I got this game as a kid in the summer of 1990. I loved it, and I still have it with my NES to this day. It was the first sandbox game I ever played. I thought it was so cool you could go wherever you wanted exploring buildings and the landscape with no time limit!
You don't have to use all your items during the Doom fight. When you climb onto the truck and pick up the dip cannon, you have unlimited time at the top of the truck. You can stay there an hour, selecting the dip cannon and practicing using it. Doom only gets up once you climb down from the truck.
Frankly, who cares what the game was like? This video has Erin & Mike talking about giant floating carrots, malls, dodgy phone lines and glory holes. That's what makes it a worthwhile watch. 😄
I like my malls like I like my dens,; earth tones, dark brown walls and carpet, red/orange accents, ferns and greenery fake or not, fountains reeking of chlorine filled with coins, Venetian blinds, buttered popcorn smell in the air, abstract and indirect lighting,
Love this stream! So glad you uploaded it! For some reason, this is my favorite game to watch mike play, and with Erin, it gives the playthrough some new life again!
When I recorded with with him I didn't know the game nearly as well as I do here. Back then I was playing the game and telling him about it but in a much sloppier way. I've had a lot of time to understand it better.
@@mikematei yeah he was called the angry Nintendo nerd back then. I owe it all to my curiosity on YT for searching for that game. I rented it years ago and remember being caught by the weasels all the time and it was frustrating for me. 😂
I like this game. I played it when I was a kid but since it is so obscure and hostile, I've never get very far. I started making a hack for this game after I watched the stream. It feels nice to unfold the logics and the mechanics that is concealed in the code. I hope I can find a way to make the game more enjoyable.
I love streams like this but I wish I had been present during the live stream to help out. Such as Dolores always says to search drawers whether or not the specific building has an item and how to effectively use a crowbar. Just face straight up at the door.
You don't have to search every piece of furniture in the rooms. If the room has an item, it will always come out of the first thing you search. You might still have to search multiple rooms though.
@@mikematei Yes, if they tell you to try searching the building you can just search one item in a room and if you don't find it there you can try another room. Really curs down on the searching time. If one person can't help you, try talking to others until someone can. Buildings can have multi0le items too so keep that in mind. Once someone tells you it's empty then you can move on to another building.
Yep, Gametek was gonna do a Price is Right NES game, but in development they concluded it was too hard to make it to a decent level of accuracy/quality. They were also gonna make NES Card Sharks, Pyramid, Super Password, and I think one more? Super Password was fully complete and featured voices, but the show was cancelled before the game could be released. I spent most of the nineties trying to track it down before learning the whole story 😭(yes, I’m a big game show nerd). 🎉
The fact y’all beat this monstrosity in less than 24 hrs is amazing…that music would drive me to mute it eventually….off topic, have you ever played castlevania for the msx Erin?
@@ErinPlaysExtras ok! it’s just messed up having No continues but I think there’s a code or something to get around that but you need the actual system…just curious😅
Lol erins take on this game.... Totally. 100 percent. I just dont get it. And when i play it i dont wanna be playing it anymore lol. I love the IDEA of the game.... But yea Whats really weird is like why do i still own this game? Why do i still put it in the nintendo and try to play it? Answer me that, erin 😂❤
i like your videos alot i think it would be cool if you did a board game episode with erin mike and james that would be a legendary level video for erin mike and the avngs alter ego lol well wishs
The basic problem with this game was that they seem to have figured "Eddie Valiant is a detective, so the game should be about detective work", and then they came up with the most tedious version of what a "detective game" should be. And then they tacked on some terrible combat and enforce the traditional "3 lives and you're out" framework of Nintendo games when it really doesn't add anything here. I can understand why someone might enjoy it, because it has a certain charm of solving cartoon logic puzzles (finding cheese for the rat, etc.) in somewhat of an old Lucas Arts vein, and that set it apart on the NES console, and the Roger Rabbit IP adds some appealing visual elements, but this is a pretty terrible game.
I don't get why this game is apparently so bad? I've watched a few playthroughs of this over the past 2 years, (all of which involve Mike Matei 😆) and I keep thinking this would have been great to have in 1989. The randomisation of where the items and stuff are gives it replay value and it's innovative and quite long for a simple 8-Bit game. You go to Toon Town! Jessica's working in the club, you go in cave(s), You feed a rat! And those poor shoes don't get dumped in toxic waste 🩰 The ONLY part I see that looks awful, is the final boss fight. That part is painful to watch. ☺
Deloris said, "Search the drawers in THE buildingS." "Buildings" is plural. She said THE buildings. Not THIS building. That was a generic, overall piece of advice for the entire game. But you didn't stop to read the actual words on the screen.
This game is a huge mis-advertisement to young kids who were fans of the movie. You would think it would be really fun…but it’s not. It’s just not a fun game.

Thanks for this neat stream Erin!
I don't think Eddie's girlfriend was glitched or lying. She just meant in that you should search drawers in buildings as a general tip.
Gg, Erin and Mike❤

Really? I feel like sometimes the people tell you that there is an item and I've had to search the drawers. If they bother to even tell you anything.
