on hard acceleration.
Cali riding...doesnt get any better👍😎...Did you ride your new Bike to AZ and NM?
I did and have videos coming of the whole trip. Rode through one of the craziest storms I have ever seen, thought I might not make it a couple of times.
Good work bro. So you noticed a performance gain as well with the remap and slip ons? I’m hoping to get my 117 LRS in a week or two. And definitely will be changing the pipes.
Totally man! Not a drastic change, but its a 100% improvement over stock and Im totally happy with it and I still have the warranty. Ride Safe brother.
@@Motosquatch and you bro
The stock pipes burn out in time and sound great.
I have actually heard a set of stocks that sounded good, was wondering about that. Thanks for the tip! Ride safe brother.
Great review. Looks and sounds perfect!! Did you notice any performance gains from the Vance and Hines and re-map?
Thank you, kind sir! Did notice, nothing drastic but definitely noticeable! The 117 has plenty of power for me so I wasnt really looking to get a bunch more power, just wanted the sound for lane splitting purposes since i commute daily. Totally happy with the pipes and map! Really appreciate your support!
did these pipes require a tune at all???
Did not require a tune but I did have it mapped. Pipes, map and labor was about 800.
Great vid man, what models are the pipes?
Thanks man! Really appreciate the support! Vance and Hines Twin Slash slip on pipes.
Love the bike. Which tuner are you using and which luggage rack do you have?
No Tuner yet, just had it mapped. It runs great! Luggage rack from Motherwell Products. I absolutely love the bike too!

Thanks bro. It's so awesome when guys reply to questions. Just subscribed yesterday and love the channel. I'm getting a low rider s this month and so far, I'm going for the same upgrades. One more question. Did harley install the luggage rack or did you? Thanks again.
@@frankdoughertyjr.7995 man I really really appreciate the support and am looking forward to seeing you on your lowrider and the upgrades. I installed it. Super easy. You need to order the seat nut kit insert with it. It says on the website. Rode safe brother. I appreciate you! I’m about to become an instructor for the California motorcycle safety program so keep watching!!!
Hey love your videos. I have mix reviews some people tell me that I don’t need a map for slip on‘s . Is that true yes or no???
DOES THE BIKE NEED TO BE TUNED? I JUST ORDERED MINE AND I HAVE SEEN MIXED REVIEWS SAYING YOU DON'T NEED TO. I'M WONDERING ABOUT ENGINE DAMAGE, NOTHING ELSE.
I didnt have mine tuned but they did download a base map. I would suggest at least doing that, they said it didnt need to be tuned unless i went full exhaust.
💪👌
They're not slip on mufflers...those are pipes
Mufflers go on touring bikes mainly...
good to know, thank you for the correction brother.
Do you have the link to the ones you bought? Looking to get one soon and definitely want to change pipes

I love these pipes, Not too loud but loud enough and the price is right. I had them on my 883 sportster as well.
Thank you!! Hope they release the big radius soon for this bike
Yeah man! Me too! This is about all I can do to the bike at the moment without voiding the warranty. They gave me an extra year on top of the 2 year so I’m trying to keep that going.
@@Motosquatch the site you linked me to says radius will fit the 22 but I don't have one so I don't know what will void warranty I think of you're helping the motor breath and operate a maximum proficiency they should increase your warranty haha
I noticed a luggage rack on the rear fender, where did you pick that up?

@@Motosquatch thank you!
@@jasongoodwin5415 For sure! Ride safe!
Loud pipes make you deaf. The only way they could help in traffic is if you could make a bike sound like a kenworth jake braking while screeching 18 wheels. (you can't). Most people don't see and don't hear what's around them. You ride what you like, as loud as you like, but don't depend on them making you more noticeable except for sleeping neighbors.
My experience says different. When I’m lane splitting, they hear me coming and traffic parts like the Red Sea for Moses. Before the pipes, traffic would creep in on me. Believe me I do not depend on anything when I ride except for my own awareness and experience. Oh. And I wear ear plugs. 😁
I appreciate your comments and feedback. Ride safe brother. 🤘🏻
Sounds like a a Harley Davidson!
Yeah buddy!
Loud pipes save lives? Not at 3 a.m. That then wakes up "Mr. Hyde" at your neighbor's, which may be bad for your health. ;-)
:-D Neighbor haters :-D
Don't agree with the save lives thing. I also don't agree with the independent pipes. 2 into one is much better.
All good brother. Everyone entitled to their personal opinions. Rode safe!
Says “loud pipes save lives”, then rides around blinding oncoming vehicles with his brights on.
🤦🏻♂️
Oops 😅
Did you have to buy the screaming eagle tuner to download the new map
Local shop used their tuner. I can give you details via private message. Its actually a pretty sweet setup what they did.
Any other tuner then the screaming eagle voids the warranty. So if they flashed your bike using power vision your warranty is toast
@@Motosquatch no idea how to pm you but if you could send me one I’d like to hear what they did
Here's how it works, there is no such thing as the shops tuner, they probably charged you for a power vision license and flashed the ecm, the ECM will retain information when flashed ect. Harley will know it wasn't one of their screaming eagle maps. Also there is no flash back to stock and bring it to Harley, the ECM will show that as well. So unless you have an inside man at Harley or they actually sold you a screaming eagle tuner. You do not have a warranty. Hope that helps
@@bigleftlcn I get that brother.

Nice work on those pipes bro
I KNOW RIGHT!!!!!
Thanks man. I really like the V and H twin slash slip ons. Has them on my 883 and loved tham! The price is right too!
What is happening at 5:28? My brain just cant comprehend how people can be like this. ERROR 404 ERROR 404. Srsly, to me this is attempted murder.
