How to Install a Deployant Clasp

- In this video we show you how to install a deployant clasp on a watch that already has a standard prong buckle. It's a very simple procedure, and requires a minimal amount of tools.
Deployant clasps are shown here: www.longislandwatch.com/Deplo...
Calipers and spring bar tools can be found here: www.longislandwatch.com/Watch... Хобби
Also helps eliminate dropping your watch when you take it off
And if you ever end up a grifters mark, they won't be able to slip it off your wrist
Just purchased a Michel Herbilin Newport Trophy watch (with deployment clasp). Had some trouble with the clasp at first. After watching this video I finally managed to figure it out! Thanks.
I have bought 3-4 of these deployant clasps from Long Island Watch and 2-3 from Amazon. I can tell you there is no question in the quality and finishing. The LIW ones are ready to go out of the "box". They are smooth and comfortable with no uncomfortable edges. The amazon ones, while a little more inexpensive, are full of sharp edged and all have needed additional attention to make them comfortable. The Amazon clasps really lack the refinement that the LIW ones have. I end up sitting at computer or TV and using a fine nail file board to radius all the edges on the buttons, frame, buckle side, the strap side. It takes 30-45 minutes plus PER deployant clasp. To me that is not worth saving $10 per clasp. I will only buy the LIW ones from now on.
In full disclosure, I don't know Mark, have never met Mark and am just an occasional customer of Long Island Watch. This was written to hopefully save you the headache I ended up with when ordering cheap. Thx, Joe
I’ve bought some 3$ ones on AliExpress, so far so good
Thanks alot because i just bought a watch with this type of band and had no idea how to work it lol.
Thanks for making this video. I didn't know anything about deployant clasps before but I was googling hidden buckles for leather watches and this was the first result. Really clear instructions, and nice close up video.
I had to revisit your excellent video here 5 years on after my leather strap finally died today. Ever grateful to you given the absolutely useless videos on YT on this topic elsewhere!
Just ordered replacement leather band and deployant clasp. This video will be extremely helpful when I install the new band. Thanks you very much. Great video and narrative.
Just bought a Bulova watch that came with a deployant clasp....nice...but I didn't know how to tighten the band. Thanks for your video. Easy peezy...now off to buy my wife a deployant clasp for her watch band. Helpful video. Thank you.
Not only I understand how to operate this kind of clasp now, I also know why it is used👍🏻👌🏻. Even 5 year old vid has value 😊
Just installed mine today. Nice product. I thought it might a lot of bulk to the strap but it's actually not too bad. Your video helped a lot with the install - thanks!
Thanks Mark for the articulate walk-through. I do this myself already, but I appreciate the vocabulary from an obvious craftsman.
Thanks!
I've had a watch strap for about a year that I've wanted to use but had no idea how it worked.....until now. Thanks for the video.
Hello Marc, --AGAIN-- When the student is ready, the teacher appears! This demonstration/tutorial is VERY helpful, --and (several years after you produced it), --it's "TIMELY" ;-) Thank you and timeless best wishes!
THANK YOU Mark with Long Island Watch! You saved me money and most importantly time! It was so easy! Thank you!
Thank you! I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to work this😁 you are a life saver💕
Great video! Never thought about how the deployant clasp extends the life of a strap.
Thank you so much. This was great. You have given me many ideas. I just bought a watch and I didn’t know how to adjust the band until this video. Thanks!!!
Thanks Marc...I purchased two leather straps for my Invicta Pro Divers for wearing in the summer. I'm so getting those buckles upgraded now...Thanks again.
Sounds like a good plan.
Thanks Marc. Great instructional video.
Replaced my Seiko 5 snk793 stainless steel band
with a blue leather clasp . Looks great now.
One thing to keep in mind, the "U" end that you attach to the buckle end of your band, sometimes you have to shave the band down a bit to make it fit. I have several resin bands that I had to do this to so the clasp would actually attach. Other than that, I am 100% all about deployant clasps helping the bands last way longer!
Great instructional video. I am pretty mechanically inclined, normally, but this thing was making me crazy! It so happens that I own a carbon fiber, digital caliper that I picked up on Amazon for well under $10.00. That's in case you don't order on from this gentleman.
I just got my first deployment buckle and used this video to help me put it on. It looks damn good and easy to wear!
Great! Enjoy!!!!
U just saved me
I've trying to figure it out since morning, now is 4:02pm 😥
Finally I've found a way out🤗🤗🤗
Thanks 👍👍
Brilliant tutorial, clear and informative. Taught me something very useful. Going to upgrade the fasteners on all my leather watch straps... thank you so much! WFH
"It popped right awf"
"Now that it's instawlled"
Love lawnguyland accents.
muffemod I feel ya. I love when my mom's accent comes out. (It's rare, because she hasn't lived there in decades, but it's great when it does)
Law it when pewple care about the accent in a watch video
Very helpful video. I have hated the leather bands on most of my watches and replaced them with metal bracelets which are much easier to put on and take off. Maybe this will let me put the leather bands back on some of my watches again. Thanks!
You are most welcome.
every time we try to fasten / remove watch we always fear the cracking leather LOL
@@islandwatch Hey, man. What number/letter stainless steel type do I need for someone with allergies to cheap metals? I know they're not always 100% stainless steel, so I'm unsure.
@@joeslacker1020 I think a of clasps are made of 316 SS 👍
Thank you Mark! Helpful for a college kid getting into the big leagues of watches (my Timex doesn’t have this lol)
Thanks Mark! Your videos have been very helpful.

NICE! I want at new watch and this is one of the accessories for it. I wasn't sure if. I was going to get it because I didn't know how they work, this video shows how it works and now Im sold. Awesome video!
Really useful and informative video .. thanks 👍
Mark, you are a genius! I am a high school teacher of 15 years, and a huge fan of how you deliver your lessons. I will only make my seiko and orient watch purchases through your store if only for your brilliant customer service and educational model. Thanks for making me interested in watches.
Btw, I’d love to get my wife an Orient Soma for her birthday next year, I’ve noticed that you don’t carry those in your store. Any suggestions as to where I could get one? Or, will your store be carrying those any time soon?
Thanks for the very helpful tips. Mark
Perfect vid. I bought a watch with butterfly lock for the firsttime in my life, but the watch seller adjust the strap to loose. So by the vid i’d adjust the strap, and my new watch fits perfectly on my wrist. Normaly i have the famous pin buckle, and of course a strap will be worn out quicly. I not know that you can put the strap without bending in the first lug., so it is saving my crocodile strap for a while. My other watch is also suited with a crocodile strap, so maybe i will put a butterfly lock on it to. I have also a watch with calfskin.
Good camera angles! Very helpful
Excellent, excellent, excellent... Thank you very much!
Very well explained. Thank you.
Excellent!! waiting for my bambino.
Thanks so much, got a new Breitling watch and had to set up the new band and you saved me going back to the dealer and looking stupid

Ohh I like that. I was wondering about these.
That Orient is a classic!
Yes, it is!
Fabulous ! I've been looking at other RUclips butterfly clasp videos and I still could not figure out how to open the butterfly clasp installed on a strap I bought. Yours mentioned "it's called a double push-button deployant 'cause it has two buttons on it ....", and eureka ! Darn, why don't other videos mention it, grrr. Thanks, problem solved !
nice sharing, thanks.
Quite an interesting topic!
Thanks!
Thank you very much.
About to add one of these to my automatic bulova dress watch. But next month I'm getting a long island dress watch 😎
