Always loved watching this in Ladysmith where i grew up.. What a cool job that would be!! I've hauled logs for oceanic transport in both Kitimat and Stewart BC, my all time favorite places to deliver! Thanks for the cool vid!
Great footage!!! Are you the owner of this footage? Is it possible for me to use and upload this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, inland barge ships, navy, etc. Of course full credit and a link to your RUclips page will be given when I upload. If you want to talk this through via e-mail, that's also possible. Especially if licensing, free or payed, is an option. My email is on my youtube page. I'm looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Thanks!
Are you guys able to dump year around ? That is the neatest barge I've ever heard of. How old is she ? Thanks for sharing and kudos for going above & beyond to get just the right shot.
Ched Ballz Myself and a deck hand go aboard the barge and hook the left over logs to an assist tug, for him to pull them off. If we can't move them we anchor up and call the loaders back.
I was just going to comment that doesent quite look like West Coast of VI - but along the East Coast - south of Nanaimo....... but then I saw the Ladysmith harbour in the video
Once you are unloaded, does the ship usually head back and get reloaded as fast as possible or do you have to wait till the logs are in a certain place before departing for another load?
Nice chemtrails in your time lapse. Contrails last 20-30 secs where as these chem trails last all day. Nice to know your being poisoned while you work.

thanks for sharing this. I see these barges docked at work, neat to see them in action
Very cool. I've never seen anything like that before.
If logs dont come off what do you do if there heavy and cant do it by hand
If that video doesn't deserve a thumbs up and a subscription, I don't know what does.
Thanks for the reply to all the questions. Just what i was going to ask. Nice work. 🤣😂😁😀😎
thanks

yes we do dump year round.
This barge was built in the 70's and is starting to show her age.
Only 2 left working in the world right.
@@SeaSpanKing Wow, SeanSpanKing! only 2 left working the world in 2014 at that particular time . . .
How do the logs get from the water to the mill?
What are the logs being used for? Building a dam?
HEWfunkingKNEWit The logs are used for everything from paper pulp, food grade cellulose to lumber.
@@SeaSpanKing alright, so its just a step in the transport process. Interesting. Im assuming the logs are still untreated at this stage?
HEWfunkingKNEWit we pick up the logs from the coastal logging camps and transport them to various dump sites.
3:43. Wake up seagull.
How do you unload the logs that don't fall off as in the first dump?
Ched Ballz Myself and a deck hand go aboard the barge and hook the left over logs to an assist tug, for him to pull them off. If we can't move them we anchor up and call the loaders back.
Is that the one that capsized in Davis Bay???
Yes
What are the box-like structures on the uphill side of the loading cranes?
Ladysmith harbour?

thats was a great idea to put a go pro camera on the barge
Robert Etchell thanks. It was just an experiment I came up with, and wanted to try.

Vic Reece yes most times we travel as soon as possible.
Those seagulls must've been like wtf
why do you dump the logs?
Euan Seaton It's faster, more efficient, and less damage to the product.
Wow
Strange way of doing it

It was the Phoenix that capsized.
