For everyone complaining about price. Rumple introduces new colors every fall and puts the last years on sale. Cost at REI this last fall for last year’s Rumple, $80 US.
Hi Mark! For once I won’t be adding a piece of kit to my collection because of your review. We already have Rumple blankets! Yes they are awesome! I do like your modification as well. Now for everyone complaining about price. Rumple introduces new colors every fall and puts the last years on sale. Cost at REI this last fall for last year’s Rumple, $80 US.
G'day Steve, thanks for your endorsement and the info on sale prices mate, not too worried about a coupla bucks, but that is a very significant difference. No REI outlets here in oz to my knowledge, but we do get many of their products through other suppliers, and often times a sale item, (after currency conversion and shipping), is still worth an international purchase. Cheers Duke.
I love my rumple blanket. It is nanoloft version. It is warmer and lighter and smaller when packed. Get one when it is on discount. It makes the outdoor activities cozy.
Always a pleasure to listen your commentary. Fluorescent colours would be advantageous. Stain guard and water repellent coating adds peace of mind. Yes $140 is steep. Nice Tilley hat! Cheers.
I bought my nanoloft on sale but I love it so much I would absolutely pay full price for it if I had to. I do quite a bit of car camping and it can get stuffy in the car but the cooling quality of the rip stop make for an amazingly warm and cozy yet cool to the touch sleeping experience.
Saw a simillar down blanket for sale on the other day, I passed on it tbh, but now I know better and I'm going back for it lol Thanks for all the input
Thank you for the suggestion of the paradors loops to keep it from sliding off if you use it as a top quilt. Or just as a way to cinch around your feet at night. In the summer I use my dads old flannel Coleman sleeping bag. Sometimes at night it can get extra cold so I do bring an extra blanket to put over me. Tho I usually bring my wool or fleece throws I’ve picked up at thrift stores over the years. Light weight and doesn’t slide off. I have a blanket like you are demonstrating but not rumpl brand, and I like how light weight it is and that I can snap it on to wear on a quick trip to the restroom in the middle of the night or to put over me while I’m sitting around the fire. It was probably $20 on Amazon so it if gets a hole I won’t cry too badly. It’s nice to have even inside the house as a throw. Though I generally prefer my wool or fleece cuz they don’t slide off.
Hey Mr.Y, the idea you had about having a channel down the side of the blanket that would facilitate a drawstring is Brilliant ! In fact the next time we are sitting around camp in the evening i may retrofit some of my existing gear :+D
I bought the down version of the single puffy at a discount store. It tucked nicely in my backpack for travel recently. Hotel blankets aren't great. I like a cool room with a warm blanket and the down puffy was excellent.
Greetings Mark. Hope you are well. I have a confession. In winter I sleep on a crappy, polyester doona . It's machine-washable, dries quickly, has a cotton exterior and it's as warm as toast. Not quite as expensive, but just as effective. Cheers mate !
G'day Mark, as someone that loathes sleeping bags, very good, though in fairness many bags do of course have full length zips. Yeah, still wanna keep it away from a fire and sharp objects though. Personally I'd take it car camping and use wool outside around the fire and save this one for sleeping, or lounging without a fire. Also, the two could be used together as a sleep system if it's really chilly. With the buckle; whether it be as is, or as you suggested a two part job, I reckon it needs to be adjustable in length and/or set back from the edge, so you can pull it tight enough to overlap. Anyway, interesting stuff mate, thanks for the vid once again, and as you rightly said, it's always good to have options. Cheers Duke.
I was liking it until I heard $140. Half that, maybe. I always think of what else I could get instead for the price, like a pretty good pair of boots, etc. Like you, I'd rather hunt for a suitable treasure in a thrift store for $10.

Wish we had REI in Canada. We have MEC which is similar and they carry Rumple but I have not seen the prices go that low. Thanks for commenting

Getting a hole in this would be my concern as well. Wool is better for campfires for sure. Thanks for commenting

For $80 you can geta 50% wool 50% acrylic blanket from Lesotho that herders have used in the cold/rain/snow mountains for centuries
50% acrylic and used for centuries: do tell 😉
I condensed my text - in future, I will write an essay :)@@alexandergutfeldt1144
I have a video on wool blankets as well. Thanks for commenting
Good review Mark , thanks for sharing , God bless !
Thanks, you too!
I have one and love ! Colorado here...
Right on. Great bit of kit. Thanks for commenting
Very nice addition to ones camping gear. The price (as you said) however . . . ouch.
Hi Lonnie. I have a budget synthetic blanket review coming shortly and of course, the woobie is an alternative. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft I'll be looking forward to the review vid. Take care and have a good one.
$150 bucks.......right. Outragious price for recycled plastics. Goose down or better yet, wool for the same price.

Always look at REI used I got their $250 blanket for 80 bucks in mint condition
@@theTransAmMan350 REI carries some nice stuff. I guess I am still a member. You can snag some pretty good deals at Sierra Trading Company too.

I just passed up a down puffy blanket for $10 at the thrift store only because I have three already from there. Thanks for commenting
For the price, I would rather have wool
I love my wool as long as I don't have to carry it too far. Thanks for commenting
It's a woobie!
It's a copy of the army woobie (poncho liner).
You could see it that way. Thanks for commenting
It's RUMPL, not Rumple.
Thank you for that
