Ran into Galliano at the Duffer of St George in London while I was a design student in Switzerland during their first album, went up introduced myself and basically told him I was a fan and loved their music. Galliano was floored because I was American and had no idea they were known in the states. I didn’t have the heart to tell him I discovered them while studying in Switzerland… a week later I was back in Switzerland at the Montreux Jazz festival and found out Galliano were playing but totally sold out that night… I looked down the hall at the venue and saw Mick Talbot strolling around and went up to chat with him and say hello because believe it or not, I also ran into him at a Paul Weller gig that same trip to London and bought him a beer while he was sitting at the bar… I was also a huge Style Council fan. Anyway, he had mentioned that he was playing keys with Galliano… I then asked if there was any possible way to get into the show that night and Mick says come with me, I’ll introduce you to the main guy… Galliano! He remembered me from when I ran into him in London and introduced me to Colin who was with “Talkin Loud” records. Colin said “take my backstage pass… they know my face here and you can give it back at the show that night”. Man that was an act of God… I showed up that night had backstage access and not only hung out with the band but also with Quincy Jones and Mick Hucknall of Simply Red. A night I’ll never forget… I finally started home around 5am that next morning with the sun starting to come out after tagging along with Quincy Jones after the concert to several other small gigs that were happening that night. I now live in Tokyo and just before Covid found their first album on vinyl with the “obie”… needless to say I picked it up and every time I listen it reminds me of that special night.

      Brilliant story!
I'm also a big Mick Talbot/Style Council fan. I was a club regular at Giant Step NYC. Saw Brand New Heavies US Debut at S.O.B.s NYC. Talked up Simon Bartholomew & at the Giant Step after party N'dea Davenport came up to me and had a dance with me. Great times!

@@big-baby-buddha that sounds like a night.! I saw the Heavies in Paris and Los Angeles during the same time, that was a great lineup. The whole acid jazz scene as very positive in a lot of ways. Cheers.

Saw Galliano at the Zelt Musik Festival in Freiburg in the 90s. Best atmosphere ever! Half an hour after they left the stage people were still singing and dancing, so they came out again to perform a few additional songs! ❤

I was in Bosnia Herzegovina when this was recorded, great words from Rob Gallagher on Yugoslavia, before prince of peace, it was a shit show in b&h.
Only the poorest people were slaughtered and displaced, same stuff still happening today, time for Galliano to hit the road again i reckon.
Great band, some real characters and talented people made up this unique band of social merrymen.
Great upload thanks very much. 🎼💙🥢

According to broadcast records, this was recorded/broadcast (June 1, 1992) @ Nachtwerk,Munchen, Germany. 2 songs missing from an audio tape I have, the second tune from this broadcast 'From The North, From The South, The East And The Weeeest' and last tune 'Cemetary of Drums' seem to be missing from the audio broadcast... Cheers for uploading!

Second tune sounds like Blood Lines. Great tune, always felt it was like a version of Gary Bartz's I've known rivers.

I don't believe that version of From the North from the South would be this gig. If memory serves that was an outdoors accoustic.
2nd here track is Earth Boots. Bloodlines didn't get released for another 2 years. Great song that.

Beautiful Gig : i do hope the Prince of Peace ( aka Jesus Christ ) will come back soon, there's apparently a possibility with the next conjunction of planets, stars and the Nishimura comet ...
... but if each one of us doesn't do his own job of being a real representant of unconditionnal love, the possibility of failing is still probable ...
So, come on people, let's try it : Love is the only way to get out of the mess we're in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
