    i think you should point out that two symfonisk bookshelves as a stereo pair is going to sound way better than one Sonos one and is still cheaper

    I started out with the Sonos Beam Gen 1 and Symfonisk bookshelf speakers as rear surrounds. I added the Gen 3 Sub about year later. Recently, I upgraded to the One SLs for the rear surrounds. I really can't hear the differences between the Symfonisk -vs- One SLs in the 5.1 configuration? The One SLs look better and easier to place with the smaller size. I don't feel I was missing out on sound quality going with the Symfonisk.
    IKEA needs to come out with a Symfonisk subwoofer yesterday!

      The Ikea models are really just repackaged Sonos ones for less money, which makes them amazing value. I have them all around my house and they work wonders.

    Given my home setup (loads of ikea furniture) and that I will getting the Beam and Sub Mini soon, these will be getting used as surrounds. Initially as rear fills, but might get another two for fronts depending on which sounds better in isolation (front only vs rear only).
    Excellent comparison and solidified my idea :)

    I was expecting an actual sound comparison...
    Yes I know there would be issues with microphones on their end, speakers on our end and youtube compression but all things being equal it would have been nice to have that audio comparison.

    • @slickdeals
      @slickdeals  2 года назад +7

      Sorry - we tried a sound comparison in our Sonos Roam video and between our equipment and room, we couldn't replicate the sound we were hearing for video, so we decided not to attempt in depth sound comparisons. That said, we all felt that the sound quality between all three speakers was surprisingly comparable. Here's the RTINGS comparison we mentioned which doesn't have audio tracks for comparison but is very technical - www.rtings.com/speaker/tools/compare/sonos-one-gen-2-vs-ikea-symfonisk-bookshelf/7232/23275?usage=10159&threshold=0.10
      Your nearest Ikea location should have display units for you to sample audio quality in store.

  • @evshrug
    @evshrug 2 года назад +3

    You guys can trust your own ears more than RTINGS😉 However, it’s good you shared more opinions I guess.

    • @slickdeals
      @slickdeals  2 года назад +2

      Yeah, we've had critiques in past videos on not being more technical in our reviews so that's why we went with RTINGS for the sound portion. Our TLDR though is that Pete loved them and kept the IKEA SYMFONISK speakers and ended up selling the Sonos One :)

    i have both the 99 dollar and 219 one, and they both have the same internals, just different shells. so that is awesome to see for such a cheap price, the different is form factor and the addition of smart assistant (which most wont use in this anyways)

    • @slickdeals

    is it possible to use the symfonsik without a bulb lamp? (to get the best AND cheep as possible option)

    • @slickdeals
      @slickdeals  2 года назад

      Yes you can, but it would look a little unusual as the bulb port sticks out on top. However, the difference in quality between the three symfonisk models is really negligible. The average person would barely notice the difference, and the Sonos adjustments would even them out anyways. If you want best value, get the book shelf speaker.

    Could you please explain what do you mean under "a separate smart hub for 25$" on 8:20? Is that another Sosnos device?

    • @slickdeals
      @slickdeals  2 года назад +2

      Sure! Basically, the Symfonisk speakers do not have microphones in them, meaning they don't have smart assistants built in. If you want smart home functionality and the ability to play the speakers with voice commands, we recommend getting a smart hub like the Google nest mini or the Echo dot alongside the $99 book shelf speaker. You set up the smart hub and then set up the symfonisk through the Sonos app, and connect them so that you can play music with a voice command to Alexa or Google Assistant.

    Sonos is shit! Who cares about the speakers if their software is garbage? They do not intigrate into a smart setup easily. There are thousands of Bluetooth speakers that work far better than any Sonos.

      Bluetooth doesn't sound anywhere near as good though.

    • @clintstathis
      @clintstathis 2 года назад

      @@hawkboy71 if sound quality is your main concern, then wireless isn't for you. These are supposed to be convenient, and easy to setup. My complaints aren't with the sound quality, it's the proprietary software that is useless. I should just be able to cast music from the apps I already have. Using an app to access other apps just seems pointless.

    • @hawkboy71
      @hawkboy71 2 года назад +3

      @@clintstathis Ummmm yeah okay. Sound quality IS an issue no matter the type of speaker. It's sole purpose is TO MAKE SOUND. When it comes to the convenience of a wireless speaker the Sonos is WAY better sound wise and so can't even imagine how they don't work well for you. Also, I'm not sure what you are talking about in terms of bluetooth "working better"?
      I type this as I am listening to Spotify on my Sonos controlled *gasp*, directly from my Spotify app. Before that? I was listening to my audible book on my Sonos... Yep, directly from the Audible app. No other sounds from my phone getting in the way, no shitty compressed sound. Is the Sonos as good as my Klipsch Rf-7 iii's? No, obviously not. But I don't want those in my kitchen, but I want the best sound I can get that fits on a kitchen counter... and that is a Sonos in a wireless ecosystem which is no more complicated than a much inferior sounding Bluetooth speaker.

    • @clintstathis
      @clintstathis 2 года назад

      @@hawkboy71 explain how to listen to Spotify or RUclips music directly from the app please. My Sonos doesn't come up as an available device. Also I don't need a standalone piece of shit software to connect my Bluetooth speaker to any device. Bluetooth is far easier, there is no arguing that point.
