14:42 He didn't start using that kind of pickup just because he wanted a change of pickup. It's because he moved to 24 frets, which meant a humbucker had to move "back" towards the bridge, which meant the sound would change somewhat. - So he figured to push "forward" the pickup-area as much as possible, he could use a single-coil sized humbucker and also have it pushed as much up against the end of the fretboard as possible. - This is to try and retain that more full and rounded sound you'd get with a humbucker on a 22-fret guitar.

I've seen em do Skid Row a few times and 90% of the people commenting have no idea it's Skid Row and get all gushy.
Great concept. One more could spawn form here. Signature guitars vs their standard counter parts. That could help the potential buyers torn between std and Sig models to understand the differences and what to expect and what not to. How are guitars different or better than each other in tone, feel quality and of course a very valuable opinion on if it's worth to part with extra money, more often than not for the signatures. good point but. Sig guitars i think are about people who are enamoured with that player. They already have 5 or..30 guitars.. but that sig is their dream. Has ZERO to do with how it plays
cdreid99999 I have a signature model and not for any of the reasons you mentioned. I got the Bonamasa Epiphone and while I like and respect his playing, I wouldn't call me a fan. It just had the features I wanted (fat neck, Gibson pickups, Pelham blue, etc).
I love Jems for the same reason. I admire Vai's ability but dont listen to his music, not a fan of it. etc. I love the thin light HSH , wizard neck etc etc
Spot on. On eastern made budget instrument end, there is a vintage Jerry Donahue tele copy. Never heard his music but tempted to buy the guitar due to specs and versatility, well or at least to try it.

I really really like this. The two guitar players Satriani and Vai are great. But you guys together playing and bringing out the personal parts of the guitar in the flavors of the guitar and also the tone is phenomenal. Makes me smile!
Marvellous video one of your best. Very laid back feel and clearly you are all good friends as you can see the looks between all three. It's a very special channel thanks to you all for the hard work behind it. You are all very talented musicians.
when i was younger the one song that got me into steve vai was tender surrender. When I watched that video for the first time I was just amazed by the passion and tones he was getting from his guitar. Very elegant, but he also had this attack to his music that was really unique to me at that time.

Love Bea's playing. Lee's face is a picture at all the shredding going on :) Oh and technically neither guitar has a Floyd Rose. They have the Ibanez Edge trem.
I never quite understood the Woody Jem, for me the Jem was always about it looking flamboyant, colourful and a bit over the top, but the Woody is more grown up looking. The best looking Jems are the 777 in Lochness Green, the DNA Anniversary guitar with the DNA inlay and the swirl paint and maybe the original blue flower pattern guitars.
Hearing Rob play a bit of Satch Boogie has actually made my day. I was sat waiting for it for the entire video, half expecting it not to come. Thanks Rob
A classic Steve Via song from the Zappa era has to include, "Stevie's Spanking." Not only are the lyrics about Via but he and Zappa shred all over it. The recording on, "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Vol. 4" is a good entry point with extended soloing (its also on RUclips). ...Finally, can we get a, "Sound Like Zappa" video? or maybe, "Captain Meets Dweezil!"
Let’s face it. You KNOW a Jem when you see it. Satch’s guitar may be a “beast” BUT...Vai’s signature guitar rules. That said I prefer Satriani to Vai. And THAT said...no one gives a crap about my opinion but I’m still giving it!😳
G-WIZ: Satch was Steve Vai's guitar teacher in the 70's. Steve Vai got the idea to scallop the fretboad on his guitar neck after playing one of YJM's guitars on the G3 tour. YJM told Steve it let's him grab the note by the balls. I did the same on one of strats on the 6 most upper frets and it absolutely works to improve the feel of playing in that region of the neck. LOVE YOUR SHOW!
Jackson0Music good one the reason a lot of us playing guitar-SRV and being in awe. Going out n buying an electric n falling in love with guitar. Then borrowing Clapton’s licks for life.
I'm a Jem advocate. I've tried all the different Ibanez models, and all the big names from Gibson to PRS, and I always end up back on the Ibanez Jem. I love it, so I have to vote for that one.
you'r P I L E to be honest it would be more of Dimebag and Zakk Wylde playing together rather than VS, considering they were best friends and how Zakk made “in this river” in his memory
YES!!!! i could definatly hear the two different tones there and its like... the finest maranara with great grandmas pasta recipie married together to bring out such wonderful flacvors and brilliant colors...
Steve used to have his signature Carvin, but I don't know what's happening with that since Carvin is dead. In the 80s he used Marshalls, and he uses a Fender Super Sonic sometimes, so maybe?
I think he would want an amp that doesn't break down all the time. Victories are notoriously unreliable for gig playing. I guess you only play in a bedroom?
I own a Jem 7VWH and a Satriani JS1200CA. Both are absolutely amazing guitars. The Jem is super versatile and the Satriani is one of the most comfortable guitars I've ever played; probably only equaled by the EBMM Majesty. Loved this video guys!!!
Interesting that Chappers says Vai was the loudest gig he’d ever seen. My experience is the same - saw him at Newcastle City Hall on the Sex & Religion tour with Devin Townsend on vocals. That was insanely loud. I remember Devin running up and around the venue round the audience - was mental 🤘🏻
Loved this video but there's definitely more 'here's us talking about how much we love these both icons' than "here's how these guitars compare to one another"
jupiter moongauge as a guitar player, we may argue. But as a songwriter, (lyrics, songs, ideals) producer and singer, Rory was on another level. Stevie was just a great great blues player
I just love Satch's phrasing and melodic tunes. They really tell a story. Vai is just LOADED with technique and makes a guitar do things you never hear other people do, but I don't enjoy his compositions as much. Just a personal preference, but I've seen both in concert several times.
I love PGM Paul gilbert model hahahahaha I hate it when the volume is (too) near my hand ... but I prefer Joe Satriani model. more simple because I don't have to deal with middle pickup
I'd buy any of them. To be fair, I have two Ibanez. An RG350DXZ and a PGM-3. After switching from the RG to the PGM, it's so hard return to the RG again because I got so used to the Volume knob at the far end of the guitar.
My Wifey and I saw him in Seattle 2007....Got to meet the whole band and he came outside the Moore Theater and Stayed for over 45 minutes..and talked guitars...and just down to earth dude and shot the shit with just about 5-6 of us...and this was not the paid for meet n greet experience his has for a premium price....just came out and chilled...was in awe!!!he talked a lot about the making of Passion and Warfare...and signed my OG Cd insert poster for me...took several pics. .it was so great. I met Joey Satch just a year later at the Downtown Seattle Guitar Center...I just have to meet my absolute favorite guitar player of all time to complete my top three !!!!and he was the biggest inspiration to me.and millions of others!..and was the guy who made me even pick a guitar up..and imo changed Guitar forever!..and is always still innovating!!!so many inventions that we we all use today ....and that's King Edward Can Halen...
Saw Satriani (and John Petrucci, Phil Collen) at G3, two weeks ago in Dallas. Third row...it was fantastic! Was just as good as when I saw him the first time, on SWTA in the 80s.
We want CAPTAIN Meets SATRIANI... People upvote if you agree
Joyonto Sarker yessssss
Hell Yes and he's a top guy so he'd probably be up for it!
I am afraid Satch has better things to do than wasting his time in this freak show..
ollyworld So you mean John Petrucci had nothing to do in his life, and came to this freak show cz of that??
and Paul Gilbert
I LOVED doing this episode, so much fun! great guitar as well
Big up your love for Blue Powder, Bea!
Your whammy bar harmonics were spot on, and I loved the impish grin over at Rob at about 16:20 and 24:15 when you were doing some whammy tricks.
more videos with u and rob pls
You were all obviously having such a great time :-)
The Extremist is my favorite, too.
The Captain meets Joe Satriani!
Make it happen this year!
Praneet Chitre what happens next...?
Joe satriani on andertons
Joe is touring the UK this year, SO THIS COULD HAPPEN!
Yep, Satriani & Petrucci & Roth (G3) are coming to Portsmouth and London!
Yes please!
Joe is a very nice self effacing guy..I miss Jeff Campitelli though :)
Rabea should focus more on his solo stuff cause the dude is incredibly talented ! his technique is very well built ! so inspiring
He has now gone solo your wish is granted

Marty Friedman.!!!!!!
FRIEDMAN.
can we please see these 3 chaps together review guitars more often
Gary Moore vs. Joe Bonamassa
Slash vs. Joe Perry
Eric Clapton vs. John Mayer (That'll tear Lee apart...^^)
Paul Gilbert vs. Nuno Bettencourt
Rainer Kraus Gary Moore, Clapton. 👍
Rainer Kraus Paul vs Nuno! That would be awesome
Rainer Kraus Bonamassa pretty much copies everything from Gary Moore.
Gary Moore beats the crap out of Bonamassa so I don't think there'd be much to discuss in that one :-), Nuno and PG would be really good, I confess that Nuno is my ultimate guitar monster though!
Although Nuno stated that he wouldn't be able to successfully complete the fully instrumental albums that Jeff Beck is famous for .

@TDZ that was awesome. She must have been a humble woman
How about a shootout between a Hendrix rig and an SRV rig?
south paws have different tone
Yngwie and SRV both were able to get Hendrix tone playing righty.
By selecting the proper pickup polarity and winding direction, a right handed player can get very close. Both also played around using lefty necks and bodies and playing them on righty to get even closer.
Good luck getting a Dumble amplifier for the SRV rig

Evan Sales We can only hope. That would be one hell of a thing.
Thanks Rob
That's what we want to see on this channel, more of this! Best video put up here in a while, cheers!
A classic Steve Via song from the Zappa era has to include, "Stevie's Spanking." Not only are the lyrics about Via but he and Zappa shred all over it. The recording on, "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Vol. 4" is a good entry point with extended soloing (its also on RUclips). ...Finally, can we get a, "Sound Like Zappa" video? or maybe, "Captain Meets Dweezil!"
notbadfilms dweezil trades licks with Vai on that track... it’s sick! That was a great eye opener for me back in the 80s!
Ha! I didn't remember that it was Dweezil on that recording. Good catch. I swear I've seen Frank battle it out in live videos too.
what is via?
Dweezil is an outstanding player!!
Let’s face it. You KNOW a Jem when you see it. Satch’s guitar may be a “beast” BUT...Vai’s signature guitar rules.
That said I prefer Satriani to Vai.
And THAT said...no one gives a crap about my opinion but I’m still giving it!😳
Ummm...everyone knows a Satch model on sight. The JS 2450 blows that glorified super strat out of the water.
The Jem is one very special and iconic guitar. Like the Van Halen Hammer or Dimebags guitars.
25:05 that right there is the sickest sound I've seen chappers make that was SO GOOD I just wish he'd have held it longer........
What an amazing demo of two awesome guitars!! Great show guys. Congrats from Costa Rica. Love your channel.
Bea is such a beast. Much love bro.
Maciej Bałauszko he is an incredible rhythm player
Stevie Ray Vaugn vs Eric Clapton
Jackson0Music good one the reason a lot of us playing guitar-SRV and being in awe. Going out n buying an electric n falling in love with guitar. Then borrowing Clapton’s licks for life.
the thing with clapton is he is so many players. Clapton from Yardbirds is nothing like Clapton from Cream, and so on...
Rabea's Satch playing tho...
Two of my absolutely favorite guitarists, thanks so much for this guys, as usual, Chappers and Rabea sound excellent jamming together \m/
I'm a Jem advocate. I've tried all the different Ibanez models, and all the big names from Gibson to PRS, and I always end up back on the Ibanez Jem. I love it, so I have to vote for that one.
Dimebag Darrel vs Zakk Wylde!!
you'r P I L E to be honest it would be more of Dimebag and Zakk Wylde playing together rather than VS, considering they were best friends and how Zakk made “in this river” in his memory
All of the pinch harmonics
Rob should persuade Steve to go with Victory
ValkyrieBSG Dave Murray plays one, so not too crazy. I bet Vai goes to whoever gives him the most freedom or he drops it all for all simulated.
YES!!!!
i could definatly hear the two different tones there and its like... the finest maranara with great grandmas pasta recipie married together to bring out such wonderful flacvors and brilliant colors...
Steve used to have his signature Carvin, but I don't know what's happening with that since Carvin is dead. In the 80s he used Marshalls, and he uses a Fender Super Sonic sometimes, so maybe?
He's basically said that if someone could make an amp with his sound (so basically make a new Legacy) then he'd go with them.
I think he would want an amp that doesn't break down all the time. Victories are notoriously unreliable for gig playing. I guess you only play in a bedroom?
Damn. They teased Always for half a second, then left us high and dry. Easily my favorite Satriani song.
I own a Jem 7VWH and a Satriani JS1200CA. Both are absolutely amazing guitars. The Jem is super versatile and the Satriani is one of the most comfortable guitars I've ever played; probably only equaled by the EBMM Majesty. Loved this video guys!!!
Awesome video. Was also at Vai concert and said Hi to you. Awesome show and great idea for the video.
Dave Mustaine and Kirk Hammet
Claypot can’t even compare, Kirk is just on another level
Tristan HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAH are u ok dude? lmao
There will be blood!
I just realized that wont happen untill Andertons stock Dean guitars...
They both lack on lead but dave is a beast for riffs.Kirk just sucks all around same scale and wah for 30 years
BTW Rabea, you are looking HEALTHY!
So happy for you. Great job on yourself.
A healthy Rabea is a happy Rabea. Thank you!
He’s fat again now. Smh.
Man. The irony of your name. Unreal.
This video is in my favorite guitar jams folder, been in there for over a year and I still break it out from Time to time. 😉
Loved this video but there's definitely more 'here's us talking about how much we love these both icons' than "here's how these guitars compare to one another"
14:10 had me in splits. It would be interesting to see the three kings watching the edited video... (Their reaction?)
I would like to see John Sykes VS Viv Campbell
good to see "Bob ross" stepping in for a session !!!
Nic White lucky he didn't smash the guitar against the wall for a better tone
played by Gary Sinise playing a Brit
One of your best videos guys - thanks for the serious treatment.
Once again watching you guys genuinely enjoy playing and absolutely killing it makes me want to go practice. Cheers!
lydian is such a beatiful mode :')
Luke Azariah great ear, you beat me to it.
Del Bedinotti That’s what she said.
Andy Timmons vs Eric Johnson!
Can we get Bea a "to be fair" jar?
One of the most enjoyable vids in a while guys! I loved seeing you show some love for your influences instead of trash talking the 80s!!
That was freaking amazing ! We love seeing you three together
Rory Gallagher vs Stevie Ray Vaughan!!
Rory Sugrue rory
SRV is the greatest blues player of all time....Period
RORY! RORY! RORY!
Rory was a total amateur compared to Stevie
jupiter moongauge as a guitar player, we may argue. But as a songwriter, (lyrics, songs, ideals) producer and singer, Rory was on another level. Stevie was just a great great blues player
Need more Rob and Bea video's!
I just love Satch's phrasing and melodic tunes. They really tell a story. Vai is just LOADED with technique and makes a guitar do things you never hear other people do, but I don't enjoy his compositions as much. Just a personal preference, but I've seen both in concert several times.
My absolute favorite video from Andertons, it's in my favorite guitar jam file and I come back and visit from time to time😜
You guys should definitely do more of these.
Satch is such an inspiration, his music didn't need a singer the guitar is the singer with amazing melodies
I love PGM Paul gilbert model hahahahaha I hate it when the volume is (too) near my hand ... but I prefer Joe Satriani model. more simple because I don't have to deal with middle pickup
Nailed it
Boy Aditya smaller neck as well, because alas, I have small hands. 😂
I'd buy any of them. To be fair, I have two Ibanez. An RG350DXZ and a PGM-3. After switching from the RG to the PGM, it's so hard return to the RG again because I got so used to the Volume knob at the far end of the guitar.
if the satriani model had bigger frets id be sold, i like the more traditional feel but modern frets hardware ect
Rob at @11:46: "it turns into this really musical feedback..."
Halo 2 fans: "Well damn, there's where the intro dive bomb comes from"
My Wifey and I saw him in Seattle 2007....Got to meet the whole band and he came outside the Moore Theater and Stayed for over 45 minutes..and talked guitars...and just down to earth dude and shot the shit with just about 5-6 of us...and this was not the paid for meet n greet experience his has for a premium price....just came out and chilled...was in awe!!!he talked a lot about the making of Passion and Warfare...and signed my OG Cd insert poster for me...took several pics. .it was so great.
Spell check CAN HALEN!! for can HALEN!!!!BWAAAAAA!!
Cheers GUYS!!!
This episode was F........ GREAT!! Incredible playing and demonstrating of the guitars, and great to see rob and rabea playing together
I'm surprised you're not representing any o the Satriani pedals, they're pretty cool
Blue Powder, yeah!
Captain meets Yngwie Malmsteen!! Like If you like this idea!!
sarty23 daughter
awesome idea,id shit if i had the privledge to meet yngwie
Saw Satriani (and John Petrucci, Phil Collen) at G3, two weeks ago in Dallas. Third row...it was fantastic! Was just as good as when I saw him the first time, on SWTA in the 80s.
Absolutely amazing! One of my favorite videos ever.
Kurt Cobain vs John Petrucci.
What? Nothing alike.
Charlie P Good call dude!
Charlie P EVH vs The Petruccinator!
I'd pick Kurt every time.
Cobain = mindblowing
Lil' Wayne vs Madonna!
im diggin that satriani pretty hard.
Thanks for using a Hughes & Kettner in one of your clips. I have one and they are much underrated.
CHRIST, such amazing play here. Well done, got two legends on these legendary guitars
