  • If Charlotte fall in love with a prospect, they might consider trading up ahead of San Antonio and Detroit. The Rockets could be a willing trade partner, as rumors swirl they are open to moving back.

As a rockets fan I don’t think they do this. We don’t have any rotation minutes for Martin. And Jock contract is not guaranteed. Plus could probably get more from other teams looking to trade up.

I like Cody Martin when he's on the floor, but he seldom is. I'd do this in a heartbeat if I'm Charlotte. I don't think Houston will go for it though. Way too much injury risk with Martin. I just don't think he has much value because of that.

Cody Martin > Stephon Castle (It would be pretty foolish to TRADE UP for a wing player who has never shown that he's a shooter. You should only move up if you can get Risacher at #3.)

In some ways a bad draft makes trade ups more likely.
      1) The asking price is lower
      2) Teams have more varied valuations, so who might be #1 on someone’s board is 6th on another’s, so swapping picks makes both happy.

@@CharlotteHornetsOnSI Might be true... but as a Hornets fan trading up hasnt done us any favors. Id want to gain more assets rather than trade away any. Follow that OKC Blueprint.

@@CharlotteHornetsOnSI Indeed. I trust their scouting tho. OKC has had a system in place for many years with Presti at the helm. They have a good track record... Hornets, not so much. Charlotte has a new Coach and GM. They need to prove they can let the draft come to them before trading away any assets.

You can't say follow the OKC blueprint and then say we can't because of our scouting. It's one or the other!
