There's actually 4 car options. Also, if you beat level 33, it just keeps replacing the level 32 trophy. I had no life as a kid.
boy, speedrunner ESSENCE runs in your blood :D
You beat this beast of a game.
Didn't matter anyway after level 33, they go turbo on you and smoke you if you so much as even missed one single power up
As someone who races RC competitely, this game is 100% accurate. We use guns and invincibility and shit.
eins2001 I lol’d
James: "All I do is play with toys cuz I have kids."
Mike: "I play with toys and, I don't have kids...."
I could so see James and Mike playing with retro toys, while James' kids are just sitting there awestruck over the concept of two adult men playing with their toys. LOL
@@LadyCoyKoi Mike looks hung over. That kind of lifestyle will ruin a man.
Fun racing game, definitely influenced Rock N Roll Racing
Definitely influenced RC de Go! as well.
OLAF IS ABOUT TO BLOW!
LET THE CARNAGE BEGIN!!!
HOLY TOLEDO!
@@solid434 snake is in another time zone!
I love how absolutely passionate Mike gets when he plays these games while James is always laid back and smooth.
man, that music takes me back to a simpler, and dare I say it, happier time...
It's Alf. He's back, in pog form.
You traded my soul for pogs? Nooooooo!
Thanks for these over the years guys!
Watching you guys play this had me all tensed up and gritting my teeth. Nintendo games like this we're always good as far as getting immersed and emotionally involved. Good video. Thx
Love, love, LOVE this game!!! Spent many nights as a kid, staying up late on a school night playing this.
"I'd much prefer Ivan "Iron Man" Stewart's Super Off Road" - PatTheNESPunk
Yes another great game!!!
I love the arcade version. The port leaves a bit to be desired.
Had R C Pro Am 2 for my NES in the day!!!!
Played that game over and over again and over again....
One of the best games to play with family and friends back then. I loved the R.C Pro AM games
One of the best games of all time, used to play it all the time back in the day.
AVGN really made me appreciate old school games growing up in a generation that never had a chance to play them because the hottest console was PS1 and very soon the beginning of the PS2. To this day I love old games and really want to preserve the history of them. James sort of set me in this path to look beyond video games as just a toy and love the hardwork of the industry. Thanks James.
Cobra Triangle next? Those NES games by RARE are excellent.
Excellent but extremely hard, all of them: Battletoads (of course), Snake Rattle'n Roll, Ironsword... I never beat any of them, despite being able to beat games like Ghosts'n Goblins. Apparently Rare learnt how to make games beatable during the SNES era
These sounds totally remind me of Cobra Triangle, I even suggested they do it next too. Best era of the NES around these times.
Cobra Triangle is a amazing game! Another good one IMO I think they need to try is Thundercade. Super awesome top down shooter with cool power ups and boss's
Get the shark!!!!
Cobra Triangle was an informal sequel...it's RC Pro-Am with unlimited ammo
"I did not hit her, it's not true!
It's bull bull! I did not hit her!
I did not!
Oh hi, Mike (and James)!"
One of my Top 10 NES games for sure, loved this game and played it mannnnnyyyy times as a kid.
What a blast from the past! Thanks for the nostalgia trip guys!
P.S. I believe that the "patio tables" are aka "roll cages (or roll bars)" ;)
Oh man, this game. Rare had such a close relationship with Nintendo back then, with Nintendo publishing so many of their games. Like Snake Rattle N Roll for instance, anyone remember that one?
Didnt know that was RARE =O
@@CollectionCompletion Yup, that was them!!
I mostly remembered them for Killer Instinct and the Donkey Kong County series.
This reminded me of way back when you guys were trying to get the whole collection together and somehow I happened to have a game you guys were missing RC Pro Am 2. You guys sent me an awesome signed drawing Mike did and Ive still got it. Been a long time since then, time sure does fly. Thanks for the content through all those years guys!
Love this game. I also used to play it a lot when i was a kid. The music is great too. I never beat the game cause after a while, the levels become hard. Such a fun game though. ❤👍
Hey guys I noticed you've covered R.C. Pro-Am 1 and 2. There's another one RARE did this way for the NES called Cobra Triangle.
Its a speed boat game where you can to take multiple paths on certain stages, dodge whirlpools/logs, collect power-ups like in Gradius, blast all kinds of objects like UFOs,
take on challenges like jumping EPIC WATERFALLS, and last but not least the best part of this game fight BOSS creatures like sea serpants/crabs and many more!
I hope you guys play it sometime. It took me 10 years to beat it. I rented it many times growing up and its still one of my favorites today.
Thanks for your time James and Mike and keep up the awesome work! :D
Haha! Picnic table! One of my favorite games, and it’s a roll cage.
You guys should try Biker Mice from Mars on SNES.
Just recently did an episode on this game, explaining how the A.I cheats, and how to counter that. When you hear the whistling sound, be ready to shoot them before they pass you. If you let them pass, it's over.
I discovered that by accident, but that stupid ass car almost always gets away from me whenever that happens
This was a great game. Cobra triangle had the same type of control scheme.
I played the ever living crap out of this game when I was young. All of the sound effects are ingrained in my head! Oh! Battletoads is awesome good sir!
Rare is one of the best developers that Nintendo used to own. It was one of Nintendo’s biggest mistakes to not fully acquire Rare, especially since they were the Pixar of video games.
Loved this game as a kid.
You guys still need to play Werewolf on NES. (So many years of asking) 😔
Great game. I remember getting the third car, but could never last long with it.
The long takes take me back to the old James and Mike, where it was unedited, good times
I played this with my NES Advantage!
That was intense. Nice ep guys. Brought back some good memories.
Wasn't this game already on a James & Mike Monday? Did they really forget?....they also did RC Pro Am 2 with Pat the NES Punk...
My favourite racing game of all time on the SNES plays like this one, 'Rock N Roll Racing.' 👍🏼👍🏼
🤜🏻🤛🏻
I think what may have turned people off from this game, is that you don't have to do anything wrong, and you still won't win.
The opening music to this was great! And I loved the game!! The controls to this game was great. I loved the switch up.
This game is very similar to Rock n’ Roll racing
I played this game at the time is funny as super Mario kart , easy to play and challenging
I think that it's less stylish bunny funnier than rock'n racing roll
RC pro-am 2 was 2 players and that game was even more amazing.
One my favorites .loved this game don't forget to spell nintendo
I remember this game. So many hours playing it. I got to the point of mastery of the truck and SUV. I could hit an oil spot on purpose, spin around, shoot a missile AND hit the truck behind me, and keep on going without crashing.
You should do a video of you playing NES games with weird Game Genie codes.
I think the "shields" are roll cages..
Roll bars, Roll cages, something like that anyway. 🚓 🚦
according to the manuel, they are!
Honestly, I thought the quote under the HANS on James' t-shirt would be "I'll take it under advisement" or something like that
November 11, 2008
A rare day
An absolute classic. R.C. Pro-Am I & II are among my top 10 favorites for NES.
This is like Re-Volt's Granpa :)
_Re-Volt_ was cool, but I liked _Ignition_ more(´∀`)
Loved this game growing up. Played it at a friends house.
Have you guys done Rock 'n' Roll Racing for the SNES? That's a great game.
i need to buy that game
rad racer 1&2
When you restarted the game to hear the music, it sounds like an 8 bit version of the guitar riff to "Blood Brothers", by Papa Roach.
The guys should try the Sega´s Master System version, Rc Grand Prix. Same concept, better game.
O always thought that grand Prix was monotonous. RC pro am 2 was the best option, considering 8-bits racing games with this concept in my opinion
On another note, tons of fond memories of this game with my cousins.
Many controllers were broken.
Yo, when we getting more CD-i (and 3DO) games?? :-D
@CD-i guy Never
Since you're a fan, why not make a video yourself about all the best parts of the consoles?
This is the 2nd racing game I bought after excite bike. Love you guys!
Pogs are back. Retro Kaps have released new sets.
GreyHulk2 in Alf form
Hot damn! Sweet!
Just cause some ass hole made some more don't mean their back
I was a c64 guy back in the day, and my buddy had a NES, and the ONLY game that he had that I wished I'd had on my c64 was R.C. Pro AM......great two player action and great replay ability
Dude everyone knows the yellow car cheats, and only the yellow car. It randomly goes light speed and laps you. Also, getting the letters to upgrade your car is a liability. It only makes the other cars get upgraded too, increasing your likelihood of losing.
dan fred it’s not random. It’s after you shoot the other cars enough times.
My friend used to say hes pulling a speedy fred.
I came here to say exactly this. Even with the “all cars go crazy” Game Genie code, where all the cars just drive in tiny circles so you can win, it would override the genie and shoot ahead at 1000mph. F that yellow car.
Why do game devs do that?!
@@jamesrussell2936 Punishment for using too many weapons
I grew up with this one too, even my mother loved it.
This isn't micro machines?!
2:35 Battletoads is the best NES game man!
Nice video
Heck ....yeah its was crazy controls but an awesome game
When I was a kid, I remember having trouble with the controls because I thought the car moved in the direction you pressed on the directional pad. Then I learned that the left and right directions are relative to the car (I hope I made sense) and this game eventually became one of my favorite NES games!
It's better on Sega
Music is better too
This is one of my favorite games
Wow, you're not wrong.. I played this on NES as a kid, loved it.. Never knew there was a better version of it on Sega until now.
@@bliglum Just finding out about this now? I'm 37 years old for fucks sake!!! LOL
They brought it to Sega Genesis, they call it Championship PRO-AM.
Just want to say these kind of videos always put a smile on my face! Good to see you guys just hanging out playing some classic games. And make me feel less lonely as I don't really have any friends to do this kind of stuff with . Thanks !
This , super Sprint and iron man Stewart racing
rad racer 1&2
oh RC pro am. one of my absolute favorites. was so shocked to learn it had a sequel that had multiplayer.
Yo guys, do rock n roll racers, its like an upgraded version of this game, legit same sorta stuff just with aliens and rock n roll XD
Didn't they do that a while back? I might be wrong
At 6:50 James reminds of the video clips of him as a kid. "it's too hard. I will lose if I do the thing I need to do to win the game."
So stressful to watch lol
Discovered this game by 'accident' as a kid, such an unexpected GOOD GAME!
It makes you work to get items to attack with, and if you win u can upgrade your car so u can have an advantage for future rounds - which made it so much fun to play!
Made by Rare before they were famous.
Please will you pleas play The Goonies 2! Since on of your videos Mike and you talked about playing The Goonies 2
They've already have. It would be in their video archive.
16:04 James sounding immensely enthused
Rare actually did a lot of garbage on the nes. This their best effort on the console.
Taboo is a great game!
R.C. Pro-Am is a good game and all but Battletoads is immensely better. They made plenty of good games on the nes actually, but they also made some garbage. Although when you make over 30 games in 2 years that is to be expected.
I loved this game back then it was amazing.
hello random fellow scrolling through the comments have a beautiful day
thx man
You guys already played this game for James & Mike Mondays, but good video anyway.
...
Now they gotta do Rock'n'roll racing
I remember this fondly too. When I was a small boy, I had a Nintendo but only had one game for it. I had an older cousin that owned a bunch of games and this was one of them. I played the hell out of this and superman and soloman key.
One of my favorite NES games. Glad you guys played it.
I love Mike’s enthusiasm for the music.
what you mean BattleToads is so close to being awesome?! IT IS fucking AWESOME! Most of the Rare games were really good in the NES/SNES days I think, music in those always kicked ass!
I remember begging for this as a kid. Still a fun game to this day.
NICE! Loved this game as a kid. Underrated NES game. Great video as always James and Mike.
One of my favorite NES games!
Met James over the weekend, great guy nice to have met him
Thank you David Wise (the composer most famously known for DKC series) for making this kickass soundtrack.
Wait, the Rocketeer? Didn't they do an episode on that already?
One of my favorite games when I was little. Lots of memories playing this with my Dad. Also that theme roockkkkssssss
This game was kind of related to Cobra Triangle on the NES. Both made by Rare. This game was a whole lot more popular for some reason though. I owned Cobra Triangle as a kid. Very similar in the sense that the levels in Cobra Triangle were about 80% water corridors that you traveled down that were similar to the tracks in this game. You were also constantly shooting opponents with weapons in Cobra Triangle. Like Mike mentioned in this video, If you don't get all the upgrades, you aren't going to beat the game. I remember there was a point in Cobra Triangle that if you didn't have enough speed power ups, you couldn't go fast enough to hit certain ramps and clear some land gaps. If you weren't upgraded enough, it was game over! I would love to see Mike cover Cobra Triangle!
This game reminds me of Rock N' Roll Racing for the Sega Mega Drive, that game was badass!
Mega drive has a version of RC PRO AM
I just played super off road in arcade other day.....man was that a throwback. Love that game
When I was in middle school in the 80's I traded a friend my Donkey Kong Jr. for this game. He said he didn't like it but I loved it. Became one my favorites. The trick I had to playing it well was to listen to fast punk music on my walkman. I use to play the same cassette of Minor Threat "Out of step" over and over while playing this.
I never played this game but I recognise some of the sound effects and pieces of the music since I played Wizards and Warriors a lot as a kid...I loved that game so much.
Oh man. This and Super Off Road were some of my favorites. I blew so much money on Super Off Road at the arcade.
Great memories playing this as a kid in the late 80's
OMG, I love this game! Alot of Memories of me and my buds playing this back in the day. GREAT VID U GUYS!
This reminds me of Super Sprint on the Atari ST... I loved that game!
P.s. this looks like a a lot of fun but hard as hell.
Anyone remember Re-Volt and Rollcage from the late 90s? They were superb.
Tons of hours playing this game as a kid. Memories
I picked this game up for 2$ at a garage sale a few years ago, definitely worth it!
