Last month, I passed my written exam, and now I am studying for my skills exam, which is this Saturday. I am very grateful to have found your videos to help me prepare. I’m watching your videos from Raleigh, North Carolina, and I feel so blessed to have discovered your content!
Thanks soo much Dr Lee, your videos helped me a great deal. I just past my skills today 10/25/2024. Will be writing on 10/27/2024, tomorrow friday. I pray i make it. For my skills I had feeding a resident on a chair, hand wahing, and ambulation. Thanks very much
This was the best step-by-step CNA Skills test preparation I have seen for Credentia/Pearson. The very very specific explanations and instruction-very detailed. Thank you so much!
I have take to retake my test on Saturday after not working for 3 years. Super nervous. But your videos are just bringing back everything i have learned in the classes 3 years ago. Thank you ❤
I have a question , so when it states to put the bed in a lower position. Do we raise the bed to a safe working level? I was told not to raise the bed , just say it .
Hello, I personally teach my student NOT to raise the bed to a safe working level. This is because some students get nervous about taking the exam and may forget to put the height of the bed back down. NOT putting the bed back down is a costly mistake because now the client is at risk for injury/falls. So, I tell my students to keep the bed at whatever level the evaluator has the bed at. The bed wheels will ALREADY be locked. Therefore, a student should NEVER unlock the bed wheels.
Hi just to make sure is it okay to just verbalize that? Like I will just verbalize that I will raise the bed in my working level then after the skill verbalize it to put it in the lowest?
Would we not the clothing protector into the soiled linen basket? Im asking because my teacher always had us put things like clothes and cloths/rags into the soiled linen not unless it was hazardous
Hello, For the feeding skill, the student is not required to document the amount eaten. For this skill, the evaluator will be looking to see if you ASKED the patient to say their name, make sure the client is sitting upright, the candidate is SITTING, and tell the client what they are eating. These are important steps.
Hello, You DON"T need to provide privacy for the feeding skill. In real life, most patients eat in a dining room with other people. So, privacy is not needed.
Hello, Credentia does not require the candidate to change wipes. Therefore, you can use the same wipe or a different wipe. You will NOT FAIL if you use the same wipe. When I go to a restaurant and eat finger foods such as chicken nuggets, I use the same napkin throughout my meal. I don't get a clean napkin or wipe at different times while eating. I hope this example helps.
@@credentiacnaskills3577 you're a GREAT teacher. I have my skills test on Fri 5/12 and your videos are way more helpful than what my school has provided. THANK YOU!
Hello Ashley, yes you need to tell the client everything that is on the tray. In this manner, you will be respecting the patient's right to eat what they want and not what you want to feed the client. Let the patient decide.
Hello Lucy, The placement of the table is not something the evaluator will grade you on. So, yes, you can leave the table in front of the resident with this skill.
Hi dr. Lee. I have a question. So im shorter. Would it be okay to place your chair where it should be and say, " i would usually sit and feed the client but because im short ill be standing so i dont reach over the patients food?" Im stressing over this, im literally just 4'10 😢

You are so welcome Rossie.
The clothing protector will go in the designated dirty area and not in the dry linen container? I just don’t want to mess up if I get this skill.
Will you feed the patient while wearing gloves or not
Hello, you SHOULD NOT have on gloves when feeding the client.
Do we wear gloves during this skill?
Hello, Credentia does NOT require gloves for this skill. In reality wearing gloves while feeding is considered insulting.
I have a question , so when it states to put the bed in a lower position. Do we raise the bed to a safe working level?
I was told not to raise the bed , just say it .

Hello, Credentia does NOT use a soiled linen basket. The instructions call placement in the Dirty Supply Area.
Ms. Mary is a gem. lol
yes, she is. Thanks
Well explained 10/10 recommend this video.
Thanks
Your demonstration of the skills are on key. One question do you document after the client has eaten ?
Hello, For the feeding skill, the student is not required to document the amount eaten.
For this skill, the evaluator will be looking to see if you ASKED the patient to say their name, make sure the client is sitting upright, the candidate is SITTING, and tell the client what they are eating. These are important steps.
Hello, as part of the closing procedure we still need to verbalize “report and document” right?
Do we have to put a clothing Protector on the resident ? Thank you for your help
Hello, The student MUST place something across the resident's chest for this skill. You may place a paper towel, washcloth, or clothing protector.
Do I need to provide privacy for feeding it isn't a requirement in credentia hand book.
Hello, You DON"T need to provide privacy for the feeding skill. In real life, most patients eat in a dining room with other people. So, privacy is not needed.
@@credentiacnaskills3577will It count against me if I am nervous and do?
Hi Dr Lee ! I have a question. When doing the CNA skills. Are you allow to fail any skill or every skill has to be pass ?
Is it ok to leave the table in front of the client after she is finish eating?
Hello, Yes, you may.
Would it be ok to put the cloth in the dirty linen instead of dirty supply?
Credentia does not use the dirty linen hamper.
Would there be a dry linen ? If so does this classify as that?
Do we put the bed rail up on the side we are not setting while feeding?
Hello, I hope I understand your question.
You MUST sit while feeding the client.
The side rail is not a requirement for this skill.
Do we have to physically wash our hands or verbalize that we would wash our hands
Hello, The first skill requires the candidate to actually wash their hands. After the first skill, the candidate would verbalize handwashing.
You clean the patients hands at the beginning and end with the same wipe? Isn't the wipe dirty from first cleaning the hands?
Hello, Credentia does not require the candidate to change wipes. Therefore, you can use the same wipe or a different wipe. You will NOT FAIL if you use the same wipe.
When I go to a restaurant and eat finger foods such as chicken nuggets, I use the same napkin throughout my meal. I don't get a clean napkin or wipe at different times while eating. I hope this example helps.
Thank you!!
Do we have to sanitize the table after? Or verbalize it is ok?
Hello, Skill 10, feeding a client NEVER asks the candidate to clean the table. Where did you get that requirement from?
Cleaning the table is not a requirement for this skill.
Hi, the steps do not say to place a towel over the patients chest so would this just be an extra step and not required?
Hello, That is correct. It helps my students remember to clean the mouth after feeding.
Okay and Thank you for your response!
When providing mouth care, do you leave client sitting ?
Yes, leave the client sitting.
@@credentiacnaskills3577 when doing weight, do we leave client standing?
should you ask the patient if it's ok to put the clothing protector on her/him?
That would be nice to do.

Yes, exactly

Hello mam, skills exam patient is always able to tell their name?...
Hello, for the feeding skill, YOU MUST ask the patient to state their name. This is a step in the skill.

Hello, The state instructions call for the student to SIT while feeding the client. If you stand you might not pass.
What if the patient can't say her name
Hello, During the exam, you will be working with another student who will pretend to be a patient. Therefore, the person will be able to state their name.
@credentiacnaskills3577
Thank You very much
so we don't use gloves
Hello, Gloves are not worn during the feeding skill.
Thanks for asking because I was wanting to know
Me too I am asking if I wear gloves or not
Where do you put the trey after the skill?
The food tray goes to the dirty supply area.
No gloves
Hello, You are correct. Gloves are NOT required for the feeding skill.
