It started when I realized How I Became the Sea was about his musical career, and the 2nd verse of that song has always made me afraid that he doesn't actually enjoy what he does, despite how much us fans enjoy what he creates. A few other commenters have touched on this, so I'll reiterate whats been said - I feel like this song has a hint of regret behind it. The water bottle says 2008, and the lyrics mention Christmas. Well, Adam signed on with Universal in February 2009, and even the Wikipedia article on Owl City mentions some disagreements between the studio and Adam. "I ain't a spin doctor, but thanks for the offer" - If he knew what he knows now, would he have turned down the contract deal? I've heard of bands in the past making terrible albums simply to get out of their contract... I wonder what the terms of Adam's contract are, and, again, if he legitimately enjoys his work. Even Adam has said in the past that a lot of Owl City is depressing lyrics over uplifted chords. I can't help but feel like there's more here than I picked up on my first listen through. Ah, but I didn't come here to over-analyze fun songs. I'm just happy to hear some more Owl City! And the autobiographical spin on this album is so incredibly fascinating. It brings to mind how Adam described Port Blue: "If by chance you ever feel as though you’ve come to know these songs, please consider yourself a friend because in a manner of speaking, you know me."
so hyped! i love the old Owl CIty feel too! of course some of my favorite songs by you happen to be in the newer albums The Midsummer Station (Embers) and The Mobile Orchestra (Bird With a Broken WIng) and i love it when you experiment with different things. Adam just keep doing what you are doing and follow your dreams and make the music that want to make and you cant go wrong. you always have a loyal fan and supporter in me. im so excited for this next album, i love stories and telling your story seems to be what you are aiming to do.

Adam Father God is using your talents that He has given you to eternally bless my autistic daughter. I can't explain into words how your talents have been a savings grace for my precious daughter. Jesus is the Savings Grace working through you His light in you and through you. When nothing else could your music speaks to her in a profound way that is life changing for her. And she's been in the hospital for over a year now and we dance to your songs during our visits. It's a beautiful time. I listen and love your music too. The best music I've ever heard I have to say. I listen to and from work and at home. I think I know most of lyrics now. The videos are always beautiful as well that accompany the song on YT. and many have lyrics sothis really helps to sing along with our daughter. It's amazing because our daughter knows about every sing and remembers lyrics. And so this past year she got sick and was struggling some with lyrics so she would Humm and never miss a beat. So the videos with lyrics really help her sing again. Honestly looking back I don't know how we would've done it without your music singing and dancing with our daughter. She doesn't really speak anymore after her setback but she can sing your songs it's amazing therapy. Assuredly a blessing from FATHER God. Hallelujah!
