Hud (Suite)

Directed by Martin Ritt, This (1963) character drama gave Paul Newman one of his finest roles.The superb supporting cast features Patricia Neal, Melvyn Douglas and Brandon De Wilde. The beautifully stark B+W photography of James Wong Howe and the subtle score by Elmer Bernstein make this a classic.

II sympathize. It's not the original, but that doesn't make it terrible. Maybe it was specially orchestrated for an album by Bernstein himself - it's often the case that like Henry Mancini, a film composer will "touch up" a soundtrack album for listening purposes, which of course, ensures that it is no longer an "original" soundtrack.
