As far as handheld "sequels" go, this really went above and beyond what the original NES title did. I really wish Konami would make more silly games like these.
I had a Nintendo Game Boy when I was a kid and I loved it. But only now as an adult am I truly aware of how awesome the system was. Am I the only one that wishes the Nintendo 3DS eStore would release this game?
Omg this game is amust have! Perfect gameplay, well balanced difficulty, good graphism, good sounds and powers and most of all: fun all the way! Plus: I like the music a lot. :3
The Kid Dracula games follow a young Alucard who likes causing mischief but ends up getting on the bad side of a dimension traveling demon known as Galamoth. Galamoth swears to destroy Alucard, and by extension Dracula, at any cost and that is basically the plot of the Kid Dracula games. Galamoth later appears in Symphony of the Night, in the alternate dimension version of Dracula's castle (the upside-down castle), waiting to get revenge on Alucard for his previous defeats during the Kid Dracula games. Later in Castlevania Judgment, Galamoth, still salty about his inability to kill Alucard or Dracula, sends his lackey, Witchi Wench (also known as the Time Reaper), back in time to assassinate Dracula.
This could have easily been released as a sequel to the original NES version. They expanded on the gameplay/cinematics so much. I would call this the definitive version of Kid Dracula.
@CypressDahlia (OP) This IS a sequel. Remember how they keep talking about how Kid defeated Garamoth a previous time, and how Kid forgot a bunch of magic spells? All of that is calling back to the NES game.
It's funny how I realise this is a game full of cutesy, it was the kind of game I played while childhood. Nowadays, games like gears of wars are full of violence like never suggested before ! Its the new common looking of what a video is. That's why a like when I watch a video game like Kid Dracula, the pure innocence :)
The adventures of Dracula before he became the count. Look how adorable he was! Then he had a beautiful wife and a son - Alucard, was born. After that.. we must know.
@MaffewVsCapcom The theme in level 2 is actually based on a classical piece of music known as "Golliwog's CakeWalk". It was also used on the game "MouseTrap" for the Atari ST...I presume that's what Baximus is speaking of. Anyways...this is a wonderful game. It's a shame a gem like this is so rare...one of the few games I had to emulate due to not being able to afford it (and, being 15 years old, having an overprotective mother that would kill her son for spending 50 bucks on "old crap".) :(
This is so awesome! I cant believe I never heard of this game since they said it was released in the U.S. back in 1993? And I had the very 1st Gameboy too.
We'll never know. It's a bit confusing how this fits into Castlevania proper, but "Garamoth" as he's known here, he shows up in Symphony Of The Night, Aria Of Sorrow, and is mentioned in Judgment.
Level 1: Dracula's Castle Level 2: The Forest Level 3: The Roller Coaster Level 4: The Flying Ship Level 5: The Sky Elevator Level 6: The Magma Road Level 7: The Cave Level 8(Finale): Garamoth's Palace
Konami is so good at clusterfxxk parody games using their own original characters, first Wai Wai World, then Kid Dracula and Parodius. If companies like M2 can make a compilation of these games, I would like to buy it
Bloodreign1 indeed it has gone up a steep price. However if you like this game, I can suggest some good alternatives on the the gameboy that are affordable, such as Hammerin Harry the Japanese version is very cheap. As well as the the hidden gem known as Sumo fighter, the Japanese version is very cheap. So please grab them now before they go up in price in the next couple of years 😊lol. Take care and have a great day.
Well that sucks at this game is now out of reach.. it has more than doubled, nearly tripled in price over the last few months.. because of IDIOTS who are willing to pay $200-300 for it. Sure wish I had gotten for less than a hundred when I had the chance just a few months back.. now I will never own it because prices for something like this just don't go back down.
I love how he does that little "Dracula Turn" with his cape at the end of every scene! Too cute!! 😅
As far as handheld "sequels" go, this really went above and beyond what the original NES title did.
I really wish Konami would make more silly games like these.
He makes his enemies cry, that's so charming.
Very cute & funny
I had a Nintendo Game Boy when I was a kid and I loved it. But only now as an adult am I truly aware of how awesome the system was. Am I the only one that wishes the Nintendo 3DS eStore would release this game?
matt fahringer Gee thanks.
@detroit retro gamer drg313 this game sells for a lot more than $30
You know i haven't laughed when playing a video game for a while now. But this game made me.
This is awfully cheerful and cute for a CV game. :3
I wanna play it.
bizotically_yours83 Play something this cute, then immediately go watch the Castlevania anime. Shock to the system. Lol
Omg this game is amust have! Perfect gameplay, well balanced difficulty, good graphism, good sounds and powers and most of all: fun all the way! Plus: I like the music a lot. :3
Now I remember. I DID beat this game, after all. I just remembered the ridiculous number of times I got stuck as a kid. As in: Every. Single. Level.

It has a lot more content, yeah.
It is a sequel...

OMG Jason Vorhees as a boss!? Ok now I have to play this game.
The shotgun was a bit much though.
Its not jason
@@legendredux1291 Please don't take away or illusions! 😞 11:30
@@edwardgaines6561 isnt it the splatter house guy not jason?
@@legendredux1291 No, Jason Voorhees inspired that game's design too. Jason predates all this in the early 80s!
"Go Go at the Castle" -- I'd like to hear a minor-key version, which would make it truer to "Beginning" from _Castlevania III_.
That Jason boss threw me for a loop. I thought the battle was over . He came back out with a shotgun...ROTFL
First time I have played this game was in 1994.
Best game ever
Wow this game looks fun. Def downloading it.
lol emulation is life
I own the game.
I had this when it 1st came out....soo fucking cool still to this day.
THIS IS A CASTLEVANIA GAME.
matt fahringer I know.
Harley365 but that's what it is. a spinoff castlevania game
Harley365 That's like saying a Mario spinoff game isn't a Mario game.
Harley365 do you not understand what a spinoff is?
@@Mr1987Joe
Garamoth would show up in Symphony Of The Night and is the unfought Bigger Bad of Judgment.
That first boss battle had me giggling like crazy.
I love the remix of "Beginning" in the first stage. :D I sucked at this game as a kid, so it's one of the only stages I got to play. :P
One of the best memories of my youth 😊

Super Smash Bros Ultimate!
man what if he was playable? GAH SO COOL THO.
he appears
PK FIRE! PK FIRE! PK FIRE!!
This game is a gem
The way the Halloween spirits cry in the game is so cute.
One of my favorite games by far on the OG Gameboy
I love the tree stage music
hell yeah!
***** When I saw the words "Mouse Trap" I assumed you were referring to the 1981 Exidy arcade game?
2:55 Oh gosh, it's the clock tower from Castlevania III!
I love the tree stage's music so catchy 9:20
is this the young alucard
I remember being able to get the star 3 times in a row, by selecting the right moment to start the coin wheel.
The adventures of Dracula before he became the count. Look how adorable he was! Then he had a beautiful wife and a son - Alucard, was born. After that.. we must know.
Love how the music is a goofy version of Castlevania 2.
I did fan art of this character twice
I seen it before already
Is this a sequel to The famicom game?
Part sequel, part port.
(knowledgeably) In Kid Dracula's reality, the stars in constellations have lines between them in the sky
Wow this game looks great! How have I never heard of this? Hope it shows up on the eShop someday...
It never did
Looks like a straight port from the nes or they just used the same assets/residues of it.
The fire storms in the last stage is a nod to Gradius. Another Konami classic :-)
Gameboy music is awesome
yes it is
So many of these characters are fucking adorable
A shame the first Kid Dracula game (NES) never got to USA shores, save for imports. It explained a lot of stuff mentioned in this one.
Until now...

Originally the work of the late Claude Debussy, I presume? (regarding Golliwog, by which the 2nd stage and MicroValue's Mouse Trap are inspired)
I also did fan artwork of this too
that's great
Wonderfull music in this game. Among it Debussy! yes, in the level 2; golliwog's cakewalk
For a game that parodies Castlevania, it's kind of fun.
How's the controls? Soundtrack is nice and the graphics look so charming.
Hope if I'll have kids they are going to be like kid dracula!
This is so awesome! I cant believe I never heard of this game since they said it was released in the U.S. back in 1993? And I had the very 1st Gameboy too.
I think kid Dracula should get a game on the switch
Dracula is so cute lol
Is this Alucard?
This graphic so beautiful.
i hope this comes out for 3ds Virtual
great game!!
It's so awesome.
This game looks so cool!
Great longplay! Never played this before though.
My childhood! :)
They should remake this game on the switch
My childhood is recorded on this game.... *Face palm* but I had one interesting childhood...
I wonder who Kid Draculas father was.
We'll never know. It's a bit confusing how this fits into Castlevania proper, but "Garamoth" as he's known here, he shows up in Symphony Of The Night, Aria Of Sorrow, and is mentioned in Judgment.
This game looks so good!!!!
This game made me need new batteries several times
am i the only one crying in the beginning that the player should charge the nor before shooting to gather coins?
GorinRedspear yah its kinda annoying :D
Alucards first adventure
Level 1: Dracula's Castle
Level 2: The Forest
Level 3: The Roller Coaster
Level 4: The Flying Ship
Level 5: The Sky Elevator
Level 6: The Magma Road

See you soon little buddy!
this game is a cutesy castlevania spinoff/parody
yep!
Konami is so good at clusterfxxk parody games using their own original characters, first Wai Wai World, then Kid Dracula and Parodius. If companies like M2 can make a compilation of these games, I would like to buy it
Alucard what's your business here?
12:00 WHAT Jason?
Yep xD
why does everyone Think Kid Dracula is Alucard Their not the same thing
Got this for the Famicom, paid $25 for it years back, but this Gameboy iteration has gotten a bit too pricey for me.
24:36 same bat time, same bat channel.
He look like goku
great game, i have it on card!
One of the secret gems on the GB imho
Is this guy Soma?...
the nostalgia!!!! i fucking loved this game!
i wish it wasn't so expensive
Who's here because of the Smash Direct?
I don't own this one, I do own the Famicom game (which isn't quite the same levels wise). Sadly the price of this one has put it out of reach for me.
Bloodreign1 indeed it has gone up a steep price. the first boss from the Famicom version, has the nazi symbol on his head. This was removed in the Game Boy version i see.
It was also removed in the anniversary version, both Japanese and American
Masterpiece
