You have found something very special. I can't count the times I have floated overnight on that stretch of the Current. It's always been productive and beautiful. Tight lines and nice video.
What a great trip and great video!! You definitely was rigged up with what they like. This Beginner fly fisherman is about to head there in the morning. Thanks for leaving me some. Keep the videos a coming!!
I'm so fortunate! I live 3.5 hours to the Pigeon and Current. I do the trip for 2.5 days strait twice per month. Average about hooked trout 15-18 for the 3 days. I keep it legal though. all on fly rods. I usually bring 3 of different weights.
I have a pair of Simms waders that i bought on sale from Sierra Trading post years ago. I believe they are the older freestone wader, but not sure? I've had them for over 10 years and best pair I've ever had! Can't really recommend any other waders, as I haven't had alot of experience with other brands. I've had several cheap waders in the past including the simms , and they never hold up. I like Simms, but haven't purchased any new waders from them in the last 10 years. At the time i purchased these, I felt like they had the best waders on the market, but not sure in 2024?
If you ever did want to float the stretch of river that I'm 99.9% sure you're talking about, in a kayak or canoe, you can do those 8 miles in just a couple hours. Plenty of time to stop and fish.
Great video. Was there about a month ahead of you for the first time and couldn’t get any bites on nymphs of any kind. Water was higher and faster at the time. If you head to Barren Fork I’d like to know if you got any? I didn’t see a single trout there. Great videos again keep them coming.
4wt the most versatile and perfect for the Current. 5wt is not bad. 6wt a tad big but I fished a 7wt at Bennett Spring for years not knowing any better! LOL. The fish won't know at all.
Spent most of my life fishing at Montauk State Park. Gorgeous spring waters with fish in every corner. The first 30 mi is the most challenging for canoes and fishing both.❤
Montauk is amazing. The olive wooly booger does a great job there.
It sure is!
Montauk is my favorite state park here in Missouri. It's a beautiful area around Eminence with the Current River, Jacks Fork, & Alley Spring.
It's a special place for sure!
@OutdoorHighlife Agreed
Great video
The current is one of my favorite places to fly fish.
Thank You! It’s such a cool place!

It’s a beautiful stream for sure! Enjoy your trip up there!
Sunny and in the 60s, caught some great fish on a beautiful river. You can’t ask for too much more. Glad you enjoyed Missouri. Come back soon.
It was hard to beat! It was a great trip for sure! Hopefully I’ll be back soon!
Love the drone shots.
Thank You!
My favorite stream in Mo. good fishing
It’s hard to beat!
Glad you had a good time. I had a chance to go this weekend, well Thursday through Sunday] with my buddy Aaron. He tore up some nice browns.
Thanks Bill! The scenery and fishing was spectacular! It’s worth the trip!
Great video! Definitely one of my favorite rivers!
Thanks! It’s a gem for sure!

For sure! I definitely want to go back and float it!
Nice video man

@@OutdoorHighlife looking forward my friend , you’re always welcome
What brand of waders are you wearing? Would you recommend?

I also have a pair of Simms. Great waders, I recommend

Yea, I would love to float that section! Thanks for the advice!
@@OutdoorHighlife I recommend packing your camping gear and doing a 2 day float and fish.
Yea, that would be awesome!

Thanks! Yea, I fished the barren fork and I got skunked and didn’t see a trout either!
What campground did you stay at?
Montauk State Park
How far outside of the park were you fishing?
About 1 1/2 miles
Great video. I am going to need to get a 6wt I think…
Thank you! I used a 6wt, but other weight rods such as a 4 or 5 would be fine. Just kind of depends on preference and fishing style!

How do you get permission to fly your drone?
I flew it in the state park. I didn’t fly it in the National Park.
Are you up stream from Tan Vat access
I was downstream from Tan Vat.
Where is this place located
Missouri

Of the trout parks here in Missouri I've always liked Montauk the best, even tho we only live about 40 minutes from Bennett Spring.
That is awesome!
The Current is part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverway system. Drones are prohibited 🚫
I am aware and was not flying on scenic Riverway
Calm down Nancy
6wt!?
Great fish!
Outstanding job!
Yea
Thank You!
Is it necessary to shove the fish up close to the camera? It's like 'hey, I thought you might recognize this big guy from somewhere'.
Thanks for watching!
