Fun fact that I only know about because of Chuggaaconroy: apparently sometimes if you use the bowling ball thing sticker on this boss it just crashes the game
The most creative music ever made. How is this not brought up? The fact that the claps, slams, and other aspects and the fact that the boss your fighting interferes with the music is just Epic.
Because it’s not an original concept in the slightest or executed in a way here where it’s very impressive. It was done very well here, but it’s not extremely notable, just a little notable. Don’t get me wrong, I love this, and I also think Sticker Star is a good game (just not a good paper Mario game, it’s more of a charming collectathon with light RPG elements), but there are plenty other impressive examples of music affecting gameplay, or gameplay affecting music in gaming.
Probably the programming for the music to change based on remaining stock would be to tricky namely given there's 5 different parts of this fight and the music really feels like proper fighting around 3 through 5 so it was probably too much to have it change and alternate for one track when I don't think any other tracks do that as far as I know
This game gives me nostalgia of getting this game on Christmas Morning. I remember this fight the most. @@SkittyissocoolCool. I've always liked Paper Mario and it makes me sad to see that the community is always in a constant fight about which game is the best.
I hear you loud and clear!!! Super Paper Mario was my first Paper Mario, and this was my second. I played it on my original 3DS the summer I studied abroad in Japan. Sticker Star was the first Paper Mario game I ever played. I understand why it's hated, but I also don't think it deserves all the hate it gets. It's fun and they play with the paper style very well in this version. I understand that this game marked the biggest departure from the series though, towards a more child-friendly audience, which Paper Mario wasn't really initially intended for or made popular by. But I honestly think Sticker Star is not as bad as people make it out to be. It's not Thousand Year Door, but it doesn’t need to be. I think this boss battle is a great example of its identity. I keep coming back to this song because of how hard it slaps, and how creative the Gooper Blooper battle was. Justice for Sticker Star
Gooper Blooper, in concept, is easily my favourite boss in the game and, game-wide battle system and game design flaws aside, is probably a contender for coolest fight in the series. Having all of Gooper's tells and animations be tied to the music is a phenomenal idea and breathes so much life into an otherwise kinda bland foe. I just wish they went further with the gimmick. Change all of Mario's non-Thing attack action commands and animations to follow the beat of the music for this fight too, it'd be great! Makes me wish we got this in a game where the strategy wasn't "find sponge, sling sponge, use sponge sticker when he spits poison" because that does let it down a fair bit in execution. Otherwise, a great boss at the end of a real slog of a chapter.
Ngl I think petey is the best enemy in the game You don't need any key items to beat it, and it GIVES you attacks when you damage it Gooper blooper is probably the worst fight in the game since its basically unwinnable without the sponge, which you and everyone else probably looked up the location for Great battle theme tho
