- tested the duke 850 against a bridger #5 and the ts85's . even with 2 of the springs removed to make it easier to set , it blew the others away . i have to give credit to trapper j with him setting them by hand . i had to stand on the levers to set it before i took 2 springs off .
trappingsuppliesmt.com/product/trap-setter-for-the-duke-850-os-pro-series-wolf-trap/. setters i found for the 850's
Just buy a set of Bernie Nelson's setters. They'll set pretty much everything. The NO BS Wolf Xtreme is a tougher trap to set, but Bernie's setters make them as easy as any other trap.
@@sneakybow1 thanks for the tip .
That is what I have for the MB-750, work great
@@frez777 they do make it much easier .
I bought a mb- 750 four coil same thing I could not set it. I took off the two outside coils and now it sets a lot easier.
some traps are just hard to set . i bought some setters for the 850's but are still a beast to set . running them 2 coil and still holding big beaver . good luck with the 750 . they do have a great lock up .
First to watch!! Thanks for the heads up buddy! Love those traps my friend! Hope you can find some setters for them!
there will be setters for these . they are trully the best trap i have ever had in my hands .
Great video.
Bill Duke liked it also .
NO B S TRAPS HAS SETTERS THAT WORK. They sure look like a beast! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
i found some setters that are just as strong as the traps . going to link them in a video i have uploading now . i put the 850 beaver line out yesterday . can't wait to go check this morning .
Momma always said I wasn’t a smart man
yeah i know i am as country as a cow chip . thanks for watching .
Thanks for the review Amigo
thanks
I run Duke 850's on my line. I built my own setters out of rebar.
i love them and TS85'S . the setters i bought for the 850's work pretty good . i'm running them as 2 coil till i find a one handed setter for them .
I just got two brand new MB-750's and they seem very nice, all around. Duke traps are well built, just got done adjusting some
try a TS85 . you will love them if you can use a trap legally with that big of jaw spread . i like the duke 850 and katz brothers TS85's . the TS85's are just easier to set
Wow! My old butt couldn’t set that thing lol Even in a two coil. But I like the speed of it! 😊👍👍👍👏
it is a beast . setters have been ordered .
Enjoyed the comparison. I’ve not used the 850 yet but have seen some. They sure seem to be a beast of a trap.
they are about 6 pounds each and drown quickly . in the 4coiled trap i needed setters , when i took 2 coils off i could set them on my leg in the canoe and they are still fast and strong .
I like my duke 330s, but for foothold, that TS85 is my favorite. Nice and easy to set, and its made in Minnesota!
the TS85 is one of the best traps out there for beaver . i plan on trying some beaver extremes . 330 maniac has switched to using them . i want a couple to try out .
Impressive. I have not met this trap in person yet. I'm looking forward to meet it! I like the wide jaws....too bad they are not off set a little.
these are for the beaver , the wolf traps are offset .
@@judithdandavis2206 That makes sense.
Still think the ts 85 has the advantage.
they are my favorite trap to use for beaver and otter .
Nice looking traps
the strongest trap i have ever seen .
I got my box of 850's in yesterday. I opened them up to look at them . They sent the offset jaws not regular jaws. I could have picked the offset up when i was down there. I was hoping to have them to put out this week. They are sending them out today. With pre paid postage to ship other traps back with. Them 850 are some tanks. I have Bridger #5 DLS and coilspring. I like the looks of the 850's the best.. Heavy cast jaws big pan.
i put a link to the setters in the comments and pinned it . 19 bucks for the setters for the 850's plus about 10 bucks shipping .
I have 1 and 3/4 4x4 Victor's, those look like they would be equal to a number 3 victor that's been 4 coiled.
these have an 8 and1/2 inch jaw spread and weigh over 6 pounds each . love the wide cast jaws .
Damn that's a beast of a trap may just may have to get one.
TIGHT CHAINS Brotha.
get a pair of setters if you plan to use it . i had to stand on the levers to set it . i watched trapper j set them by hand , he must be as stout ad a bull . this one can get away from you quick if you make a mistake .
Wrist snappers. Trapper J is an enigma.
watching him set them by hand , and watching 330 maniac set the 330 connibears by hand is amazing . i will be using setters .
You can use an old lawn mower blade..or small leaf spring..them maine setters are pretty easy to reproduce.
my setters came in today . now the fun will begin in the new property i found to trap .
I agree traper J his hands are a beast I'd hate to get in a fight with him lol ... Good video .
the setters i bought work pretty good , solid as a tank and easy tu use . i would love to find some one handed setters for the duke 850's . then i will run them as 4 coil .like this video has shown the duke 850's are stronger and faster than the other 2 popular beaver traps . i caught a beaver in one today over 60 pounds . the 2 coil held it solid .
I made my own setters let me know if you want the dimensions
i ordered a set , they are in the pinned comment . thank you for the offer on the dimensions . they are a tank of a trap . lock up rock solid .
That’s a good looking trap!!
a verry strong heavy built tank of a trap . they are perfect .
They are a nice trap I just don't think a man needs to go that big to catch beaver in my opinion, I got my first beaver in my TS-85 today. And don't get me wrong hey they are fast and got a lot of holding power. When I was young one of my mentors who taught me to trap caught 100s of beaver in a northwoods 1 3/4 coil spring trap he had about 6 of em and he caught beaver every day ! He would annually put up 60 to 80 beaver every year! cheers
Great video guys
the strongest trap i ever tried to set .
@@judithdandavis2206 I got to set one at the FTA They’re pretty stout for sure if they’re the same springs as the wolf model
@@jutnjenrasmussen8637 same springs . trying to be macho and set it by hand like i do the ts85's and bridger #5's will humble a person quick . i had to stand on it to set it . i have the setters ordered and gave the link in the pinned comment on this video .
@@judithdandavis2206 🤣 yes they will
Man those things are crazy !
made to hold wolf and mountain lion . beaver are in trouble .
@@judithdandavis2206 lol YT hey are indeed
@@tubbyguyoutdoors got them degreased and painted today . had to order setters for them . strongest trap we have ever seen .
@@judithdandavis2206 that’s great and I would have had to get some too . Those things are stout
Those look like some awesome traps should work great for beaver! Hope you can find some setters for em
as soon as i find a pair of setters , i will share a link with the community.
That's a big one!
serious trap , going to be awesome to get set out .
Wow those are fast
had to stand on the trap to set it as a 4 cioled trap . they are a cadilac of traps .
Those are BEAST of a Trap Dan! I see you found some setters that looks like a must unless your non human like @Trapper J 🤪
they are stronger than any other trap i have tried to set . setters are a must , about like setting a 330 by hand and trying to squeeze both springs at the same time . . don't want the trap getting away from you .
Just wondering did you try the setters for a MB 750 on that trap not sure if that would work or not
found some for the 850's , i put the link in the top pinned comment . i am not a little man and had to stand on the levers to get it set .
I have a buddy that makes setters that works great on the Duke 850.
Is the Wolf version off set? I seem to recall hearing they were? They look good, how do you like them?
i pinned a link in the comments to a link where the setters are for sale .
@@MuskratOutdoors They are off set. In my opinion they are very well built and very strong trap. I think for the price you cannot go wrong. I know there has been one confirmed wolf caught in the 850 wolf so far.
@@judithdandavis2206 I will send you a pic of the setters that Bernie Nelson from Idaho makes. They work on every wolf and beaver trap that I have. They are nice so a guy doesn't have 3 or 4 different sets of setters.
@@jasonhoesel7144 thanks , these are the strongest traps i have ever tried to set .
Wow they look alot stronger and built heavier try 408 or the hammer for setters ya never knpw
great idea , i will get a hold of the hammer .
Nice and new sub I saw you on big matt and I have a channel to if you want to see it 😁
will go check it out .
Very cool
going to run them as 2 coil traps till i can find setters . the 2 coil 850's are plenty strong for beaver . with all 4 coils on the trap , i had to stand on them to set them .
@@judithdandavis2206 oh wow! Cool! Fo what ever is easier. I think you will do well with those.
You and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving and God Bless
@@jeffjackson5331 have a blessed thanksgiving to you also .
@@judithdandavis2206 will do thanks!
Wouldn't want to get my hand in any of them
it will scare the stuffing out of you when it happens . i did it with the ts85 last winter and still have a crease in my thumb .
👍
they are a beast of a trap .
