I need a bit of help, I bought this amp on sweetwater and I'm from Philippines. Some pathfinders have 110v on them but mine has 120v. I'm just a little confused on what transformer I should buy.
I use to have one of these, great little amp - if it had a built in reverb it'd be pretty much perfect. Surprising how well this cheap solid-state amp handles effects
I have a Vox AC30CC2 with built-in reverb and tremolo, but it doesn't lend itself to late-night noodling with a sleeping family. I found this amp to be a great solution. I did the mods recommended by Landon--removed the limiter diode and replaced the stock speaker with an eight-inch one. It is plenty loud now. I run an array of pedals into it, and it sounds great. I use the Danelectro Spring King Reverb pedal with this, and it approximates my AC30CC2 rather well.

There are people who understand that the Pathfinder 10 is AT LEAST the second-best amp under $100 (I'd take an argument for the Monoprice Stage Right 5W/108 tube amp being slightly better, but it's also only under $100 if you exclude sales tax), and people who are wrong.
Even in their stock form these amps are one that are useful as a studio tool even after you grow into bigger better amps. Sometimes a small little combo is what you want/need for certain tracks.
A really well-done demo. It's really true that the Pathfinders seem to take pedals better than most other smallish SS amps. I've tried small Fender, Orange, and Blackstar SS amps with pedals - and the Pathfinder 10 really does work better with them, IMO.

Funnily enough, I just bought one of these for late night headphone playing, and at $110au I was really surprised at how good the clean tone is and how she takes pedals. I'm totally sold with this baby even though it would be a little easier with Bluetooth and aux-in but for the $$ you get what you get and I'm happy with it.
The tube screamer andor Wah sound great with it imo. (Sounded a bit like "Mysterious Ways" with both). The Muff was kind of muddy and noisy though...concerns me a bit, I want to put Vertex Dynamic Distortion in front of I get it, that's a blend of a TS8 circuit and a germanium fuzz faded together based on pick dynamics....so I wonder if a more moderate fuzz effect than that massive Muff sound would have blended better...

Good review , Thanks! I just bought one of these to run in stereo with my epi valve jr. It really adds top end " sparkle" that the epi is sorely lacking in. Odd though that when the 10 watt vox is set to Max volume I can't turn up my 5 watt valve junior past 1/4 way or it totally drowns out the vox! Lol
Nice vid. Had a 15r. Like a dumass i sold it when moving to an apt (still have 5 amps). I miss it all the time. Also have a Holy Stain multi effect box. Bought it for the pitch shift bit but also dug the Fuzz setting. Instant early Randy Hansen with a s type. I had a red script Big Muff bought new in '75. I never liked anything after that.

Hey Landen can I ask you a basic question? I have the Vbm1 and a custom cabinet I made for the chassis, is the chassis the same size on the pathfinder 10 vs the Vbm1? I want to take the chassis out of the pathfinder 10 and drop it into the custom cabinet I made for the VBM1
I bought the Pathfinder because it sounds great, packs into luggage easy and is really loud and quality sounding for a small amp! And as you can see from this video, it takes pedals well!
Would you recommend this over the vox mini 5? Do you think if i get the mini 5 i will need to buy separate pedals too? And how well do they go with it,
Maybe you can help me with this. When I have the Pathfinder "Overdrive" button on - I hear a pretty loud buzz from the amp speaker when nothing is being played. Volume is set to ~10 o'clock - Gain is set to 12 o'clock. Treble and bass @ 12 o'clock too. Is this normal? The guitar cable I'm using is new, cheap but seems to be decent (ADM 10'). I'm using a cheap Epiphone Les Paul. Thanks.
With the guitar and cable (both ends) unplugged from the amp there is no buzz. With just the cable plugged into the amp and the other end loose, there is a loud buzz/hum.

This might be a silly question bUt do you need a special type of cord to plug a pedal in or do you just use the same type of cord that you plug in from your guitar into your amp?
@@caitlin5197 it depends on what pedal you want to use. For "normal" pedals you simply plug them into the front input where you usually plug the guitar, then you plug your guitar into the pedal and you are done. For "ambient" pedals (chorus, flanger, delay, echo...) it's advised to use them into an fx loop, which is not present in every amp, but I don't know if you can plug them anyway in the front, probably yes.
I own a Pathfinder exactly for that. But honestly, the overdrive is really not good. For my taste actually unusable. But as Lando showed here, it takes pedals quite well. I usually use a king of blues, sweat cream and tiny spring from ToneCity
Actually, the clean channel cranked, has a sweeter sounding overdrive than the actual overdrive(typical transistor can ‘o bees sounding) channel. If you want really heavy distortion tho, you will need a pedal.
Your Dry Blazer no worries. It’s tough, I’d say the pathfinder has better low end and tone, but the mini 3 is loaded with fx. It depends what you want to play I guess :)

@@Felipe_Silvva hey there! the boss katana has so many built in FX, I probably wouldn't use pedals on it. The Katana is a better amp overall though, so I would say it is better with pedals.

ya reverb would be great. I didnt really like the built in overdrive channel, but I haven't played with it too much yet.

My favorite practice amp. Looks like a scale model AC-15, and when dialed in correctly, sounds a lot like it too.

Is a great amp, the overdrive is not but just put a booster and you will be fine
When I press the overdrive button I get a lot of noise while not playing anything. Is that normal or there is something wrong with my amp?

Coach cleats I found the red knobs on Amazon. Sorry I can't recall the size of the pot shafts, I did the mod a few months ago.

Do you need something loud or small? The Fly3 is super small and portable. The Pathfinder is small and loud! But needs a power cable.

they are very different. the Mini 5 wouldn't need pedals because of all the built in fx. depends what you need. 😊👍

The big muff was a mistake. There's better distortion or fuzz that can go into the pathfinder.

It's a headphone/line out so I'm sure if it will work with all mixers. hopefully someone else can answer

The Orange Crush 35 is significantly better than the Vox Pathfinder 10. Better clean and drive channels.

The reverb killed your tone. Turn it off when testing pedals
