I saw Jim Morrison & The Doors perform "The End" during an encore after their concert at the Long Beach Arena in January or February 1970. Morrison actually was really great for this concert and put on a great show, unlike some of his performances where he would recite his poetry instead of singing (he did that during a concert we saw in 1969 and the crowd was not happy). After a great concert the crowd yelled for an encore and The Doors came back performed for another 2 hours. Great concert, great times. I remember when they were just the house band at The London Fog and at The Whiskey A-Go-Go on the Sunset Strip back in 1965 and 1966. I'm 73 now and I still enjoy listening to all their albums.
We used to cruise Laurel Canyon back in the late 60's and found out where Morrison and his girlfriend Pamela lived. It was on the side of the hill above the Canyon Country Store. We also knew where David Crosby, Joni Mitchell, Cass Elliot (her original small house), Mickey Dolenze of The Monkees, Frank Zappa, Roger McGuinn of The Byrds, Ray Mazarek & Robby Kreiger of The Doors, Arthur Lee of Love lived and a few more that I can't even remember. I can still picture the small narrow winding roads up in the canyon. I never got to go to The Whiskey back then. You had to be 21 to get in but we did go the Kaleidoscope on Sunset Blvd. to see Canned Heat and Vanilla Fudge in 1968 after I turned 18. I got to see Linda Ronstadt and Roger McGuinn at The Roxy Theater in 1973 on Halloween Night. Great memories!!
