    FWIW the Charvel Dinky does come with a 5-position switch, two of which feature some coil split tones. So yeah, no knob but yeah, 2 positions in the switch split.

      Zippy they don't do up the nuts

    • @FunkyMonkey-ip4xy
      @FunkyMonkey-ip4xy 6 лет назад +1

      It's not the first time he's done that :) If the locking nut isn't tightened up that'll explain why it went out of tune, and the way Rob was hammering the Floyd his was tightened. Lee just isn't used to them.

    • @ThatGuy2042_
      @ThatGuy2042_ 6 лет назад +1

      They explained it in another vid. The guitars for demos are sometimes fresh out of the box. They leave the nuts undone until everything settles in.

    • @ThorneyedWT
      @ThorneyedWT 6 лет назад

      Also buyers usually play in different tunings, so it is convenient to leave nuts undone and let everyone to retune fast.

    • @FunkyMonkey-ip4xy
      @FunkyMonkey-ip4xy 6 лет назад +3

      Thorneyed I'm prepared to accept the nut may have been unlocked but not for that reason. You ever tried a drop D on a Floyd? You detune the E and every other string goes out of tune because it screws up the balance of the trem. You can't quickly alter the tuning on a Floyd Rose.

    Wylde Audio does the best single cut "look Im not a Les Paul copy" kind of horn. Not only it looks cool, but its is ergonomic too, sits nicely on the leg when playing in the classic position.

    Was hoping for an option of Stainless steel frets on these. The new Charvel DK are just the same as the Jackson Dinky but with a Charvel headstock. Ah well. I do prefer Charvel's headstock so that's cool I guess

    • @thedondeluxe6941
      @thedondeluxe6941 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, Jackson and Charvel are slowly turning into the exact same thing these days. I'm kinda worried Fender is gonna ditch one of the brands and just call everything Jackson or Charvel.

    • @zaccarter3801
      @zaccarter3801 6 лет назад

      To be fair stainless steel frets are overrated.

    • @CroneRaven1810
      @CroneRaven1810 6 лет назад +4

      Zac Carter To be fair: They are not. Have stainless steel frets on some models so it gives options to consumers. If you think they are "overrated" then you buy a model without SS frets. So having options is always better than not having options. Other manufacturers does it too. No excuse for a big manufacturer like Fender to not provide these options.

    • @zaccarter3801
      @zaccarter3801 6 лет назад +1

      CroneRaven1810 I did not mean to offend your large obsession with ss frets. From a luthier standpoint they are pretty stupid, they do wear down. And filing them is a hassle and so is polishing them. Most fret wires are easier to set up and replace. Just my experience with actually working on them. I think they are stupid if you like to keep your guitar set up. But if you are just a player then I understand, they are more "durable" (stubborn). I can't believe people want ss frets but can't stand Gibson for your using richlite fingerboards. More durable and feels relatively similar to its counterparts

    • @zaccarter3801
      @zaccarter3801 6 лет назад

      CroneRaven1810 if you wish to debate this than keep using your word choice. If you want to discuss I'd recommend not sounding as confrontational. To be fair.

    So, a few things. Fender bought Charvel and Jackson in 2002. The Pro Mod range has been around since 2008, not 4 or 5 years. Charvel originally had dinky bodies in their range back in 1990 (275, 375, 475, 550, 650, 750 and the Fusion Range), and they had a limited edition DK-24 last year with H/S/H pickup configuration. The blue ‘Jackson’ that John Mayer has been seen with recently is actually a custom shop Charvel, and is nothing like the SL 4X, since it’s a San Dimas

    I recently watched an interview with 'Seymour' where he cleared up the pup names.
    The JB and JM hummers were originally made for Jeff Beck's 'telegib' which 'Seymour' built for him, and he gave them the names jazz bridge etc to appeal to a wider audience.
    Giving them the jazz moniker hasn't diminished their sales potential either, because guitarists generally know how versatile they are.
    I hope that cleared things up for y'all.

I’d absolutely pay $1200-$1500 USD for that!

JB drew a pickgard on the orange one and Grover made it for him. Tina turner carved her name in to the pink one with the Kahler and I've never seen the other. The orange one is in the video for Ambitious from Flash. These where never built by Grover again until Fender made a couple of custom shop USA ones recently.

    I'd like to clarify something about your comments regarding Japanese vs Mexican. The reason people prefer Japanese made Charvels over Mexican ones is nothing to do with stigma or history, it's based on an assessment of manufacturing quality. I have both and the difference in quality is significant. The Mexican ones are still good though.

    What's the purpose of a pickguard that doesn't guard the pick, besides making the guitar ugly?

    This goes against what we do, I turned the volume down on RUclips about half way , going through my little tannoy monitors, it made this video sound incredible.

    When is the video for the Schecter 2018 range coming out? Interested in the C-1 SLS Elite? Also the LTD has some awesome guitars.

    Position 2 and 4 on a Strat with hotrails is quite interesting, and you can hear it on a lot of L.A. studio guitarist in the 90's. But I agree with the Captain they are hard to make work. I tried parallel wiring on a Squier Deluxe Hot rails guitar, didn't really work. the ceramic magnets gives a very hard spike in treble register. I might try a Bill Lawrence Q-filter on them today, that usually does the trick on hot pickups FWIW

      Christian Boddum Have you checked out the pickup combo that Dave Murray uses? He's got a different middle pickup (JB jr).

      John Gustafsson Hi John, I did a massive tryout with hotrails/rail pickups over a period of time and settled on the Kent Armstrong Cool rails as my favorite in terms of tone and output. They sound great i parallel for cleans, and hot enough in series for lead playing for me. ;-) So no, I havent tried the DM variation, but it sounds interesting.

    I don't think Gibson needs a monopoly on the singlecut shape since you asked. Lots of guitars look like fenders and Gibson's. If you go to far away from those shapes people don't seem to be interested. I own a PRS singlecut and i dont see a problem with that. It's put together better than a Gibson anyway. My 2 cents.

    First time Charvel has done a smaller body? How about the Charvel Desolation? I owned one and it was considerably smaller than other LP shaped guitars from other brands.

      Luis Fonseca it's not just the first small body they've made. The dinky-ish body means it's a slightly shrunken copy of one of their other body shapes.

    Are the blue and orange Jacksons reissues? Jeff beck had one extremely similar.

      Tim Cotter it's more inspired by the one Jeff beck was playing there are some differences i.e. the pickups the number of frets the headstock (his had a reverse headstock)
