I think, the knowledge of the english language and western lifestyle including signs, etc. of the Philippines are one of the best selling points for foreigners. Its easier to get around in that country because you can also easily talk to the locals. Anyway, have fun in the beautiful Korea and stay safe always.
The enthusiasm in experiencing what Seoul has to offer is contagious. I don’t miss Winter and all that cold though so following your adventures virtually is more enjoyable.
i love Korea :) love love their foods. yes, it is quite quiet. I was also there last winter. the coffee culture is great, actually a lot compared to the Philippines, almost like every corner I went to. I went to Myeodong, Insadong, Gyeongbokgung, Bukchon Hanok Village - a must! And for story, introduce her to the world of Sanrios...I visited this cupercute Sanrio Lovers Club in Hongdae. If you like Sanrio characters and good cafe atmosphere, this is the place :)
@@Moss_piglets I was there! Italians usually take caffe (espresso), and they usually do a return trip to the barista whenever they feel like it, thus, more coffee shops...Korea on the other hand, they like Cafe Americano, which I prefer and stays longer inside the shop to hang out, might be another reason for an explosion of coffee shops.
The place I stayed in Seoul had no beds in the bedroom, there was a closet full of futons though so I stacked 8 to sleep on…all in all a very interesting change of pace..there are some narrow streets with many restaurant choices, think one was where all those people packed in..so you’ll enjoy the stay as you sre already..thx for letting us tag along 🙏🏻🎄🎄🎄🎄
Try the vegetarian BIBIMBAP - korean rice dish with veggies individually arranged , drizzled with sesame oil , amd korean chilli paste … you can even have tofu in it , sooooo gooood !
Thank you for sharing your authentic Korea experiences. It is very different since you are not staying in a hotel and doing your own food shopping etc. If you do not want to purchase heavy clothing, a scarf will keep you warm and shouldn't take too much space in your luggage.
Hi there, came across this phone app called Naver Papago which is a translator. You can actually use it to translate the Korean on the food packages to make sure it's vegan-friendly by just taking a photo of the ingredients on the packaging. The app has multi uses i.e. you can talk into it in English and it will translate what you said into Korean anyway hope it is helpful while you and your family are in South Korea. Also be super careful make sure your beautiful child is close to you as traffic/crossing the road can be dangerous at times. Some people run the red lights especially taxis/cabs and motor scooters. Some people are too busy trying to make deadlines. Anyway, stay safe and enjoy your trip.
Thanks for sharing how Korea looks like in a smaller scale for now. Have fun and we will continue watching your daily vlogs. Take care and enjoy your holidays. 🎉🎈🎄🥰🥰🥰
Bibimbap and kimbap are easy vegan options and ddeok or rice cakes are vegan to, I know there's a few vegan Korean style restaurants in Insadong, I went to one called Osegye Hang which was nice it's a bit difficult to find as it's right at the bottom of a small alley but there's a traditional Korean tea house right next to it which was one of my favourite spots and they gave us hot water bottles to keep us warm there as we visited in winter to haha! Anyway I hope you enjoy your visit there and it's not too cold for you xoxo
Tap water in Korea is one of the cleanest in the world. But many of the pipes in the buildings date back to the 80s and 90s, so I suggest you buy a purifier that costs around 20 US dollars. I hope your trip in Korea is enjoyable and full of good memories!
one of Japan and South Korea's similarity is, they prefer the quiet so rule of thumb; do not talk loudly especially when in shared spaces such as public transportation (trains or buses). if you need help, approach the young ones and hope for the best that they are university students since they could understand and speak a bit of English. watch out for the elderly, (ajhumma for old ladies and ajhussi for old men) they literally don't stop for no one. if you are in their way, they will bump into you. btw, there are many Korean grocery stores all over Manila, some are even open 24 hours. so if you guys are craving Korean food, there is a variety back here in Manila 😊
Hopefully someone can open a Korean mart in Siargao since many Korean tourists are coming to Siargao so 8MFH can have many vegan option when doing grocery.
Check out Insadong area too for souvenirs, traditional tea houses, arts & crafts. The food courts of Lotte Duty Free Mall in Myeongdong and Hyundai Mall are huge and have a lot of choices.
Go to Myeongdong Street for Korean street food. Youll find them in Gwangjang, or Nandaemun markets too. Try the Kimchi Mandu (Korean dimsum), Gimbap, Bungeoppangs (fish shaped warm & crispy bread w/ red bean paste), mochi with fresh fruits inside, bibimbap (mixed rice).
Gyeongbukgong palace, museums, traditional village, Nami Island, city tour, myeongdong shopping, walk around the popular river (forgot the name), sky tower, Lotter world
All korean houseS are ALL FLOORED HEATING.. the Heating control system has separate control buttons for floor and water temperature.. If you want to use the warm water, you need to turn on the heated water button 1st and wait for 1-2 mins. before you can use it
Enjoy! By the way, which part of Seoul are you? It's best to ride buses 'cause you'll be able to see more and it's not as expensive as trains or taxi but it needs to be learned. Enjoy Seoul and take care. Use face masks inside mass transport and inside enclosed spaces. Earlier there were reports of rising cases of covid there.
The Google translate app uses the phone’s camera to help with translations. Point the camera at the package, sign etc and it will replace the language with english. It is amazing.
There are lots of vegan dishes there. If you see Megan Moon's vlog. She's vegan and is staying in South Korea. Has two twin 8 month old and is married to a Korean. 😁👏. Explore, enjoy and thanks for sharing.
Korea is known for BBQ. And kimchi. They like pork beef chicken BBQ. U can enjoy the culture unless u adjust to what is traditional there not the other way around. I love going to itaewon Seoul lots of bargain shopping and food.
Seems it's a neighborhood convenient food store you bought items... I think you did a pretty good job in shopping it's a your first time in Korea (look for a bargain items. Stores like that they usually have on display, 2 for 1 items.) And a bit more bigger markets... a lot cheaper on almost all items.
You know there is an app on your phone that can translate all languages just by scanning the item from a different language ( called translate just put it in a camera mode) I am surprised you haven’t discover that yet since you guys travel a lot, I am an iphone user but but son’s uses samsung.
Nice apartment but the weather its so cold. You'll adapt to it coz you came from England now its also in negative. Enjoy your trip on that beautiful Seoul,Korea...keep safe everyone...
Visited Seoul in 2015 and I can say that food there are quite expensive. You may want to visit Nami Island, Seoul Tower, Myeondong Market, Itaewon Market, The Garden of Morning Calm and those Korean Palaces. Enjoy and have a great vacation. ☺️🤗
It's quite because it's cold outside just like in tropic country, people are outside because it's hot inside without ac 😆, and mostly people are at work or school that's why it's quite
Enjoy your vacation in Korea. I would suggest, if you know that app that can translate to English or Korean vice versa for you to understand more about the language during the time or need to speak to the locals, that would be amazing.
Yes, you can drink their tap water! I've lived there for 5 years and drank mostly tap water - not a problem. Korea is a developed country not like the Philippines. And there's nothing doggy about taxis in Korea - I used to catch them all the time - you are not going to get ripped off! Sometimes they might take you around the long route or might not pick you up being a foreigner, but they will not rip you off! Again, Korea is not like the Philippines - Korea is a developed country, in fact one of the safest countries in the world - you can leave your stuff in the street and people won't touch it! When you go to cafes, you will see bags, laptops, phones just left on the table while they walk around the place.
I dunno if Storys jacket provides enough warmth. It didn't seem to have any wind barrier so she may actually be freezing. Weather here in NJ is very similar to S Korea so I know what would feel warm. Sasha's jacket looks sufficient, tho not if temp goes close to or below freezing.
Google Translate is a good app to use to translate ingredients and other words in the packaging. Just set the languages and then take a picture and it can translate menus and packaging for you. Its alife saver in Korea and Japan. Have fun!
I have tried food shopping in a Jaoanese store in Makati to get the seaweed for Miso Soup. And there is never an english alphabet character in the packet. To find it out i opened google chrome app, typed google translate and from the google translate page there is a camera icon on the most right of the search bar. Clicked it and the google camera opened and i focused the camera on the packet with the Japanese characters. How amazing, every character translated into english. I was happy i got the right seaweed for the miso soup😊
For cheap souvenirs.. DONT GO TO INSADONG and MYEONGDONG... just go to DONGDEMOON or NANGDEMOON, its the Divisoria or Quiapo equivalent of Korean except the Smell, safety and amenities 😂😂.. you can shop here in korea VERY VERY safely and CONFIDENTLY.. everyone is helpful and polite but, try to learn some BASIC phrases like EMO-aunt, Ajussi- mister.. Igoshi Olma-heyo?- how much is this? Chuseyo- please
There's an app that can translate Korean writing in English when you use your video camera on it. This may help you. Enjoy your vac there in South Korea. Me and my sister did for 6 days☺️😉

Bibimpap have an egg on it.
