Good vid Jesse, I like the design of that tank with those support shafts thru the center. In Ct you cannot touch a septic system without a license, I don't even quote the repairs here.
In northern On. you are not allowed to bury the man holes, like you said you need to install risers so the cap is level with the ground. I thought that it would freeze but it generates enough heat to keep it from freezing. thanks for sharing.
Good job Jesse ,,,,,,,,,,,nice area Rhinebeck NY I had a chance to fly into the airfield there many years ago when I was a student pilot. Great Video, have to ask how often does the home owner have a vacuum truck pump out the Septic Tank ? We have the local vacuum truck company every two to three years in to pump out our Septic Tank that way no solids get into the leach field
So the holes in the tank wall allow "other fluids" to go to the outlet side. But does poop actually go to the other side as well? I thought solids were supposed to stay on the inlet side. Old concrete tanks had a higher elevation so only fluids went to the other side. I mean I saw videos of these tanks almost filled to the top with water on installation. So what keeps floating solid waste from just floating through those holes to the other side?
Great video. Best happy client I've seeing, so happy to help! If possible use white color in the fonts when writing with green or brown background. Try to use white or black colors to write, in this case since the background is light but not as white background, I think white letters will be better legible because of the dark shadows this although light in background has. If it were lighter then I would recommend you to write in black. That's up to min. 9:19. Up to min. 9:32 I don't do excavations frequently but, when I do, as with most things I do, I pass the requirements. Lets say you have to dig 6', if I can, I dig 6.5', that way those #1, 2 or bigger stones wont bother me, then leveling would be easier on the gravel. What do you think? Can you go a little lower or are the inspectors extremely restrictive in NY so if you have to dig certain depth you have to be strictly on that measure?
Awesome video!! I'm picking up a 750 gallon tank from their NY location at the end of the month. How deed was this under the top of the ground? I ordered a 24" and 6" riser so I'll have some flexibility but am planning on stacking them so the tank will be about 30" under the top.
That's a norwesco low pro tank. In the installation instructions and videos, they require 6-12" sand base and those support columns be filled with sand and tamped. I know it adds time but it's cheap insurance. Happy digging
It says sand or flowable backfill, this stuff was very flowable and very little rocks, if this job was closer to my house I would have got some sand, but I was out of my element here helping a friend, so we just picked the few rocks out and this dirt worked well
Those rotomolded tanks are surprisingly light for their size, but being close to the surface, will not frost affect the contents? Thank you for sharing this video.
Jesse, can you tell me what is the difference between the concrete tank and the plastic tank ? Other than the obvious lol. Is the plastic just better or do they still make concrete tanks, and it’s just personal preference ? Thanks again for sharing your videos sir, really enjoying them.
I personally always try to go with the poly. Is it difficult to dig old concrete tank out? Or just bury? I have a 1,000 gallon concrete tank and maybe need to do this in future. Does it require inspection before covering it up, or could it be done one time after completion?
People put a whole new septic system in there. The tank looked good still all they needed to do is add on to their leach line, like bigger infiltrators.
Do you have to permit that job with the county environmental health department? To decommission the old tank do you first need to pump it, then collapse and back-fill?
Of course he didn’t do any of that. He’s going to just abandon the tank and leave as is so that the next tenant can run into problems 30 years from now.
When I'm doing a tank, I like to use the loader when I can get it into position. It's much faster and gives me level grade much sooner without all the use of the ignorant stick you got in your hands (shovel). It will never rot away like a concrete tank can do. But for under a driveway it is not a great idea. The pipes can run under the driveway but the tank shouldnt
0:49 looks like there is a kinck in the tank at the top left of the right whole - already before you got it off the trailer :o maybe it looks more severe on camera idk
Jesse nice job, if I can give you a few tips that will save you a huge problem one day,, 1st, invest in an 18" plate compactor, you can buy one from a rental shop for a good price, you will most likely have to give it a little TLC such as a carb cleaning and rebuild, new rubber mounts, if it is not in your budget, rent one for jobs like this, sure your bucket packs the ground a bit, but were you lay your pipes, and the back fill you need to have 100% compaction, and the bucket know mater how much you tamp it, you will not get 100%, ad in time pipes will drop and the tank will move. most important, before back filling these plastic tanks, fill the tank at least 1.3rd full of water or more, then start back filling and compacting in 6" lift, keep letting the tank fill, one day you will get a heavy rain days if not weeks later and if the home owner didn't use the tank much, a heavy rain will pop them plastic tanks right out of the ground, it will not hurt the system with clean water in it, dump a few cans of yeast into the tank to get it working right out the gate. make sure it is compacted tight to the tank, and out to the walls of your hole... I learned the hard way, with 3 popped tanks in one week years ago, the tanks only had about 5" of water in them, and we got 4" of rain over nigh. the customers woke up to there tanks, sitting on top of the ground,, and what a muddy mess to do it all over again, I ended up digging all the mud out and haling it away, and trucking dry dirt back in, if the tank is not compacted really good, and water is in the tank and a heavy rain, the tank will move, and roll a little to a lot.. compact the tank bed really good before setting the tank, strange things happen, unlike concrete tank.. and your left scratching your head, and easy money just turned into the hardest money you ever made,, a little extra goes a long way,, Have a great digging day.. leave the tank fillin over night,,
I actually have a fairly new compactor, bought it brand new about 4 years ago, I usually do quite a bit of concrete work so it was a must. But for this job I just made sure I really tamped underneath the pipes the best I could, and the sides of the tank can afford a little settling as I will be back and can fill in the settling before final grade. Also, I have used tanks that needed to be filled with water before backfilling before, but for these ones there is no requirement, unless there is a high water table and your expecting rain right after. This one was put into service as soon as we were done with lots of water that night, plus the ground was very drainable so the water was going seep right through and keep going. But yes I know what your saying, and I probably should have explained these things for other people to learn. I have seen tanks pop out too, and I got to learn from that instead of it happening to me. You do always have some good advise, thanks for that.
Yes you are right If there are large boulders on property they’re great to help keep the tank in place I know, heavy rain popped mine out Was lucky, company came back filled it 1/3 and added this huge boulder as an added weight Never had a problem since
Its a nice machine. The 35d should be even better. I had alot of problems with mine because of neglect on the prior owners part, but I cant blame it on john deere. They have a wider stance then even most cats, so I like them
@@jmuller86 Thanks for responding I ended up picking up the 35D. I definitely like it so far. Has a lot of digging power for a 35. I like the cab tilt option makes it easier to work on. there is an existing drain field in this video, but then I also upgraded it in my newer video (projects from 2019)
0:49 looks like there is a kinck in the tank at the top left of the right whole - already before you got it off the trailer :o maybe it looks more severe on camera idk
Why did you not install that filter you showed at the beginning? You left it on top of the ground and then carried it away.
I installed the filter, must have been something else you were seeing. I always put the filters in
Whats the name of the sensor used in min 9?
how much did this cost to install
Yes you are right
If there are large boulders on property they’re great to help keep the tank in place
I know, heavy rain popped mine out
Was lucky, company came back filled it 1/3 and added this huge boulder as an added weight
Never had a problem since
not so sure I would lift the tank that way , might deform the edges of the fitting attachment points.
Where can you buy these at
How long before it needs to be pumped out ,5,10 years
The filter goes between the tank and drain field?
yes, right inside of the outlet in the tank, with the manhole directly over for checking it
Great video and work ! Where's the old tank, did I miss you taking it out somehow ? lol
we left it in and abandoned it
@@jmuller86, Thanks !
I figured it was abandoned, I was about to ask when I saw this post
The land of leafy trees and rocky soil.
Upper NY State
How do you anchor the tank so it doesn't float up because of ground water?
fill it with water as you are back filling
Very cool
How do you like your John Deere 35? I'm looking at a 35D right now. How many hours are on yours and would you recommend one?
Its a nice machine. The 35d should be even better. I had alot of problems with mine because of neglect on the prior owners part, but I cant blame it on john deere. They have a wider stance then even most cats, so I like them
@@jmuller86 Thanks for responding I ended up picking up the 35D. I definitely like it so far. Has a lot of digging power for a 35. I like the cab tilt option makes it easier to work on. Are you running Hitachi hydraulic fluid in yours? I'm looking to do a service and I see Hitachi zinc free fluid is highly recommended.
What’s the name of the song?
Thanks :)
What's the difference between plastic and concrete? Is it just the durability?
Ease of installation. Plastic tanks can be set with an excavator where cement tanks can’t, unless you have a really big excavator I guess
Can i ask how much does this system cost
Probably last longer than the concrete ones and a whole lot cheaper
I dont know about your area but in mine all man made materials need to come out,, the old septic tank...
What is the minimum distance from a house that a septic tank can be installed ? In the UK, the regulation says not less than 7 metres from a dwelling house
10 ft here
@@jmuller86 Thanks Jesse.
But how to take it out ne day that's the question? I need to take mine out but not to damaged it so it's tricki . There is no hook and can't put the rope down under....
Snyder tank that 1500G cost now 2700 +tax how much d you pay 3 years ago ?
Jesse nice video,,,, thanks for all your information and a nice job take care be safe JUNKMANDO
