    only f2l video that made sense! instead of blindly learning the algorithms, you can see how f2l actually works!
    great job mephisto, very intuitive

    Great tutorial thanks. After spending a week solving the F2L by myself intuitively but somewhat without a clear method, your cases totally make sense.

    For all of you guys saying this IS confusing, you are kinda right. I know when I started I was pretty frustrated with f2l but eventually I got it. A better suggestion, if your not progressing is too start with 2 look OLL and PLL. Badmephistos tutorial for that is excellent and you can speed up your times. So far my personal best is 31 seconds (PLL skip) But I average around 45-55 sec. So don't give up and keep trying!

      +Pitch Dark I couldn't do FTL, but it just came to me for some reason after watching badmephisto's tutorial though, I finally got it. Well, I get the basics at least, lining up etc, but so far, I don't know the best thing to do if the edge piece you need isn't on the top layer, or if when I align the corner or the edge, sometimes the edge piece is facing the wrong way, but I'll get there hopefully :D

    Totally forgot about this video, an a friend was looking for help glad I found it.
    This is by far one of the best F2L explanations. Cleared up a bit of the cube orientation I had trouble with at the time. Avg 10 went from 1:26 to 1:05.
    Just a note, for those of you having problems with this. Keep practicing the Beginners method till your avg sub 1:45. Lots of repetitions cause you to become more aware of intuitive steps and workings of the cube. Not just memorization.

    I've been comfortable with beginner's method for a couple of years. So I decided to take a look at speedcubing (which I've always been intimidated by). I'm impressed at how intuitive F2L is.
    I think I need to get a DIY cube now, and have a play.
    Good video.

    This is by far the best explanation of F2L I've seen. The emphasis on logic and just common sense was a hell of a lot better than "here are 50 cases that are going to occur. Memorize."

    finally!! i was looking for a video on F2L that i could actually process, and i was recommended this video by a website explaining CFOP. i was hesitant since this video was made over 14 years ago, but i’m glad i took the chance to watch it. most videos used confusing terminology that i just immediately gave up when trying to get faster. you have no idea when i finally understood it, my face just positively glowed!! thank you so much for this video.

  • @ConfusaCalavera
    @ConfusaCalavera 15 лет назад

    yes, you can.
    do F2L, then when you get to the last layer, first orient the edges (you will form a cross of the top color) then orient the corners. Once the last layer is oriented, you have to permute the corners and then permute the edges.
    It takes double the steps than in CFOP, but those are simple algorithms you have to learn.
    You can find algorithms for the last layer in any beginner's tutorial around.

    Greetings from Austria! :) Had internet long in trying to learn F2L, but only with your video I went to the button as it works! Since you use no more algorithms and explain why I have to do something so that the stone there, go there where he should be, made it much easier. The F2L I redeem now with no real problem, but I still have to be faster;)

    @Milezy
    I know this is old so sorry if this doesn't help.
    If you still solve slower than about 1:30, I would say just R U R' if the edge is on the right or L' U' L if it's on the left, this will pop it out into the top layer. Eventually though you should learn algorithms for hard cases so that you can do them faster. I'm working on F2L (that's why I'm re-watching these videos) even though I learned intuitive F2L from these videos almost a year ago. I only avg 0:46 still.
    Hope this helps.

    It looks a bit confusing at the first times, I know. BUT... DON'T GIVE UP!!!
    That's the secret of understanding: DO NOT GIVE UP, DON'T QUIT!
    For example I watched it like 30 times before I could apply it for my own cube without to get stuck. Soo, don't give up!

    The F2L is finally paying off. I'm getting faster at F2L. I just can't yet avoid the cube turns like you told in other of your videos and I think sometimes I do more moves than necessary. The worst part is always the last corner and edge... I always get a bit stuck there, but with more practice I think I'll improve.
    Anyway, thanks for finally making me understand this method!

    Hmm I recently bought a cube from rubik's site the one with the dvd and learned the beginner's method there. I also invested in Dan Harris' book and began looking at the f2l algorithms. The last 2 days I have been trying to figure out the f2l on my own and this would certainly help I believe! Thank you man...twas seemingly becoming a chore to sit and write my own algorithms though I still may for my own peace of mind.

    I know this is old so sorry if this doesn't help.
    There are only 8 possible positions for corners and 8 for edges.
    What I did at first was make up to 4 U turns (which turn the top layer). If I didn't find a corner and edge that match then I looked in the bottom left and right hand corners of the front face. There are only 2 other places for an edge to be and 2 for a corner, both in the back.
    Eventually, from practice, you just know where they are. Hope this helps.
