    This was great. I learned about a yarn that I now want to try and I learned how to make a bolster pillow. This was much better than learning from a pattern because you learn the tips and tricks along the way. Thanks Jennifer ❤️

    Talking about thick furry/fuzzy yarn
    right after Lion brand came out with their faux fur line- I grabbed 2 or 3 skeins of white and proceeded to make the most glorious white Cossack style winter hat ever seen . Women were constantly stopping me and asking about it - so yeah bigger hook and don’t stress the small stuff when working with thick furry / fuzzy yarn cuz it works up beautifully every time.

    Jennifer, Thank you for this lovely video. This yarn is very beautiful. I find it easier to use stitch markers myself so I know where each row starts/ends. And I just absolutely love how you are just being yourself and you video yourself making mistakes just like the rest of us "normal" everyday crocheter's do. I love how calming your voice is too. I can't wait for your next video to come out. xoxoxo.

  • @oakstrong1
    @oakstrong1 3 года назад

    FANTASTIC! I have always struggled with magic ring: the way most people show it is over-complicated and awkward. I never understood the difference between standard slip knot either, I mean it also closes tight the center hole.
    I'm also glad about you showing how the yarn looks worked out. I always appreciate people showing how easy a yarn is to work with and how easy or difficult it is to undo. A small swatch is what I would expect but surprisingly few youtubers do that.
    Thanks also for the tip of using larger than the recommended hook size. Normally, I go for *smaller* hook because I like dense fabric, but I used the recommended size with poodle yarn (curly teddy bear fur) and still couldn't get on with it. It is impossible to frog as well, it just snaps from the slightest tug, so now I have only half of the skein left. I could barely make a hat (not good for that as it has no stretch at all) with a circular loom, which must be the easiest thing! But I am determined to overcome it - your encouragement makes me want to drop my blanket and my homework (already behind deadline) and have a go straight away! But with even bigger hook.
    Last, but not least, thank you for the encouragement, not worrying about mistakes. U winged it quite a few times when making my first baby blanket but it is surprising how often mistakes just blend in unless you are looking for them - who would do that except someone neurotic and nasty? Their opinions are not worth listening anyway!

    My MIL bought a similar yarn (not premier) for me to make something for her. I kept trying to start some kind of project and never got far as it was frustrating. After watching you last night, I had the confidence and patience to realise that with this yarn I didn't need to be precise. It'll work out and no one can see the mistakes!

    I love working in fluffy jumbo yarn. It's instant gratification. Glad to see you doing crochet by touch. That's totally what I do & I figured I was just cheating somehow. Don't care, but it's nice to feel legit. I love the pantyhose trick! That would work with critters too. Also makes it feasible to wash them without it all falling to bits or growing "body hair".

      Oh wonderful lady, please don't apologise for anything which was necessary. We had not very much 50 years ago and most baby stuff was passed down from family and friends (our version of a thrift store 😆). To this day i have had wonderful bargains from our Charity shops (thrift stores). Pity they have all been closed due to the pandemic I miss my rummaging for useful things and clothing. Great for china and winter clothing. It all washes so no problems. Well done for truly being yourself. Love to all xxx

    Hi Jennifer, Love the pillow. I made a pillow that size also but made a tube and shells on each end and made 2 ties and put a pillow in it and tied the ends closed so I can wash the cover. I guess the whole pillow can be washed as the fiberfill is washable also.... thanks for showing us this yarn. Have a good day and stay safe. 💜

    This reminds me of the Spinella that came in a Mary Maxim kit...October maybe? I found it so much easier to use than say pipsqueak, because if the thread that is holding the fur on. I could almost always see the stitches because of the thread that ran down the middle. It was also easier to feel the stitches.Having said that, it was also super forgiving. It also stretched like crazy so the amigurumi I made was so much bigger than I thought it would be - but there’s nothing wrong with an amigurumi or a pillow to bed super soft and squishy. I would also venture to say it’s a lot easier than homespun. But I h.a.t.e. boucle with a passion.

    Jennifer, I decided to try using Bernat Blanket color North Sea with a 5.50mm hook instead since I can't get out to the store to buy any of this yarn right now. I wanted to make some of these pillows for my son's birthday that is coming up which in on Valentine's Day. And since I'll be coming home from the hospital from having a major surgery done the day before his birthday, I wanted to get something made up for him ahead of time. Do you think that I should still use a nylon for the stuffing or should I just stuff it as is and just crochet around it? I'm looking for your advise as to what to do before going any further with completing this project dear.

    • @CinnamonStitches
      @CinnamonStitches  3 года назад +1

      I didn't use a nylon, its all a matter of how loose your stitches are and if you can see the stuffing.
